The Fur Flies off Paris

Paris Hilton is officially off fur, and Paul McCartney's soon-to-be ex is the reason.

We're told that Hilton -- who has been known to wear fur in the past -- became alarmed after watching a gruesome PETA video at Heather Mills' home, showing dogs being skinned alive for their fur.  Mills told Hilton that going the "fake fur route wasn't foolproof, because some high-end department stores labeled certain garments "artificial fur" when in fact they were the real deal.

Apparently Hilton vowed on the spot never to wear fur again.

TMZ checked with Paris' rep, Elliot Mintz, who said, "Paris does not wear fur, nor will she wear fur described as artificial fur knowing it came off the backs of animals."   Mintz say he and Hilton are "greatful to Heather for educating us on this terrible subject."

16. Paris has orange streeks, lol, and also is it me or is she just doing all this because of the hype with Beyonce'? Funny. Paris is nasty, her clothes look like they are straight up maternity. 17. Great!!! Sadly enough, she's a role model for many young girls and if she makes a statement it will be heard. Maybe even understood. Let's hope it lasts longer than with Naomi Campbell & Co and that Beyoncé, J.Lo & Co will come to their senses one day.

27. Paris has more to her than I previously gave her credit for. I respect her for her decision to stop wearing fur. She was able to put the wellbeing of animals above her own desire to wear or buy fur. I wish other stars like J Lo and Beyonce would care about something other than themselves.

28. I think this is a great move by Paris!

All you people who want her to give up leather and become a vegan need to lighten up. Its great that you choose to live your life like that but don't force it one everyone else. I am a vegetarian, but I don't make my husband, friends, or dog be vegetrarians too. It is a personal choice for me. I try to educate people and explain how I am healthier, but if they want to continue to do something, I am not going to impose my beliefs on them. To me, it is no different than imposing religion or abortion belief on people, and to me tolerance is crucial.

That said, wearing fur is wrong, and I think it isn't right not just becuase of the cruilty, but also because there is major fraud in the industry, and the fur provides nothing humans can really use. Milk, Cheese and even meat you can argue can actually be used for a positive benefit (nourishment) while fur is strictly for "fashion"

29. I think it is funny peta goes agaisnt those who wear fur cause it is wrong to the animals, but how many of them eat meat? Isnt killing an animal for food jsut the same???

30. I respect Paris Hilton's decision to stop wearing fur. It's not easy for anyone to admit they were wrong about something. She has shown she has compassion which is more than Jennifer Lopez or Beyonce. It appears that they could care less about animal suffering as long as they appear "fashionable".
