Faux Star Replaces Star

Click to go to TMZ.comIt didn't take long for Barbara Walters to find Star 2.0.

On this morning's "The View", Barbara, Joy Behar, and Elisabeth Hasselbeck strode out onto the stage with an attractive, slender African American woman who took a seat that wasn't even cold yet.

The Star-alike is Renee Elise Goldsberry, who, ironically enough, isn't a lawyer, but plays one on TV. Goldsberry's an actress on the soap "One Life to Live," whose character, according to her online bio,  is "a tough-as-nails defense attorney with a compassionate heart" (The compassionate heart thing is kind of a left turn for attorneys on "The View."). Goldsberry begins her bio by saying she "gives all glory to God for being the author of her biography," not un-reminiscent of the kind of pronouncement Star was wont to make.

The show went on as usual with no reference to Barbara  vs. the fired Star, except when Goldsberry said she "wasn't a lawyer," and wasn't going to get "in the middle of things." Goldsberry added that she just happened to "have nothing else to do" when she was asked to guest host  (She has hosted twice before earlier this year).

But there were signs that the ghost of Star was haunting the halls, when the audio went completely out. Barbara blamed it on "global warming."  Riiiiight.

32. I will continue to watch "the View"...I am wondering how Rosie will fit in, but I am sure it will be interesting if nothing else..I would like to see Gayle, (Oprah's friend) take Stars place..she is down to earth and has a lot of common sense...I don't see any "DIVA" in Gayle...Star knew before they announced Rosie as Meridiths replacement that her contract would not be renewed..

33. I am a teacher and just started watching "The View" last summer. I enjoyed it and started watching again this summer. Subsequently, I never watched it before Star lost the weight and got married. Therefore, I feel that I am pretty unbiased because I wasn't aware of all the "drama". I felt she added very well thought-out comments to the group discussion.

34. I hope this means that The View will continue to implode and will go away for good. Meredith likely left when she did because she could see what was coming. The show is so annoying....Barbara is a blithering idiot, Elisabeth is a right wing Hitler youth, and Joy is not the least bit funny. Adding Rosie to this mix can not be good. I was once a fan of Rosie, but her hateful attitude in the last few years has turned me off. Star was just as annoying but I think she is getting a raw deal from ABC. I hope she sues for discrimination!

35. I did not like Star but I think she got the shaft. Babs and ABC knew what was going on and were sugar coating it so as not to hurt star. Boy did that backfire! I do not watch the show everyday but have been tuning in to see how it's being handled or not handled as the case may be. Everyone seems tense at the table, like they are just waiting for the truth to come out. Star star was fading since she did not reveal her weight loss secret and blabbing every detail of her wedding but it seems wrong that the powers that be decided to essentially shaft her the way they did. They just should have given it to her straight last fall and paid out her contract till the end, but instead they shafted her and then hired rosie. I really think that hiring rosie and firing of star will nail the coffin shut on this insipid chat fest once and for all. At least we could all hope!

36. That girl was BORING! Looks like they just went out to find someone who looked similar to Star with less talk and less attitude.
I for one hope they give the audience a chance to vote on guest hosts to replace Star and Rosie changes her mind about coming. Rosie could be the downfall of the show.

37. Oh, Misha. You poor thing... Go watch your Jerry Springer reruns and stay off this board where intelligent individuals can discuss happenings of the day... Hotsauce, Star will not have leg to stand on in court. She has a terrible reputation. The public has lost all faith in her. She was damaging the ratings on The View with all of her publicity stunts! She thinks she is in a league of her own (above the rest of us) because she is on tv. Bashing Rosie because she is fat shows a lack of class on your part. That explains your comments about B. Walters as well. You can't relate to a real lady with grace and dignity!!

38. As a regular viewer of The View I am thrilled that "Starlet" is kaput. She is a pompous ass.....and a big one at that! She asked for everything she got! It all backfired on her.....good.

39. The great Barbara Walter has shown us a side of herself that should have been kept away from the public. She is a bitch, she is a liar, she is a backstabber and she is a phony.

Star Jones has made a huge contribution on the View. Take it or leave it...It was mostly those 3 ladies for the past 10 years..with lisa ling the best for the 20 something. It's called respect and Barbara crying that she tried to protect Star...my gawd!, If i had Barbara protection, I'll be dead. That's called protection...give it up. Star fell out of favor with Barbara and that was it. I find it strange that all the news leaks about Star being fired or let go has been going on since last year but Barbara said that last Nov/05 the decision was made to no renew her contract...but they still needed the viewers Star drew in, and continue to lie to the audience and Star until 2 months ago...because Barbara was trying to protect her...all the while destroying her credibility with all the gossip leaks and to even have Liz Smith blurb on Page Six saying how Babs couldn't stand Star and have for a while.....tacky, tacky, tacky...No class Barbara is what I will be calling her now.

This is about business and Barbara has been trying to control the situation at the same time use and abuse Star contribution on the show. To have Rosie O'donnell publicly trash Star on her website..the same week the anouncement is made about her replacing Vierra, is most telling and to have Rosie announcement on the Emmy Awards is just rude and disrespectful for all the ladies.

That should have been a separate announcement...at the Emmys but not on the same stage with everyone else. Tacky, Tacky, Tacky...I lost my respect for Barbara Walters right then and there....didn't trust her. She lose all credibility with me...she straight out lied to her audience, which is me. There was no need to tell me she was keeping Star...that her business, if she had class all this would have been handle behind close door but it wasn't.

She should had came clean to Star and let her look for a job....if she didn't want drama...then end the relationship, pay off the contract and be done with it. But then Barbara would had have to work her ass ooff and come to work everyday...which has been a disaster. ABC can't complain about Star wedding and all the talk about it because they encouraged it and got big rating out of it. All the stuff they're complaining about is Star personal business and she has the right to her marriage and her weight loss. The wedding problems did not get address until, it became a joke...Star is a lawyer and if she was sat down in the begining and explained about the law and the appreances..that would had stopped but I don't see much of that until the end.

I'm not a huge fan of Star but she did have intelligence, chemistry and personality. She is a DIVA, so are all the women on the VIEW and she did start to believe the hype...but so did all the women on the View. Well Star is eating humble pie but Barbara Walters...hmmm made this worst by how she reacted and I get the feeling that Star is telling the truth because Barbara is protesting too, too much.

40. I thought Star Jones Reynolds was a great co-host for the view. She never took sides even when the others made rude comments about people in general. Maybe it was best she left the view. Barbara Walters is not a saint and neither is the smerky broad that sits beside her (what ever her name may be). The one that always has a smerk on her face even when she laughs...Yes, that one. I think it is best that Star is moving on and I don't think she will have a problem obtaining worth-while employment. The view was a waste of TV time and energy. Why would Barbara Walters think Star would leave the show quietly, after being fired. When an employer refuses to renew your contract.....Hello....that means you no longer have employment. Now, you can call that anything you want, but in reality, it means you are fired, not on lay-off, or on suspension. It means at a specific date and time, your services will no longer be needed/requested. However, I think Barbara Walters could have used a more professional and educated avenue of ending the contract of someone that has been your employee for over a decade. And lets not mention Rosie O'Donnel because she has and always will be a slouchy, vulgar, big mouthed woman lover. Rosie has done many great things and helped a multitude of people, but let not your good be evil spoken of. Rosie should have straddled the fence and not gotten into the Walters/Jones punching match or taken sides. But you know the saying...Birds of the same feather, always stick together. Good luck Star.

41. I never realized how mean and nasty people can be. So Star left the view--if I were the others, I'd watch my back. They all must remember, God does not like ugly. Are you allowed to print the name of God?

42. I love Renee E. Goldsberry. I saw her co-hosting The View several times before today's co-hosting, and she is FABULOUS! A beautiful spirit inside and out. I can see her as a permanent addition to the show, and a positve addition to the show as well. Carry on dear friend, Renee. I'm in your corner. :)

43. I watched The View in the beginning and thought that it was a neat show. Star was always my favorite. However, it wasn't long before watching the show was like being allowed to watch the rich sorority girls. At the time, Rosie was on and she was so generous with her audience and others while The View ladies kept all of the goodies for themselves, their staff, etc. Their in studio audience didn't appear to be too valued. They bragged about their expensive vacations and privileged lives. My viewership decreased, but I still watched from time to time. Then something happened to my hero, Star. She appeared to become too self-centered for words. The wedding hoopla just was about more than I could stand and it didn't seem to stop after that.

I liked Meredith Vieira and watched her send off show. Oh my gosh! That was the worst, most embarrassing show I've ever seen. It was something on the level of public access. Whoever planned that show SHOULD be fired. It was a slap on the face for Meredith. I was embarrassed for her.

Rosie does seem to be an odd choice for the show and I was really looking forward to Rosie and Star sniping at each other. I'm willing to give Rosie the benefit of the doubt as I really respected the wonderful things that she did for others on her show and I hope that she can teach the ladies something about caring for others.

Finally, I thought that Ms. Goldsberry did a great job today and would be a fine addition. My first choice would be Gail King, I think that she could hold her own with everyone including Rosie.

44.

Just wanted to have my say. Star was the star of the view. How long will it Rosie To put it out of business not long. There are other programs on at the same time as the view.

45. Does anyone realize how many times Star Jones Reynolds saved the panel from making a mess out of conversations gone crazy? She was often the only voice of reason, especially if Meredith was absent. Meredith and Star are true intellectuals......Joy Behar is truly hilarious....Elisabeth and Ms. Walters are the 'ditzi-est' ones on the panel. Barbara Walters cannot be spontaneous.....it's so obvious that she can't speak in complete sentences unless she's reading the tele-prompter. ABC needs to apologize for this fiasco.....I'm not saying that Star should come back.....she is TOO SMART for this panel. Eliszbeth needs to be shown the door!!!!
