Exclusive: DCFS Investigates Britney

An LA County Sheriff's official has told TMZ that the LA County Department of Children and Family Services (DCFS) will investigate the incident involving Britney Spears and her son.

Spears drove in Malibu yesterday with her baby on her lap without any child restraint.

This afternoon, Deputy Sheriff Mark Winn went to the Spears home. The official told TMZ Winn made the trip to get contact information for DCFS, so that DCFS "could do their thing."

Britney's rep told TMZ Winn spoke with security - not Spears herself.

As we first reported, DCFS contacted the LA County Sheriff's Department earlier today, inquiring about the incident.

TMZ contacted a DCFS official who would not comment on the matter.



Britney issued a statement saying, "I was terrified that this time the physically aggressive paparazzi would put both me and my baby in danger." She added, "I instinctively took measures to get my baby and me out of harm's way..."

The TV show 'EXTRA' has obtained the following statement from X17, the company that took the picture: "These pictures were taken in a very peaceful context, in which photographers exhibited no aggressive behavior. We believe the pictures speak for themselves."

4. are you people dumb? If she was in a parking lot, where are the other parked cars???? And if you look in the background, the tress are blurry, the only time a -professional photographer would take a blurry picture is she was driving at a speed over 30mph..... get a clue, her IQ dropped like 100 points when she married that lowlife Keven Federline.....

5. Come on guys, it's obvious the passenger door IS open, surely she doesn't look spooked enough to be driving with it open!!
Probably sitting in the car in the parking lot, hopefully she loves that beautiful baby enough to have put him in the restraint BEFORE pulling out.
Onlt thing I did notice is WHAT BIG EARS SHE HAS!! Go Brit!

7. OK! First, of all celebs should not get a reduce in fines. Like my mom says you do the crime you do the time or in this fact, money. Secondly, even if the door was opened, (which its probably not) why was it opened in the first place, if nobody was in the passenger seat... babies in her lap. Thirdly, if she was in a parking lot why would the baby still be in her lap, you dont put a baby in the passenger seat that way. Lastly, she is probably not moving because she is pulled over!! Besides on the news they even saw her driving and taped it. So you cannot fight for someone when people have proof that she did it.All in all, the court and police should not depreciate because she did something stupid.
