Star Jones No Longer Enjoying "The View"

Star JonesOn the heels of Meredith Vieira's departure for the "Today" show, Star Jones Reynolds announced on Tuesday that after nine years of trading barbs with Barbara Walters and Joy Behar she will not be returning to "The View."

On-air Jones said the reason for her departure was because "the show is moving in another direction for its tenth season."  But the daytime diva tells PEOPLE magazine a different story.  Jones says her contract was not renewed, adding "I feel like I was fired."

Reports had been surfacing of Jones' exit ever since it was announced Rosie O'Donnell, one of Jones' biggest rivals, would replace Vieira.

Although no announcement has been made about Jones' replacement, rumors had once circulated naming Oprah Winfrey's best gal pal Gayle King is a possibility. Gayle has denied that she will be joining the show. In a recent article New York Daily News columnist Lloyd Grove named radio talk show host Bo Griffin as another possible replacement.

Jones will stay with "The View" until mid-July before taking time off to plan her next move.

46. It's about time! Star has to be the most grating, annoying, obnoxious, self-serving woman on Television today. I had stopped watching over the past couple of years beause I could not watch her any more! Gayle King would be a welcome addition and I will be watching the View again once she leaves.. But, almost anyone else will do. Good for you, Barbara!

47. Rosie O'Donnell is a nasty, pushy hag. I can't stand her loud mouth BS and turn off any time she is on a show. Rememeber the way she treated Tom Selleck? Good riddance to the view. Meredith was the best part of the show.

48. I am THRILLED that Star Jones is leaving. I stopped watching the View because of her. She has an ego the size of Texas. Then all the wind about her never considering bypass surgery and she then goes and has it done and then doesn't admit it to anyone - what a loser.

Then she bids out her flamboyant wedding to the highest commerical bidder - what a joke. And her husband - does she not realize he's gay?

The mix with her and the rest of the cast - especially Joy Baher - was not good. It was obvious they were all sick of her and her glorification of herself. What an ego.

Bring on Rosie. . she's down to earth and honest and that is very refreshing!!!!

Star - your 30 minutes of fame is up. . . . .and your light has gone out. . . move on.

49. I have been watching the view for many years. My main reason was to see myself a black woman's view of life. I enjoyed all the opinions but Star always made it real you are deally losing a star. She told her true opinion you got to see her soul. As for Rosie Odonnel I don't think that is going to give the show good ratings. You do need another black voice but, be sure to respect them whomever you choose. Star has blossomed since her weight lost and the gang could not handle hervoice and her looks together too much spirit, power, and mind. Thank You , Please be more considerate when making decision who is to go or come on the show. I will not watch the show unless another black person is chosen. 50. I cannot stand this woman. Its a huge surprise she lasted this long. She has a huge mouth and I am so sick of her gloating on her weight loss, and basically just acting like a pretentious bitch.

This woman has a horrible reputation and it is pretty obviousd she brings bad publicity and negative vibes to this show.

This is the start of many problems for Star. Maybe she will learn to keep her mouth shut. She is in for another disappointment when she find out her husband is gay.

53. I think Star is going out just like she wanted. Her fifteen minutes of Fame will die quickly. I never heard of her until the View. But I think today was a slap in the face to Barbara(and also to her to coworkers who used to be friends with each other until Star became STAR) and that is the way she wanted it. Why would you tell everyone you were leaving that way.

54. Too bad Star has been squeezed out for the likes of Rosie O I'm afraid Elisabeth is the next on the chopping block Rosie will eat her alive and Star won't be there to protect her I'll never watch again Shame on Barbara Walters

56. Star will be much happier when she leaves The View. She is better off. When Merideth decided to leave, it was obvious how it effected Star Jones. Having Rosie is a mistake in Talk Show placement. I think Rosie should have joined Ellen or had another show of her own. The View will never be the same.

You've done some pretty great things and have inspired many with your make over, proving it can be done. Lot's of success in the future.

59. Star was annoying, but Bushbot Elisabeth is far more annoying. Elisabeth has absolutely no talent and lacks professionalism. She's the reason why many people have stopped watching the view.
