Deb to Star -- What Goes Around Comes Around

Star Jones & Debbie MatenopoulosDebbie Matenopoulos had a message for ex-friend Star Jones in an interview today, something along the lines of: Payback's a bitch.

The former "View" co-host appeared on Fox TV's "Good Day LA"  Friday morning, revealing that she and Star were extremely close, that is until Debbie got the boot in 1999.  She says that's when Star completely abandoned her.  "The thing that was most hurtful to me," said Debbie, "was that I thought that [she] was my friend, and then [she] was nowhere to be found."

As Debbie pointed out,  "It's called 'show business,' not show 'friends.'"

Debbie added that she wasn't upset about having to leave the show, saying she was told  that the show had to move "in a different direction," which is the equivalent of getting dumped and being told "It's me, not you."

Et tu, Star.

391. It's hard to feel sorry for any of these spoiled witches when you've lost not only your job but also your home, like I and thousands of others did after Hurricane Katrina.

392. Star was told from the time she was informed that her contract was not going to be renewed, that she could say anything she wanted. That is what she did. Why should Barbara (who we know made the decision since it is her show) have the say as to when Star leaves? Star was working under what could only be considered very uncomfortable conditions. Barbara is a control freak and in my opinion she is the one who should be going. She is always making bazaar statements, trying to appear younger than she is. I say it was her decision to let Star go just as it was her decision to hire Rosie. Rosie is definitely not a team player and will dominate The View. Her addition is a mistake and I will no longer watch the program. Can you imagine Barbara hanging around several months after being told her contract was not going to be renewed? Star did not make any angry remarks. It is Barbara who is showing no class!

393. every since Star lost all her weight (( in a way she still wont come clean about.. )) she thinks she's god's gift... when your contract is not renewed you dont throw a hissy fit on TV you talk to your bosses OFF camera.. she's went about this in a childish manner, trying to get the "Ohh-pity-me!" attention and she went to far! She had the opportunity to back out gracefully, and she didnt. No one is gonna want to hire her now! Not with the knowledge that she's a drama-queen ! She's only burning her own bridges and screwing things up for her own future... she's the one who have to lay in the bed she made... I hope its comfy!

394. Barbara is a powerful for to be reckoned with. Trust me. I'm definitely not a Star fan, but I think she will do fine. She should have played the game. It wasn't Barbara who decided she must go. The wedding crap and her conspicuous consumption a la borrowed diamonds and hideous, tastless cocktail outfits ruined her credibility long before any weight loss issue (which really is her own business). Star had little to offer and had run her course.
As for Debbie, she needs a good manager. I've never been a big Rosie fan but I think she will bring some good stuff to the table.

395. The African community would be so much better served if they had high profile examples of dignity and a touch of humility with their success. Star Jones has not added much to the view over the years and her wedding and weight lose issues have shown her true gold digging potential.
On the other hand the View has and will continue to be simply a platform for women to talk over each other and babble on endlessly about their insignificant and basically worth less views.

396. I knew someone would make this about race sooner or later. Is that why Barbra has been looking for another "strong" black woman to replace her. Star's been on for 9 years. She actually got weaker as time rolled on- if she was so "strong" she wouldnt have became so self absorbed. She lost weight to marry a man rumored to be"gay". If she was strong she woulds have stayed the way she was and said" This is who you said you fell in love with" That would be the quote of a strong woman.

397. I would like to know out of all the other View members, why Barbara Walters is commenting that Star is a traitor? Personally, they could have and probably should have let her go also. I know that she is a powerful figure in the media, but she seems as though she could stir up any cauldron and has done so in this incident. If Star felt that she had to do it this way in order to feel in control of her life, who should feel betrayed by that action. The whole thing is getting just too much press and we all know there are infinitely more important things that should be focused on in the world. So just get to refocusing, and get over this.

398. Although I am a fan, (excuse me, a former fan) I have never heard of Debbie. Guess I am lucky to have tuned in after she left. As for Star, in my opinon she is a "star"! I have always thought highly of Barbara Walters; however; my opinion is changing. When it was announced that Rosie would be replacing Meridith, I knew my viewing would be minimal. What was Barbara thinking? Now I am certain I have seen my last View. I'm sticking with Star. You go girl!

399. I think a lot of focus is on the WAY she left and not WHY she left or had to leave. This would cause a person to decide HOW they wanted to go. Now, Barbara said they would back up what ever reason Star wanted to give. So, why did they not back her up and let it go? Let's get to the REAL nitty here. Didnt this all start with the fact that Star didnt want to reveal how she lost her weight while her co host was struggling with a weight loss program as well? Star land slided her with the weight loss and didnt tell or lied about her personal business. Then she marries and has a BOSS wedding with a man of questionable sexuality. They got in her business about that also even on the AIR! ( petty, petty!!) I say, it is all Stars business. leave her alone. WOMEN!! i dont understand us sometimes.

400. Im so happy Star did what she did. Because the real Bi@*!es are the people on the View. I mean who the hell are they to demand when and where she wants to announce her employment situation. I say they need to get a life and and take there plastic faces out there a@@es. They need to stop acting like this whole world revolves around them..................

401. by the way... who is debbie... Why does she think it is attractive to let the world know she was fired as an employee AND dumped as a friend? If she were my friend, I would have decided she was not friendship material also. Sometimes you can just see that in people ahead of time, and it didnt take the network or Star long to see she needed to go.

402. Please Please Star will shine again trust me on that!
Yes shame on Barbara! My question: would she have hired Rosie if Rosie had talked about one of the other women on the show like that silly blond girl that sits next to Joy? No but the black girl yeah! Joy is the only one on that show that keeps it real.Star helped make that boring ass show become a top rating show. And what makes Barbara think that hiring fat ass Rosie will help with the shows ratings when her own show was canceled.
I am sick of Barbara who does she think she is Oprah?

403. Barbara has had a cutthroat rep for years in the tabs. She clawed her way to the top when there were very few women to compete. It was this same blind self-regard that makes Star look classy in the way she (Star) handled the whole situation vs. management. I will be watching a classier Ellen DeGeneres come September and good luck Star I will be looking for your next gig...which is a surprise to me!:)

404. Best Wishes to Star Jones!!!! The show is about to go down. I will never watch it again. They could not stand Star because she was as obnoxious and arrogant as her white colleagues so they showed her the BLACK door.

405. I know Debbie -- she's been a friend of mine for years. She told me about how horrible Star was to her when this happened to her -- so I'm not surprised in the least that "karama is a bitch" and Star has just received some.

Don't beat up on Debbie for telling the truth. Truth be told, Debbie and Star had just returned from a weekend getaway in the carribean together when Debbie was told she was fired. Star knew all along and NEVER called her to see if she was okay -- needed help -- nuttin. And to this day, Star has never reached out to Debbie so why is she complaining that no one has called her other than Elizabeth.

Hopefully, Star Jones Reynolds will never get another job on-air again. Let her fad into the distance with her "formerly-gay-now-saved-christian" hubby and bake cookies in Dallas.

Good riddance to bad rubbish!
