EXCLUSIVE: Nine Inch Nails -- Nailed

Nine Inch Nails has been sued for allegedly injuring a man "intentionally, violently and without just cause."

In a lawsuit obtained by TMZ, Mark LaVoie claims he was working security at a Nine Inch Nails concert last October at the Alliant Energy Center in Madison, Wisconsin, when he "was struck in the head by a cast iron microphone stand which had been intentionally thrown into the audience by the lead guitarist of Nine Inch Nails, Aaron North."

LaVoie claims he was "knocked unconscious, fell to the floor, and was bleeding from a large laceration on the top of his head."

Lavoie, who is also suing Aaron North, claims he suffered "serious pain and permanent injury."

As an example of previous "outrageous acts of violence while performing with Nine Inch Nails," Lavoie's lawsuit points to an incident in 2002 when North smashed a glass case -- that contained a guitar previously played by Stevie Ray Vaughn -- with a microphone stand and removed the guitar from the wall. See video of the incident HERE.

Lavoie is seeking unspecified compensatory damages, as well as punitive damages.

31. I was at that show, right on the right side and saw the whole thing. Aaron did intentionally throw the microphone stand toward the security gaurds and nail LaVoie right in the head! I was awestruck and very dissappointed in NIN for that act. I love Trent, but that Aaron is a down right asshole and I hope he has to payout a lot of money to LaVoie.

32. I was at that show and yes, Aaron intentionally threw that microphone stand into the group of security gaurds. I was standing in the front row on the right side of the stage and saw EVERYTHING. Two security gaurds dragged Lavoie right passed me and he was clearly unconscious. I was awestruck and extremely dissappointed in NIN. I hope Aaron gets a nice hefty lawsuit for this immature act.

33. Oh really? How the hell did you know it was intentional? Did you ever consider that he was into the music as he always is?

That sh*thead shouldn't have taken the god*mn job if he's going to be such a p*ssy about all this. Even if he had extremely serious injuries, its still not Aarons fault. It was a god*mn accident.

I love Aaron.

34. I was at this show and this incident happened just a few feet in front of me. Unfortunately, while Aaron wasn't aiming specifically for this security guard, he was acting wrecklessly. Yes, I understand that is part of the show, but regardless, this man was still injured through no fault of his own. If you were injured on your job, you would expect compensation for the losses you've endured, and this is no different. Just because Aaron didn't mean to cause harm excuses him from ultimately doing it.
