Keira Slams Anorexia Rumors

Keira Knightley: Click to WatchKeira Knightley tried to put rumors of an eating disorder to rest at a press conference for "Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest," but her revealing dress at the premiere the night before may suggest otherwise.

The stunning star says allegations of an eating disorder are outrageous. "It was really weird, they (the press) said that to me yesterday, they went 'how does it feel to be called anorexic?' I had no idea that I was, I can safely say that I am not."

Her statement came just a day after showing up to the London premiere of the new "Pirates" film looking skeletal in a gold Gucci dress slashed to the waist. On the red carpet she said, "I'm still thinking it was really inappropriate to wear this dress but its so hot I'm really glad I did."

Hot or not, rumors of anorexia plague many starlets, something Knightley understands comes with the territory. "It is understandable why you would associate that with high-achieving people in the film industry as well and I am not saying that there aren't people that suffer from it, because I am sure that there are, but I'm not one of them."

Keira returns as Elizabeth Swann in "Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest," which opens in US theaters this Friday.

16. Not only is she displeasing to look at in the photo. She is also barely dressed. Put some clothes on girl !!! That is disugusting what you have on. No Bra, probably no panties. That is disgusting. She nees to take a Learn to Dress 101 course. Celebrities are "SUPPOSED" to be role models for others. LAtely I haven't seen ANY role models anywhere, in any occupation, and that includes the modeling and fashion industry..

As for all the other under dressed and under weight female stars out there like Nicole Ritchie, The Olsen Twins, Britany and her sister, Tara REid, PAris Hilton and many others too many to list here. LEARN HOW TO DRESS.. STOP looking trashy. Start wearing proper undergarments, (bras and panties) they are made for a reason.

Celebrities, ALL Celebrities no matter if male or female should dress accordingly to your various events you have throughout the year. Proper Attire includes, having ALL parts of your body covered. Lady's this includes your Breasts and Butt and Groin areas. Guys this includes you your Butt and Groin areas. Ladies it also means wearing a top that covers your bra straps, breasts and any other questionable body. It has been stated repeatedly in both print and on television by many fashion critics that this is a big No No. Yet you still insist on doing it.. Asking WHY, as it is not sexy .

Celebrities may also want to start actually reading the advice fashion critics are printing and pay attention to it No one really wants to see your breasts ( for exampleJanet Jackson at the 2004 SuperBowl half time show) or butt, or any other part of your body that should not be seen in public in a magazine or any other publication.

17. The dress would not look as bad if she were wearing it correctly. I believe the front drapes should be pulled snug, forming a slightly crossed V, and then the extra fabric would drape around the shoulders like the back of a narrow shawl, covering the back of her neck to mid-shoulder blade. Not drooping below the belt in front.

18. yes she's thin, give her a break. there are several things that should be taken into consideration before you go calling someone anorexic, like how hectic their lifestyle is, genetics, and yes there is a disorder where no matter how much you eat you dont gain weight and there are special weight gain shakes and supplements for that. none of us can say if she's anorexic or not because we dont know her, we're not in her life at all so quit jumping to conclusions. im not saying she is, im not saying she isn't im saying go find someting better to do than call people you dont even know anorexics and bad role models just because they're thin. oh and anorexias isn't a word....it's anorexics.

19. I suppose you're also a republican and voted for Bush. 70 years old as well.

20. Um, just because a person's collar bones are showing does not make them anorexic. My collar bones protrude no matter how much I weight.

21. I don't care if she is anorexic or not, that look is terrible! They say that the camera adds 10 lbs to your look. Well baby, you need about five cameras. Can you imagine what a person who looks skeletal on the screen must really be like in person if the camera does add pounds???? If she doesn't watch out, so dog is going to grab her and bury her in the yard!

22. One of the prior comments revealed a basic assumption that is totally incorrect: Celebrities are NOT supposed to be role models for anyone. Period. End of story. Stop thinking of them that way. (I'm just planting seeds here with the hope that they take root)

23. Even if celebrities aren't "supposed" to be role models, thousands of girls and women look up to them. THAT IS A FACT. They are constantly in the public eye and lauded for there style, and looks. How many Paris look-alikes are out there running around?? Get the point?!?
To walk around saying that you are skeletal by nature is not helping anyone, and is hurting millions!!!!

24. Oh, I'm sorry. I didn't realize that all of the people who posted on this sight were professionals with advanced degrees in psychoanalysis AND knew everyone in hollywood personally. Honestly people. Where do you get off making statements about someone else's mental state who you know nothing about? While it is possible she's got an eating disorder, chances are she's not reading this list to get advice from you people about it. She a successful beautiful actress and if she does have a problem I'm sure she'll easily get help from someone who knows what they're talking about.

25. Thin people have feelings too. In my family it was not ALLOWED to make remarks about my very much overweight sister, and a few others, and the rest of us have ALWAYS been tiny and thin. I weighed 94 to 97 pounds until I hit 50, now I'm a whopping 108. My son is slim like I am. Everyone watches what you eat, you feel so self conscious, I ate until it made me SICK to have people stop making comments I was desperate. People are NOT kind when you are slim and can't gain any weight, and we have feelings too! Yes to MANY it's natural and she has SUCH a pretty face.

26. I think that keira looks beautiful . That Gucci dress is amazing. It does wonders for her. All you others are only jealous because she can make it work. Leave her be. And ok, say she does have an eating disorder, what is it any of your concern ?

27. Ahhhh you gotta love skinny women! Nips on ribs! She looks like the pirates when the moon shines on them, skin and bones.

28. The dress looks awful on her. It was not meant to be worn by someone with her body type. I don't even know who this woman is, but if she has always been thin, then she is NOT anorexic. If she was a regular sized person and now she is very thin, then that is something else. As many have pointed out, some people are just naturally thin no matter how much they eat. Does anyone really believe that Audrey Hepburn could have ever weighed 300 pounds? That Don Knotts could ever be obese? Some gain, some don't.

29. Beattie!
Thank you for posting. Your story is exactly like mine. I grew up stuffing myself trying to gain weight. As an adult, all I have to show for it is a messed up digestive system. People don't realize how difficult it is to be underweight. I grew up getting called "skinny",and nowadays thin kids automatically get labeled "anorexic". It is even worse now because so many people are overweight that the thin ones really stand out. At least in the USA. I find it easier to fit in when I am traveling in Europe. Americans seem to be so cynical and full of hate toward everything and everyone these days. Why is that?

30. Dave, I don't agree with you about people not wanting to see the body parts of stars. You are being very naive. If this were true, there wouldn't be so many pictures of them printed when they are wearing skimpy outfits. Though I do agree it is NOT sexy to look at woman who are so skinny that they don't have body parts to speak of. Healthy looking bodies like Jennifer Lopez, Haley Berry, these are the bodies worth looking at. I think Keira has a phenomonally beautiful face and it's a shame that she thinks she needs to be this skinny to look good.

I am a long time recovering anorexic and from experience I can tell you that it is not a choice, it is an illness. These stars becoming so skinny is from the pressure that is put on them by society and Hollywood. They are constantly told they need to loose weight, gain weight, etc.. What ever it takes to make the role more believible. We all know that this messes with the metabolism and causes many health issues. I wish stars would get the message that the public likes to see them with healthy attractive bodies!
