Faux Star Replaces Star

Click to go to TMZ.comIt didn't take long for Barbara Walters to find Star 2.0.

On this morning's "The View", Barbara, Joy Behar, and Elisabeth Hasselbeck strode out onto the stage with an attractive, slender African American woman who took a seat that wasn't even cold yet.

The Star-alike is Renee Elise Goldsberry, who, ironically enough, isn't a lawyer, but plays one on TV. Goldsberry's an actress on the soap "One Life to Live," whose character, according to her online bio,  is "a tough-as-nails defense attorney with a compassionate heart" (The compassionate heart thing is kind of a left turn for attorneys on "The View."). Goldsberry begins her bio by saying she "gives all glory to God for being the author of her biography," not un-reminiscent of the kind of pronouncement Star was wont to make.

The show went on as usual with no reference to Barbara  vs. the fired Star, except when Goldsberry said she "wasn't a lawyer," and wasn't going to get "in the middle of things." Goldsberry added that she just happened to "have nothing else to do" when she was asked to guest host  (She has hosted twice before earlier this year).

But there were signs that the ghost of Star was haunting the halls, when the audio went completely out. Barbara blamed it on "global warming."  Riiiiight.

46. What an avoidable mess. I remember reading that Star had her apartment up for sale awhile back. She knew her contract would not be renewed. That's why they are signed year to year. Keep your nose clean and we invite you back. She didn't ,so she is out. Star knows the rules . She had time to find something new and save face.Barbara was willing to protect her. It is not Barbara's fault that nobody wants to hire Star. They agreed to tell the viewers on Thursday but Star jumped the gun and told on Tuesday; because Star complained and whined to People magazine. She knew Barbara would find out by Thursday. In my mind Star did not act in an ethical and moral mannner. I am glad that Star is off the show. She lost me when she said it is nobody's business how she lost the weight. It was the nasty way she said it. She could have smiled and said no comment. After that, whatever she said about her husband, family, vacation plans or any thoughts she had,I automatically told myself that it was none of my business.!! I used to wonder why Bill Getty or Barbara didn't stop Bridezilla when she was going for all those freebies. Maybe that's a reason for not renewing a contract
Here's to a fresh breeze called Rosie!!! Agree with her or not, and she is loud, at least she is honest.

47. I think both sides were wrong in their own way. I always felt that Barbara was phoney and a Snob. And I don't think she should've expected Star to come in like all was well and have her put on a happy face, pretending that everything was nice...nice.
I am glad that Star did what she did on Tuesday...Barbara deserved it! At least Star was honest about it instead of phoney like Barbara was being.
On the other hand..Star was getting on my nerves by acting like she was above the others and if I had to hear one more time about her stupid wedding I was going to scream. I also don't like how narrow minded she can be and how she is now acting like she likes Dogs, when she always made it known that she was not an animal lover.
I have some issues with Rosie..cause I've heard she is not easy to work with but at least with Rosie..what you see is what you get and I agree with her on how Star should've been honest about her weight loss. What is the big deal? Many people have tummy tucks and whatnot.
The 2 people I like the most are gone..Lisa and Meredith...the others simply get on my nerves...although it may be fun to watch 2 funny ladies together..Rosie and Joy ... just wish Joy was more open minded....
I wish them all well...but they are annoying..hopefully Rosie can help the show.

48. What an insulting lead-in! Renee Elise Goldsberry is nothing like Star unless the author believes all black people look alike!

Ms. Goldsberry was a fun, informed, humorous, articulate guest co-host who happens to be a beautiful African-American woman. Why cast a shadow over her appearance just because of the Star Wars?

49. . I'm sorry I wasn't really fond of Star,But Rosie is a complete out of place change there is no way she belongs on that stage with the other ladies and I don't intend to watch.Everyone is entitled to thier way of life but that also means we don't have to watch it.Rosie's personallity has changed since she had her show and it has changed for the worse. This Country has gone way downhill but its to much for us to have a woman on stage and outspoken about her homelife. And there's no way it will not be discussed. I think about the old Jerry Sienfield show. They were aways saying we're not gay not that theres anything wrong with that.I thought it was stupid there and still do. Just because someone is Barbara's friend doesn't mean they belong in that show.My friends and I go out to eat or to a show a lot. How many times have you been out to eat or to a movie with your friend Barbara.
Well I've said enough, but you can count one person that will not watch you again. I'm sure you don't give a dam and thats fine cause thats how I feel about your view.

WHAT THE F!@# ARE YOU TALKING ABOUT MORON?!

50. I have not liked Starlet Jones since our AU days. She was self-centered and about herself then and always will be. Starlet jumped the gun on Babs to generate publicity. She has known for MONTHS that she wasn't coming back to The View and couldn't get another gig. It was a planned strategy on her part and apprently a whole lotta folks are falling for it.

As for Renee Goldsberry, she is a competent, talented professional and I wish her all the best in whatever endeavor she pursues - Broadway, soaps, television, movies, the View, CD's...all of which she has done before.

51. Renee was fabulous! I don't normally watch the View (the bickering doesn't really appeal to me), I liked Renee. Maybe she should be Star's replacement?

52. Why is Renee Elise Goldsberry referred to as "faux" in the title of this post? She has appeared on the View at least three times before today. Not to mention she has starred on Broadway in the Lion King and recently in the Color Purple. She was nominated for a daytime emmy in her role on One Life To Live, and last summer she received wonderful reviews as Sylvia in Two Gentleman Of Verona in the Shakespeare in The Park production. Renee is not only a beautiful face but multi talented and has received rewards for her songwriting abilities and she has a voice to die for. So before you go negative on Ms Goldsberry for no apparent reason I'd do my research.

53. Renee Elise Goldsberry is a successful actress on One Life to Live and the attempt to malign her for a catchy story headline is just plain wrong. So freakin what, Star Jones upstaged her boss' firing of her. It's the dream of every fired employee and most times the perfect ending to hollywood's working 9-5 type movie fantasies. Don't hate, celebrate and take notes. And Renee, please be very careful, you are swimming with sharks baby girl.

54. You're an idiot to think that just because they asked a Black actress to guest host - they meant the gesture as a "replacement Star". I bet if they had chosen a white host - you would have said they were trying to erase the ethnicity that Star provided.

55. I know that I will not be watching the view in the next few months maybe I will never watch it again. Rosie does not fit in with the View crew, she is way to loud and .............. I remember when she was a guest host once my TV switched channels on it's own. NOT ROSIE....... you are going to lose a large portion of your audience.

56. Sam, I agree! Rosie is going to shake things up! I like it that Rosie speaks her mind, and she wasn't complaining about Star's weight loss, she was just saying that Star should come clean about the surgery that helped her accomplish it. We're not stupid, and I think Star liked to think we are. As for Rosie's being gay - who cares? I don't watch or "not" watch a show because of someone's sexual orientation. ROSIE - continue to speak your mind!

57. I think what the view did was underhanded. I don't think it was so bad if Starr decided to tell the world of her departure two days earlier than planned. It isn't as if they had planned a party for her. They decided to not renew her contract so they weren't going to give her the Meredith treatment. I have to agree with the comment that them calling Renee wasn't just a fluke. Because they have had countless other women host the show. They could have called anyone of them. Not all of them work for ABC as does Renee does so I think she may have felt obligated to show up. They are playing games. I have lost most of my respect for Barbara after this. I didn't know until BW told the world the reason Starr was leaving was because they had decided not to renew her contract. Starr didn't announce that on the tv Barbara did.

58. Star is a very very interesting person .I watched the show because of her. She has an incredable intellect....................and lots of common sense. I will really really miss her. Her comments always added a new dimension to the show (more depth). She just was not fluff . She deserves much better. This is how people are eliminated...(cover ups and dishonesty). I applaud her for not taking it. Sure hope this helps others down the road. It seems the wrong person was hired (Rosie)..not compatable with the show at all...we need serious interesting chatter..... not fluffy junk talk. I wish Star continuing success Thanks

59. I think Star is delusional if she thinks Barbara Walters was ever her friend.

60. I have made a comment already, but wanted to
add that I have no problem with Rosie being gay,
my daughter is gay and she is in love and a
wonderful person.
I also wanted to add that I saw Star tonight on
Larry King, some things were alright that she said,
and I think Barbara deserved it when Star said she
was leaving on Tuesday and didn't wait till the next
day to say it and make it phoney like Barbara
wanted. But then Barbara is 2 faced and phoney.
On the other hand, I found Star to be a bit snooty
when I saw her on the Larry King show tonight.
When she said that she would not want a black
Actress or someone that did not have a degree or
whatever to take her place on the view. Just cause
someone does not have a degree does Not make
them stupid. Star is not above anyone else in brain
power. We all have something to offer.
Glad I got these above comments off my chest,
now I can go to sleep. LOL
