Widely-admired woman dies at age 44

(Mar. 7, 11:10AM ET) -- Dana Reeve, the widow of Christoper Reeve who gained worldwide acclaim for her charity work, has died of lung cancer at age 44.

Reeve was a loving caregiver to her husband, who was paralyzed after a 1995 horse-riding accident. He died in 2004.

Dana Reeve, who served as the chairwoman of the Christopher Reeve Paralysis Foundation, was diagnosed with lung cancer last August. Reeve, who was not a smoker, leaves behind 13-year-old son Will. She also has two grown stepchildren, Matthew and Alexandra.
