Sizzling Celebrity Swimsuits -- Big Business

The bikini is turning 60 this year and while no one wants to see the 'Golden Girls' in their bathing suits, Eva Longoria and Paris Hilton are a completely different story. Women's swimwear is a $3 billion industry and for designers, getting their wares on the backs of Tinseltown's hottest booties can be big business.

Designers routinely send swimsuits to trendsetting stars like Nicole Richie and Keira Knightley, free of charge, knowing that the media exposure will translate into higher demand from paying customers. Take Shay Todd for example. When Longoria showed up to the 2005 MTV Video Music Awards in his pink, ruffled one-piece, sales went through the roof.



While most of us wouldn't dream of wearing a Speedo as evening wear, who wouldn't kill to look like Jessica Alba or Scarlett Johansson. See if you can tell which Hollywood hottie dared to bare in a bikini, and who played it safe in a one-piece?

2. Celebs do what they do to Stay celebs. Like models, if they don't NEED to show off their skin, they usually don't.

Swimsuits display the women. Their body IS their business, sadly.
But, in their walled in family backyards, with family and children they don't
have the need. Can we know? Maybe they feel to impress their family that
they have to get used to the fact, maybe they aren't comfortable showing
skin to them. If these places are private -who knows?

Will women and girls buy them? It depends on how much they're willing to "pay" to show off their skin, but that's not MY business...
