Re:
Angelina Jolie, Brad Pitt/Stolen Photos

          Our File No.: 2583-20

Dear Sir/Madam:

Recently, a digital memory card containing a number of personal copyright protected photographs of our clients was stolen.  The police are currently investigating this matter.  The photos depict, among other things, private moments and images of our clients and/or their minor children, taken in Namibia, including images from a private baby shower (the "Stolen Photos").  It is obvious to anyone viewing the Stolen Photos that they were taken in private, on private property and that they could only have been taken by our clients and/or a family member, who own all right title and interest thereto.

We understand that the person who stole the Stolen Photos, or an accomplice, has been offering them for sale to the various media outlets and celebrity content websites, and may have offered the Stolen Photos to you.

This letter is to provide you with notice that the Stolen Photos are copyright protected, to which my clients own right and title thereto.  Any unauthorized publication, reproduction or dissemination of the Stolen Photos constitutes an infringement of my clients' copyrights in violation of the U.S. Copyright Act, Title 17 of the United States Code Section 101, et seq., and exposes you, and anyone else acting in concert with you, to civil liability, damages, injunctive relief and reimbursement of all attorneys' fees and costs incurred by my clients in connection with any copyright infringement action. Furthermore, if any monies are paid for the purchase of the Stolen Photos, you will be engaged in the purchase of stolen property.

In addition, under the circumstances that the Stolen Photos were taken, namely, at private and personal events on private property, my clients had a reasonable expectation of enjoying total privacy.  The publication of the photos would therefore constitute a unlawful invasion and violation of my clients' right of privacy and would also be an unauthorized commercial appropriation of their names, likenesses and personas.

Anyone who publishes, disseminates, displays or otherwise exploits the Stolen Photos will be liable for substantial compensatory damages, punitive damages, and injunctive relief.  If you publish or disseminate and of the Stolen Photos, our clients will take further legal action to protect their rights, including by the filing of a lawsuit seeking compensatory and punitive damages, statutory damages for copyright violations, and attorneys' fees.

On behalf of our clients, we request as follows:

        1.      If you or any of your employees or agents are/have been approached and offered the right to acquire and publish any of the Photos, or are approached in any way with regard to the Photos, we ask that you immediately contact either myself or Evan Spiegel at Lavely & Singer at (310) 556-3501 x 238 or 247, so that the matter may be referred to the criminal authorities; and

        2.      That you cease and desist from exploiting, publishing, posting, distributing, or
otherwise using or disseminating (with or without monetary charge) any of the Stolen Photos, through any venue or medium, including but not limited to on your website.

        Please govern yourself accordingly.

This letter does not purport to constitute a complete or exhaustive statement of all of our clients' rights, contentions or legal theories.  Nothing contained herein is intended as, nor should it be deemed to constitute, a waiver or relinquishment of any of our clients' rights or remedies, whether legal or equitable, all of which are hereby expressly reserved.

                              Sincerely,

[via e-mail]    YAEL E. HOLTKAMP For

31. They are stars no doubt. But they are also people too. There is a time and a place for there lives to be public. They DO have a right to have privacy for themselfs and there children. There children are not stars so why exploit them.Shame on who ever stole that disc!!!!!!!

32. I think it's funny, actually a little bit sad how they claim to love ALL of their kids the same way, not one more than the other. But I don't remember all this privacy and security surrounding the 2 adopted kids. In fact, she trotted them out all around town. But when she gave birth to her very own baby, it hasn't been seen since those pix appeared in People, and there was a huge threat surrounding those also. I feel sorry for the other 2 kids, the adopted ones cause it's obvious there's a double standard in play there.

33. Even though it is sad thay the photos have such a worth that someone would risk jail to steal them, I gotta say, You can not have your cake and eat it too. Stars seem to bask in the limelight when a new movie of theirs comes out, or when they need publicity, but want the paparazzi turned off when the the stars want it off. I dont think this will ever work. If the public is beat into a frenzy by these stars and their lives, you will have to expect the public will want to see their kids too. Maybe if the photos didnt command such a price the paparazzi would not hang in trees to try to get a snapshot.
Remember when stars were famous for roles they played, or contributing their times to worthy causes? now any moron who gets a minute or two in a movie is a celebrity for life.

35. Who cares? I am so sick of hearing about Angelina and Brad. Angelina is a home wrecking whore and Brad will eventually leave her for another flavor of the month.

36. you know you would think they are the only ones that have kids who care what there kids look like .they adopt kids from another country what about the usa we have kids here that need homes to but they adopt theres from over there. why don't they just say over there and they can hide there kids from there american people.

37. THE LETTER DIDN'T SAY A FAMILY MEMBER "STOLE" THE PHOTOS. IT SAYS THAT THE PHOTOS WERE "TAKEN" MEANING PHOTOGRAPHED BY A FAMILY MEMBER. I SERIOUSLY DOUBT THAT A CLOSE FRIEND OR FAMILY MEMBER STOLE THEM. EVEN IF STARS QUIT MAKING MOVIES AND TRY TO GO BACK TO REGULAR CIVILIAN LIFE THEY STILL AREN'T LEFT ALONE. ESPECIALLY AS LONG AS FANS KEEP EATING UP ALL THE HYPE. CAN'T REALLY BLAME THE MEDIA. IT'S US, THE AMERICAN PUBLIC. IF YOU'RE GOING TO BE A STAR, YOU HOPE TO HAVE FANS. THE MEDIA TRIES TO GET WHAT THE FANS WANT. THE STARS WANT TO BE LEFT ALONE BY THE MEDIA. IT'S A VICIOUS CIRCLE. IT'S THE PRICE THAT'S PAID IF YOU WANT THE STARDOM

38. Who gives a flying crap about these people and their pictures?

39. I have the photos on our website www.celljournalist.com.

But they will be taken down in a few hours. I was approached about brokering a deal to sell these images and also received the follow up letter from the lawyer.

We will see what happens.

40. The photos were "taken" as in snapped, not "taken" as in stolen. They were snapped by a family member. See how rumors get started!!!

41. First of all how do you steal a memory card from a digital camera. I mean lets get real here. They have media everywhere so you know there watching everyone and if it was a family member or a friend then I wouldn't want them back at my house. Who needs people like that? I think that if you make a big deal out of something then that makes poeple want it so much more. Don't make a big fuss about it because that what they want you to do so just do your legal thing with a differen't lawyers and ride it out

42. Sean @ 7:38 -Ha Ha

On one hand I feel bad that they had someone take something so personal from them. That's a massive violation on a personal level. Sure, they are used to their personal lives being violated on some level but this is a WHOLE other story. This was something that was solely theirs. I do feel for them.

And on the other hand, yep, I'm sick of them. Go away. Their media radar must have gone off as I hadn't heard about Brangelina in a few days. Blah.

43. The letter says the stolen pictures were "taken" by the owners or a family memeber......meaning photographed by.....not stolen by a family member....LOL

Read it again !

44. I for one am very tired of hearing about this baby. A married man, had an affair, divorced his wife and is now starting a family with another unwed person does not constitute news for me. Who cares what they are doing, what the baby looks like. I feel sorry for the children who are now growing up with extreme wealth but not morals or values.

45. I'm wondering if they could have said Stolen Photos a few more times. For some reason, 10 times just didn't seem enough.
