Bullock Fears for Her Safety

Sandra Bullock has filed papers in Los Angeles Superior Court in hopes of extending a restraining order she filed against stalker Thomas James Weldon IV.

"I continue to fear for my physical safety and the physical safety of my family," Bullock wrote in the court filings.

For the past three years, Weldon has been incarcerated at the Middle Tennessee Mental Health Institute, which plans to allow him a 90-day release from the facility starting in September.

Before he was sent to the institution, Weldon left phone messages, faxes, and emails stating he wished to have a relationship with the actress.

Bullock filed the original restraining against Weldon three years ago. She is seeking to extend it for three more years and make it permanent.

Weldon stalked and harassed Bullock for more than a year, following her to California to Texas to South Carolina, and then back to California.

In a statement, Bullock lawyer Ed McPherson said, "Our primary concern is the safety and well-being of Ms. Bullock and her family. Our application to extend the restraining order was filed in order to ensure that safety and well-being."
