Re:
Angelina Jolie, Brad Pitt/Stolen Photos

          Our File No.: 2583-20

Dear Sir/Madam:

Recently, a digital memory card containing a number of personal copyright protected photographs of our clients was stolen.  The police are currently investigating this matter.  The photos depict, among other things, private moments and images of our clients and/or their minor children, taken in Namibia, including images from a private baby shower (the "Stolen Photos").  It is obvious to anyone viewing the Stolen Photos that they were taken in private, on private property and that they could only have been taken by our clients and/or a family member, who own all right title and interest thereto.

We understand that the person who stole the Stolen Photos, or an accomplice, has been offering them for sale to the various media outlets and celebrity content websites, and may have offered the Stolen Photos to you.

This letter is to provide you with notice that the Stolen Photos are copyright protected, to which my clients own right and title thereto.  Any unauthorized publication, reproduction or dissemination of the Stolen Photos constitutes an infringement of my clients' copyrights in violation of the U.S. Copyright Act, Title 17 of the United States Code Section 101, et seq., and exposes you, and anyone else acting in concert with you, to civil liability, damages, injunctive relief and reimbursement of all attorneys' fees and costs incurred by my clients in connection with any copyright infringement action. Furthermore, if any monies are paid for the purchase of the Stolen Photos, you will be engaged in the purchase of stolen property.

In addition, under the circumstances that the Stolen Photos were taken, namely, at private and personal events on private property, my clients had a reasonable expectation of enjoying total privacy.  The publication of the photos would therefore constitute a unlawful invasion and violation of my clients' right of privacy and would also be an unauthorized commercial appropriation of their names, likenesses and personas.

Anyone who publishes, disseminates, displays or otherwise exploits the Stolen Photos will be liable for substantial compensatory damages, punitive damages, and injunctive relief.  If you publish or disseminate and of the Stolen Photos, our clients will take further legal action to protect their rights, including by the filing of a lawsuit seeking compensatory and punitive damages, statutory damages for copyright violations, and attorneys' fees.

On behalf of our clients, we request as follows:

        1.      If you or any of your employees or agents are/have been approached and offered the right to acquire and publish any of the Photos, or are approached in any way with regard to the Photos, we ask that you immediately contact either myself or Evan Spiegel at Lavely & Singer at (310) 556-3501 x 238 or 247, so that the matter may be referred to the criminal authorities; and

        2.      That you cease and desist from exploiting, publishing, posting, distributing, or
otherwise using or disseminating (with or without monetary charge) any of the Stolen Photos, through any venue or medium, including but not limited to on your website.

        Please govern yourself accordingly.

This letter does not purport to constitute a complete or exhaustive statement of all of our clients' rights, contentions or legal theories.  Nothing contained herein is intended as, nor should it be deemed to constitute, a waiver or relinquishment of any of our clients' rights or remedies, whether legal or equitable, all of which are hereby expressly reserved.

                              Sincerely,

[via e-mail]    YAEL E. HOLTKAMP For

46. STUPIED..

47. The pictures are theirs. They are wonderful humanatarians and should be given respect. When was the last time, celebrities sold their baby's picture and gave the proceeds to charity? Leave them alone. They are fine examples of how we all should live.

48. The birth of a child is a precious and tender moment in the lives of family and friends, and no one has the right to impose upon anyone's privacy during these memorable and special moments. It is odd, if not outright perverse, that anyone would think the public has a right to unlimited access to the private lives of Mr. Pitt and Ms. Jolie, or to the lives of their children. These two people, who are constantly in the public eye, have more than shared their talents and their resources, as well as the momentous events in their personal lives, with their adoring public. This family is entitled to their privacy, and anyone crossing over those boundaries through criminal acts should be prosecuted. The lawyer's letter was warranted, and it clearly sends the message that Mr. Pitt and Ms. Jolie are excellent parents. Their efforts to protect their children from the probing eyes of those who would use them for capital gain should be applauded and not criticized. How could anyone think that exploitation should ever be condoned?

49. These people need to get over it already. They have no problem cashing those ridiculously exorbitant paychecks, therefore they should be prepared to accept everything else that goes along with it. Fame always comes at a price. And without the fame that THIS country gave them, they wouldn't be able to travel the rest of the world trying to save it.

50. OH...WHATEVER. WHO CARES, UNLESS EVERYONE AT THE BABY SHOWER WAS NAKED!! SERIOUSLY, CAN'T THESE CELEBS REALIZE THAT THEY PUT THEMSELVES UNDER THE MICROSCOPE AS SOON AS THEY AMBITIOUSLY ADVANCE THEIR CAREERS??
IT GOES WITH THE TERRITORY, SO QUIT WHINING....DOESN'T ALL THE FAME AND FORTUNE MAKE UP FOR LACK OF PRIVACY? THEY CAN'T HAVE THEIR CAKE AND EAT IT TOO.

51. First let me start by stating that I have little or no interest in the personal life of any celebrity, especially not Jolie/Pitt, and I don't really understand people that do. However, this stolen photo saga really bothers me. They want to live the life of the rich and famous yet they want their privacy too! Come on! They have no problem cashing those ridiculously exorbitant paychecks, therefore they should be prepared to accept everything else that goes along with it. Fame always comes at a price. And without the fame that THIS country gave them, they wouldn't be able to travel the rest of the world trying to save it. I appreciate that there are other countries in dire need of our help and I applaud people such as Ms. Jolie for her humanitarian efforts. However, she should also remember that it is THIS nation that made her what she is and enables her to live the life of an ambassador. I'm quite certain that without her fame and the public interest in her life, she wouldn't be as effective in raising awareness for her causes. So, yes, it's a shame that their privacy was violated, if that is in fact what really happened, but perhaps their giant bank accounts will help to ease their pain!

52. You shouldn't take pictures and then leave them lying around if you don't want them taken. Stop the drama already. You aren't better than any one else. I am sick and tired of hearing about these phonies. I could care less. Don't take pictures if you don't want them stolen, and if you do take them develope them yourselves, that's what I do. Then, they won't be stolen. Get a life Brad and Angelina. And, Angelina should help the poor in the USA, who cares about the poor people in another country. We live in the USA, not Africa. Donate to people here. Besides, Brad Pitt is nothing but a CHEAT. What he did to Jennifer is uncalled for. I hate this guy.

53. give it a rest, someone stole the pictures they sold, and really I think this couple will see the interest in them cool pretty quickly, who cares what they do, and you know they can afford to give money away to charity that doesn't make them good people that just makes them good at the PR game. Nobody is calling angie a home wrecker now she is earth mother, yeah whatever.

54. It would seem to me that if you're that sensitive about photographs being taken at a private event, you ask your friends not to take photographs. If you DO have someone take photos, then get the camera/film/memory stick yourself immediately afterwards. It's kind of like the adage, "don't write down what you don't want the whole world to read." Once a photo is taken it runs the risk of being seen by everyone and anyone. It's the price of fame and Brangelina are HIGHLY PAID for it, with or without lawsuits. If they don't like it, they can stop making movies and live a life of obscurity in Africa, and soon no one will care.

55. Great the lawyers are doing what they are paid to do and what they should be doing. Protect the interest of their clients.

Now anyone who purchases or distributes is knowingly in possession of stolen property

56. oh, please. we're so over celebrity entitlement. the wholoe thing smells like another cnn botoxed-blonde poll-dancer story. anerson cooper will be perfect to report thyis spittle.

who. cares.

57. Why is everyone so obsessed with these people and every step they take.
I congratulate them on their new addition, but I really could care less about their every
step. Why do we have to see 5 million pictures of the baby, I don't get it. Why are people so obsessed?
I understand being a fan, but things are totally out of control with this "celebrity" thing. There are so many more important
things to be concerned about in the world. Or have your own child, it would always keep you busy and you couldn't care less
about someone else's kid because you are so in love with your own. Give them a break and let
them enjoy this beautiful part of "their" life, a celebration of birth! Congratulations!

58. I think that people should just leave Brad and Angie alone. The press may want pictures but they should rely on stealing them. They may want some privacy like normal people.

59. thats so sad that someone would try to make a quick buck of any one. has'nt anyone learned anything eg princess dianna i hope this person is caught and arrested .i think that if the pictures are published everyone ban the magazine its published in.and not buy the magazine. unless its authorized by brad and angelina that makes it a whole other story because then they get to choose whats published and im sure everyone knows what a big heart angelina has donating a third of her money to charity . i know it gets tiring of hearing about the same celebritys all the time but at the same time there human they do deserve there privacy. also now that there baby is here and for her other kids. it opens up a can of worms and a big security issue even if they have a zillion diffrent body guards .im sure they have there fair share of obssevive fans & stalkers. i highly doubt brad or angelina will ever read this but if someone that knows them reads this please pass on the messege that there fans are behind them a million and one percent on this one .

60. Just because they are celebrities and they choose that kind of business doesnt mean they don't have a private moments im not defending them as an actors just like other said they also regular people like us whatever they want to do with that picture is not our business but stealing especially personal stuff is defniitely wrong
