Star Jones No Longer Enjoying "The View"

Star JonesOn the heels of Meredith Vieira's departure for the "Today" show, Star Jones Reynolds announced on Tuesday that after nine years of trading barbs with Barbara Walters and Joy Behar she will not be returning to "The View."

On-air Jones said the reason for her departure was because "the show is moving in another direction for its tenth season."  But the daytime diva tells PEOPLE magazine a different story.  Jones says her contract was not renewed, adding "I feel like I was fired."

Reports had been surfacing of Jones' exit ever since it was announced Rosie O'Donnell, one of Jones' biggest rivals, would replace Vieira.

Although no announcement has been made about Jones' replacement, rumors had once circulated naming Oprah Winfrey's best gal pal Gayle King is a possibility. Gayle has denied that she will be joining the show. In a recent article New York Daily News columnist Lloyd Grove named radio talk show host Bo Griffin as another possible replacement.

Jones will stay with "The View" until mid-July before taking time off to plan her next move.

31. Thank God.. She was always so stuck on herself and not what America needs to see everyday... I have absolutely no idea how she has made it as far as she has anyway... she has no talent and can't even interview....

33. I am very sad to see Star leave and I am very disappointed in Barbara Walters for picking Rosie in the first place. Even before I knew about Star and Rosie not getting along I had thought about not watching the show when Rosie took over. Now I know I will quit watching the show. I think at this point Barbara can kiss The View goodby. I don't think it can handle losing 2 of its original co hosts. I have never been a fan of Elizabeth but love Joy but even that won't bring me back as a viewer. BIG MISTAKE BARBARA!!!!!

34. I think the timing of Star's announcement was in very poor taste. The first person scheduled for an interview was Charlie Gibson, who is switching from one ABC program to another, and Star managed to some of his glory. To me, Star has always been about Star and her money. We have known about the celebrity people she knows, the parties she has thrown at exotic places, her wedding, ect. I've been sick of it for a long time. Now it's time to get rid of Elizabeth Hasselbeck.

35. Once the announcement was made about Meredith leaving and Rosie O'Donnell coming in, it was never a question of "if" Star would leave but "when". Having Rosie there is going to change the whole direction of the show which I don't think Star would have fit. The chemistry would not be there and it hasn't since Meredith's announcement a few months back. I have not enjoyed the show as much with Barbara in the "leader"chair. The chemistry between those 4 are not as gelled as when Meredith was there. So as in life, when you get lemons you make lemonade. Whatever we think about Star the personality, not renewing her contract was a slap in the face and she was obligated to resign. It happens to regular people all the time and it hurts no matter who you are. Loyalty does not hold the regard it used to and now its all about the ratings and the revenue dollars. So don't hate the player, everybody, hate the game. Godd luck Star she is going to land on both feet without a doubt.

36. Although I respect her as a person, I did not enjoy her on the show. But I cannot for the life of me see why they want to replace her with such a loudmouth, obnoxious person such as Rosie O'Donnell. I don't think it will help the show, I think it's going to make it not so watchable. Meredith was the only one worth tuning in for.

37. I never really watch the show but the last time I saw it Star was a Big and Beautiful Woman. Then when I saw it again she lost weight I said WOW she looks GOOD and I want to say if you feel happy within yourself it does not matter what people think of you it is all about you. People always have a way of downing someone but do people think about where they r at. God Blessing everyone different and if u feel that a person is acting different because of God's Blessing then u need to turn to him and see how it feels. God Bless u Star and remeber as long as u have God first the Devil will not interfear.

39. Yes Star Jones was annoying, but Bushbot Elisabeth is even more annoying. Elisabeth has absolutely no talent, hopefully she'll be the next one to go.

40. I am glad she is leaving. She is a bore and so into herself. Even lying about how she lost her weight. She so wants to bbe a Diva and it will never happen. I predict when she leaves the show, in a couple of years she will be completely forgotten....hopefully I was going to quit watching the show if she stayed and they need to replace Elizabeth.

41. Star Jones is a bore, more interested in promoting herself, than being a talk show host. In addition, Jones is not 'camera friendly', when she co-anchored LARRY KING LIve- I had to switch channels, Jones was just too unpleasant to look at. Jones has not been truthful about her -bypass surgery to lose weight, and American tv watches are certainly not stupid, to know that Jones underwent the sugery to lose the huge amount of weight. She has an unpleasant voice, and an equally unpleasant face, and her comments add to zero. I am glad that Jones has been replaced on the The View.

43. I'm dissapointed that would have been way fun to watch...haha...can't you just see Rosie and Star on the same show? I think they both have issues...

44. It is time for her to depart. She gave very little to the ensemble. Her "big head" attitude was a negative. But I enjoyed the other ladies enough to watch. As for Rosie's arrival. . . I'll watch something else. Star's exit is probably a 'plus', but Rosie is definitely a 'minus'. Barbara, I think you screwed up with Rosie and the ratings will show it now that she doesn't have Star to throw 'barbs' at.
