Japan's PM 'Ain't Nothing but a Hound Dog'

With apparently no other pressing matters in the world to attend to, President Bush took time to tour Graceland with Elvis Presley's #1 fan - Japan's Prime Minister Junichiro Koizumi.

Japan's Prime Minister and Elvis
The heads of state played tourists after wrapping up two days of consultations.

Koizumi, who is stepping down from office in September, has been a member of The King's fan club for over 30 years.

Priscilla Presley and Laura BushThe President and Koizumi were joined by Elvis' daughter Lisa Marie Presley and his former wife Priscilla Presley. First Lady Laura Bush, dressed strangely similar to Priscilla,  was also on hand for the festivities which included Elvis' favorite meal of grilled peanut butter and banana sandwiches.

White House aides came up with the idea of the Graceland visit as the perfect gift for the Prime Minister's last official visit to the United States.

According to Elvis Presley Enterprises, which manages the estate, this was the first visit by any sitting president or world leader to Graceland.

31. You know what ? Good PR is good PR, no matter how you get it. It's much better if you can get it honorably. Elvis was troubled, we know that. But, he also had a heart for his fans and for those he could clearly see might not know him at all. Hard to believe someone might not have known Elvis, but stranger things have happened. What a great thing to be able to accompany the Prime Minister of Japan to the home of one of his heroes. It's such a small thing, in the scope of the big picture out there that haunts each of us every day, to be able to make someone happy by touring Graceland with him. Lisa Marie only knew her father until she was NINE years old. Don't fault Priscilla for being there. I am sure that was part of the Prime Minister's dream also. It's difficult for me to think of Elvis without thinking of Priscilla. Let's PICK our battles much more carefully. This
event was lighthearted and full of fun. Just leave it at that. I would love to visit Graceland myself. And, I would probably enjoy it just a little bit more if the Prime Minister of Japan were there having a few light and fun-filled moments in the place that was the home of the great entertainer, Elvis Aron Presley.
I looked into the Prime Minister's eyes, as much as I could see on TV, and I saw a peace loving man who gains much more than mere entertainment from the music of Elvis Presley. Much more. We can all learn from him.

34. HAT OFF TO PRESIDENT BUSH. IT TAKES COURAGE TO ENBRACE A FORMER ENEMY OF AMERICAN. TO SHOW THE WORLD THAT WE CAN LIVE IN PEACE WITH ON ANOTHER. I AM CERTAIN THAT ALL WORLD AFFAIRS WERE TAKEN INTO CONSIDERATION PRIOR TO ANY GRACELAND VISIT. ....................PRAY THAT MAYBE SOMEDAY THE WHOLE WORLD WOULD BE IN SUCH HARMONY.

35.
When these people visit, the White House invites
people they want to see Di wanted to dance with
John Travolta and did. Or, they give them expensive
presents. Elvis just happens to not be
around, and some people want to visit his home as
much as they did him. It's Great, that he's a big fan,
and showed it.
But, I guess because Laura and Priscilla was dressed
alike, George got them mixed up and that's why he
was holding Priscilla's hand instead of Laura's.

36. Here here Brenda Lee, Angel and Marta! Way to go!
And Laura Bush is a very pretty lady and always has been. To the person who said she looks like a robot that's just plain stupid!
I'm just curious as to how does every single thing that starts about having NOTHING to do with President Bush end up as a Bush bashing. It makes me so mad. He did NOT create the war people, the war was already a guarantee by the morons in Iraq killing people!
What happens with celebrities is they feel they have to remain "ageless" they also have so much money they don't have a clue what to do with it. Obviously they do not own mirrors!

38. Laura S, You are out of your damn mind! Yes Saddam was a bad guy, but he wasn't responsible for the deaths of 3000 people on American soil. Bush has wasted time, money, and human lives in Iraq, and by the way this was a war of his own choosing. He should have focused on capturing Bin Laden. Iran and North Korea are far more threats to the United States than Iraq ever was. To criticize isn't bashing, it's just pointing out Bush's sheer ignorance and incompetence.

39. Uhhh you need to get your facts straight Rainlille. Bush did not send our troops to Iraq because of the 9/11 events. He sent them there because of the weapons Saddam had hiding and if you follow the news those weapons were finally found. So he was planning on destroying the US and other parts of the world with those weapons. The guy is absolutely nuts and has murdered so many innocent people. Doesn't the US step in and help where necessary? Isn't that why we are the big power? How many times have we stepped in to help another country and had unfortunate loss of lives? We have brave men and women in the military and buy not standing with Bush it is an insult to them for giving their time and lives.

Also, there are troops in Afghanistan searching for Bin Laden. He is just doing a better job of hiding.

In any case, it's pretty sad that no one can stand behind our leader no matter what their opinions. It makes Americans look terrible to criticize their leader during a time of war.

There are lots of threats to the United States and no one likes war but when it does happen we have to stand up and support our President and by doing that it shows our sorrow for the lives lost and also by continuing on until necessary it makes certain that the lives lost were not in vain.

Oh, give me a break. I hope you made sarcastic remarks about it when Clinton golfed through the Rwandan genocide.

42. "With apparently no other pressing matters in the world to attend to, President Bush took time to tour Graceland with Elvis Presley's #1 fan - Japan's Prime Minister Junichiro Koizumi."

By that standard, no president should ever have one minute off. Get real, TMZ. Did you criticize Bill Clinton for golfing during the Rwandan genocide??

43. It so easy to spot the irrational Bush haters who whip out their best double standard logic and trash the guy no matter what he does for America. Remember when he took on Afghanistan and Iraq, the haters said, "He is a cowboy and he should be building alliances and working with the world leaders". Today in post # 4 Amy 0 Stars says, "Why is Bush working to develop relationships with world leaders, he should be cloistered in the White House fighting a war". The relativists like Amy don't want to have it both ways, they just want to have it their way. Now it's clear why she has zero stars. She is probably too young to remember that great warrior and intellectual President Jimmy Carter who announced that he would not leave the White House until the Iranian's freed the American hostages 444 days later. That clearly gave a bunch of bandits control over the "leader of the free world". Oh yeah Amy - let's do that one again. And some of us remember that Carter did leave the White House when our American citizens were freed.... that would have been on Ronald Reagan's inauguration day !!

45. It's ashame Elvis never toured the world, what's worse is
he is more repected by other nations than here, same
goes for Our President. If you never saw Elvis Live, shut
the f*ck up. If you never served honorably in the military
but enjoy the freedom of talking sh*t on the internet, and
whining about situations you know nothing about, shut the
f*ck-up.
