Keira Slams Anorexia Rumors

Keira Knightley: Click to WatchKeira Knightley tried to put rumors of an eating disorder to rest at a press conference for "Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest," but her revealing dress at the premiere the night before may suggest otherwise.

The stunning star says allegations of an eating disorder are outrageous. "It was really weird, they (the press) said that to me yesterday, they went 'how does it feel to be called anorexic?' I had no idea that I was, I can safely say that I am not."

Her statement came just a day after showing up to the London premiere of the new "Pirates" film looking skeletal in a gold Gucci dress slashed to the waist. On the red carpet she said, "I'm still thinking it was really inappropriate to wear this dress but its so hot I'm really glad I did."

Hot or not, rumors of anorexia plague many starlets, something Knightley understands comes with the territory. "It is understandable why you would associate that with high-achieving people in the film industry as well and I am not saying that there aren't people that suffer from it, because I am sure that there are, but I'm not one of them."

Keira returns as Elizabeth Swann in "Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest," which opens in US theaters this Friday.

46. She does not look like she has a eating disorder come on people do your research. FYI it is possible to look like that when you are thin and heatlhy and not wearing the proper attire. She is a small woman eats healthy takes good care of herself quit being jealous and move on. Don't you all have better things to do with your lives than sit and wonder who is doing what? And why on earth would it affect you personally? And why would you care?

47. Anorexic or not, she looks rather malnourished and her choice of dress only accentuates that fact. Like Nicole Richie, it'd do her body as well as her image some good if she were to put on some weight. I know it's just as difficult to put on weight for some as it is to lose weight for others, but it can be done. She can't continue to take the Lara Flynn Boyle excuse and just say that she has a fast metabolism and is naturally that skinny, because while that may be true, with some medical intervention, she CAN put on more weight (extended meal-periods as opposed to mini-meals throughout the day, estrogen, muscle, good fat, etc.)

Ms. Knightley may not think she is responsible for what her young and impressionable fans think, but girls will see her and hear of others calling her beautiful and gorgeous and sexy...they'll think that's the way to look and will ruin their lives just trying to be like her. It's sad that she's some sort of example through no choice of her own, but that's one of the down-sides to being a movie star.

48. I happen to really like Keira. I think she's a REALLY talented actress and should keep her job! She's very pretty (but that doesn't have anything to do with how talented she is of course). I believe her word that she isn't anorexic. Some people can be skinny without being anorexic you know. It's called genetics.

49. Oh and fast metabolism is mostly for fat people. There was an article in a magazine about that myth. Fast metabolism is what gets you moving and stuff, most overweight people have it instead of skinny people. So when people say they're skinny due to fast metabolism, they don't know what they're saying because it's not true.

50. yeah her body looks like it could use some more meat, but to say she is anorexic, u never know...but i like the way she handled this question.

51. Keira has always been thin. I never saw her in a dress like that which was quite revealing. She is beautiful and everyone has different forms. Anyhow, she could have had that frame forever because most the dresses she wore were full and frilly. I am also genetically very thin and have been questioned if I am suffering from an eating disorder, which I do not at all. I am 5'5 and 118 lbs. and that is thin to some but I have no control. I eat three meals and snacks in between. And as far as celebrities being "role models" that's bull crap, all they have to do is their job and live their life how they want. All you who are whining about how people should dress, eat, etc. get a real life!!!! Celebrities are entertainers not robots - stop trying to control them. They need not cater to no one. If anyone out there follows celebrities or so-and-so, you are the idiot. Monkey see, monkey do. Grow up and stop projecting your problems on others.

52. I don't think she has an eating disorder. She's always been really thin even back in Bend it like Beckham which she filmed before she was a celebrity. Some women are just naturally really skinny.

53. I am truly beautiful, inside and outside. I just need a real, genuine guy to care for me unconditionally ~ respect the public side of my life, keep the personal personal and make me breakfast on Sundays.

Once I'm happy it will all come together, just wait and see. In the meantime let me retain some dignity! Ok? ;)

Love Keira K

55. Ok, enough is enough... why is it that we are so quick to slam someone who is too thin and at the same time stuff a donut in our fat, obese mouths. If we aren't over weight then there must be a problem?! Why is that? I am 5'8 115 lbs and eat like a horse, have always been that way and probably always will be. I have even gone as far as to buy weight gaining products that didn't work either! All because there are people out there, like you, who want to judge and assume that because someone is skinny, they must have some sort of an eating disorder. That is just as unfair as me assuming that everyone over weight sits on their rear and eats all day. When realistically there are millions of women out there who work out, eat healthy and still cannot manage to shed the pounds. What you cannot seem to understand with all your judging and criticism, is that you contribute to the growing problem of women with eating disorders. How can any women feel attractive, sexy or comfortable with their bodies with so much negative feedback from others who should spend more time working through their own insecurities and maybe this trend will eventually fade off. Take care of eachother, support eachother and quit being jealous and catty!

56. Poor thing looks like the poster child for Auschwitz. Perhaps she, like so many other celebrities, is afflicted with body dysmorphic disorder, which sure seems to affect a crapload of women in the entertainment industry.

57. I think that she's not only anorexic but stupid -- did you hear the interview?

She claims that anorexia runs in her family but that she doesn't have it. What she should have said is "my mother and grandmother were also naturally thin and constantly accused of anorexia." She's clearly not genetically thin or other female members of her family wouldn't have had to resort to anorexia!

58. For all you people saying that she's not naturally skinny...uh....yes she is. Just look at pictures of her from the past. Granted she does look skinnier than usual but she has always been unbelievably thin. Not everyone who is really skinny suffers from an eating disorder.

59. I think this whole super skinny look is horrible! It's just a publicity stunt!! I mean they look super thin now (they get in papers), then they get fat (they get in papers), then they all suddenly get pregnant (they get in papers) it's just crazy. Whatever happened to being known for your talent and not your personel life (or lack there of). I'd like to see the marilyn monroe look come back in. Did you know she was at least a size 12? She was a sex symbol back then and still is now. Those people are real people. I really don't care about seeing people's bones, if you have money use it. It's not like they can't afford clothing or food. They're just trying to keep in the spotlight until another fad comes along. I've been anorexic and I hated myself more then, then ever. But because of these stupid stupid fads we are just asking for these things to happen to our generation or worse carry onto the next generation. So what's next Hollywood? Sadly, we're all paying attention.

60. Gross!!! She was bad before but now she is all boney. What is with these actresses looking malnutrioned (Lohan). When Knightley and Lohan had meat on their bones they was sexy to me at least.
