Faux Star Replaces Star

Click to go to TMZ.comIt didn't take long for Barbara Walters to find Star 2.0.

On this morning's "The View", Barbara, Joy Behar, and Elisabeth Hasselbeck strode out onto the stage with an attractive, slender African American woman who took a seat that wasn't even cold yet.

The Star-alike is Renee Elise Goldsberry, who, ironically enough, isn't a lawyer, but plays one on TV. Goldsberry's an actress on the soap "One Life to Live," whose character, according to her online bio,  is "a tough-as-nails defense attorney with a compassionate heart" (The compassionate heart thing is kind of a left turn for attorneys on "The View."). Goldsberry begins her bio by saying she "gives all glory to God for being the author of her biography," not un-reminiscent of the kind of pronouncement Star was wont to make.

The show went on as usual with no reference to Barbara  vs. the fired Star, except when Goldsberry said she "wasn't a lawyer," and wasn't going to get "in the middle of things." Goldsberry added that she just happened to "have nothing else to do" when she was asked to guest host  (She has hosted twice before earlier this year).

But there were signs that the ghost of Star was haunting the halls, when the audio went completely out. Barbara blamed it on "global warming."  Riiiiight.

61. I wished everyone would just take a breath and cool down. It's disturbing to see so much negative, and sometimes mean, comments. Yes, it was wrong of ABC/The View not to renew Star's contract. Are they trying to convince us or themselves that Star had no place on the panel after nine years of dedication?!Maybe Star did have a right to choose when to announce her departure from the show, on her terms. I am definitely perplexed why Rosie, of all people, would be invited to co-host. She hasn't been gracious and 'sharing' of the limelight the few times she has visited. They definitely got their work cut out for them. I just hope they can be more selective when looking for a new co-host to replace Star. And not throw some 'friend' of the show into the slot. Let's remember The View should represent us the viewers, of all colors, races, age groups, and our various stages of life.

62. To be honest, I couldn't be happier that Star is gone...Thank God for no more of the "I'm a diva, bow down to me!" Star attitude. I'm super excited about Rosie coming on- she'll definitely a fresh face for the show. I don't know too much about Renee, but she seems nice enough. It's definitely going to be an adjustment with the new faces/personalites....but I think it'll all work out.

63. I read when Rosie was asked to come onto the View, Rosie made a condition that stated Gay Al's wife had to GO! It worked; Starzilla is gone! And I'm kinda glad and sad. I enjoyed the bickerings between her and Joy. And Star made my eyes rolled back many, many times. She actually was more relevant and funnier than that uptight, conservative pro-Bush Hasselhag! Oh well, life goes on...and bless her heart, that Star.

64. I always respected Barbara Walters as one of the top people in the Media Industry, but I have to say, what they did to Star was not nice at all. I was very disappointed that Barbara Walters will operate like that. When you think you know someone you really don't. I thought Star took her exit very gracious and did it in her time which no one should be angry at her for telling it like it is and being truthful about the whole situation. I live my life my simple words every day. "God does not like ugly" so people need to be very mindful of how the treat others.

65. Renee has been on view as guest cohost before-she is a very talented emmy nominated actress and has done stage work as well as OLTL she also has a beautiful singing voice-she would be a great addition to the show-She is becoming a lead actress equal to Susan Lucci and D. Hall on daytime and deserves some respect. Star will find another opportunity move on.

66. I love Star and I am very proud of her accomplishments. I really hated to see her go, but God may have something better for her. I just wish she will remain a close relationship with Barbara Walters. I am so proud to see my cousin Renee on yesterday, I only pray for the best for her and that she will be hired by ABC as a co-host. on the View, because I have been watching the View since it's debut. I like the diversity of the View.

67. I think it's humorous at how big these womens egos are. b-walters said that they wanted to protect Star and let her go out with dignity. Star attempted to do exactly that when she came out to the audience. I think that everyone gets full of themselves from time to time, and Stars behavior could have been interpreted as arrogant over that particular span of time. Nethertheless, I think that the show could have taken a different approach with Star and stuck in there with her. American people are so fickle that they'll hate you one week and the next week they love you. I also think that there could have been some jealousy from the other Co-host, Star was a very succussful attorney, outspoken, highly articulate, and many times her co-host couldn't out talk Star. With the wedding and loss of weight, Star began to get a lot more attention than some of her co-host, and there's nothing more sickening to another woman than for some other woman to be in the spot light. I definitely think that star helped to make her own bed with her arrogant behavior, but I also think that there was a lot of jealousy involved, including barbara walters.

68. Who is the person saying that Renee Goldsberry is Fake Starr. How un-freakingbelievable. Renee and Starr are two diffrent woman, just because they are both black, doesn't mean a darn thing. If they were both white this stupid article would not have been written. IMO I don't care about Starr, I do feel bad for how The View and BW handled this situation but in all honesty I enjoyed Renee Goldsberry on Thursday when I watched. She's very beautiful and she adds something to the show that I like. Not to say i'll watch the View more often but I liked the woman and if they hired her or Gayle(Oprah's friend) to replace Starr great for them.

70. This blog by this TMZ author is pathetic, Starr Jones lost her position because ABC would not renew her contract. That has nothing to do with Renee Goldsberry how dare this pathetic author call Renee G. Faux Starr J. Is the woman crazy. I wonder if the author is Black..hmm I bet if they hired a white woman to guest host this author would be screaming racism..what a load of BS. I guess The View should not replace Starr with a Black Woman, actually I hope they don't replace Starr with a Black woman I hope it's a young pretty Blond White woman...maybe all the racial talks would stop....Goodness!!!

71. Watched Larry King and listened to a sickenly sweet voice, so quiet.so determined, by Star. She tried to rationalize and excuse her bad behavior by saying that she made SOME bad mistakes. She didn't get it still. She is not the boss, she does not get to pick the time or place. She was part of a group. She still played the diva . Grow up and move on. Admit the surgery not by using cute words like medical intervention. Try it you might be believed.

72. I do watch the View but am not planning to once Rosie starts in September. I think it would be too much with her. I can't stand to here her much less think she has anything worth talking about not unless you like folks who stir up trouble. I think with her coming on the show it will have trouble staying afloat! As far as Star, I liked her in the beginning but felt sometimes she could be some-what racist. But hey, that's my opinion. I do wish her the best in life.

73. I am SO glad that Star is gone. I hate that Meredith is gone, but I will be tuning in to the Today Show so that's ok. The View won't last another year. (without Ms Viera) which is sad because I genuinely like Barbara, Joy & Elizabeth (kinda). Star turned me off of the View long ago, so good riddance, lady!!!

74. I love The View and would like to see Star stay along with Rosie. I, also, would like to see a respected Latin woman and an Asian woman too.

75. Renee is not a no name actress. It's evident that you nothing about daytime television or BET. She's not a big name like Star, but she is known. Renee plays Evangeline Williams on One Life To Live (an ABC soap) and she has also been in movies on BET. I love her character on One LIfe To Live. She (Renee) has to eat too. Stars lost was her gain.
