"House Hunters" Gets Star (Jones) Treatment

Star Jones didn't waste any time in her post-"View" career covering tales of the absurd and grotesque -- namely, trying to buy real estate in New York City.

Jones' first (and heretofore only) TV gig since she says she was very publicly fired from her ABC seat is as a fill-in host on Home and Garden Television's "House Hunters." The show typically follows the travails of a relatively modestly-budgeted real estate customer trying to decide between three alternatives, most of which tend to be nicer than anything your local estate agent has listed.

For this week's episodes, Star introduces the show's segments while strolling down a brownstone- and tree-lined street in Manhattan, spouting the usual cliches about New York (It never sleeps! Lots of people live here! Real estate is real expensive!) of which people from outlying states just can't seem to get enough. But we never actually get to see her interact with the little people.

Wearing a snug flowered dress and gamely smiling through her script, Star tells us that getting an apartment anywhere in New York City for $230,000, as the couple on Tuesday night's show do, is a bargain. And when she tells us that New York real estate is either "expensive," or "unbelievably expensive," she knows of what she speaks: Star put her and husband Al Reynolds' Upper East Side penthouse apartment on the market at the end of May for a not-very-bargain $2.25 million.

31. its too bad the smaller star jones got the bigger her head grew...no really!!
her head is literaly enourmous!! she transformed to bridezilla right before
our eyes on the view., thats when she started to turn people off.
maybe she should sit down with her hubby al & watch some reruns of the view and see how sickening she truly was...hopefully she takes a new path and transforms herself into being likable again...

32. vis-a-vis comment number 10 and i quote "when god closes a door, he opens a window." yeah, let's hope it's a window on the 10th floor so the world's most convincing female impersonator can jump out it!

33. I think she is doing a fine job! I like her much better than Suzanne Wang or whatever her name is..... I like that she is walking along the streets of New Your and explaining different areas of New York. I have never been to New York and it seems like all the apartments are WAY over priced and so small for the money these people are spending. These places are so small and there is barely any storage and the bathrooms are the size of my walk - in closet. Now I understand why the have other homes in the Hamptions! I would too if I had to live in such a small place spending close to 400,000!

34. Wow, some of you have some really nasty things to say about this woman. I wonder how many of you aren't just basing your opinions on what other people have already said. Much of what's being said about this woman seems a re-hash of everything else I have ever heard about her. You call this woman big-headed and unlikeable but some of you seem to be pretty full of yourselves.

36. That show has badly overestimated that cow's appeal. I will never watch it again, but I rarely have watched it in the past.

37. YEAH FOR STAR JONE! AT least her new gig is a start. I have no worries that Star will pick herself up and move on to better things ( according to her life goals ).

The View and Barbara were wrong on the way they handle things. They can't take the truth. At least Star took responsiblity for her so called past actions. What about Barabar- WITCH! I used to respect that Woman but not so much anymore.

Keep our head up Star - I believe in you and you look GREAT TOO!

Haters give her more popularity....keeps her in the news.... keept it coming guys.

38. I can't stand watching this bug-eyed freak another minute! Who thought it was a good idea for her to host this show?? We all need to rally to make sure this is her last week to EVER be on television.

39. Star Jones Reynolds is a class act in many ways not the least of which is the dignity with which she conducted herself after being fired from The View, a show I have always enjoyed and will continue to watch. Star may have turned a few people off ; and it was ABC's right to can her, but Star has a lot going for her and legions of fans who want to see her do well in spite of the adversity she's suffered. She may have gone overboard planning and executing her wedding which turned many people off and cost her her job, but she's fabulous, smart and I wouldn't count her out--not by a long shot.

43. Ugh! I love watching House Hunters, but won't watch if Star is hosting. She is so obnoxious. Please, someone, make her go back to Court TV where she'll annoy the fewest possible viewers.

44. When the view first came on, i love the show including Star Jones. I thought she was a positive, smart black woman, and a very good role model for young black women everywhere. Now with all the changes she has gone through, she is just like everyone else in hollywood, a diva.

Her husband is nothing to write home about. He is gay or bi-sexual, whatever. Star Jones lost all that weight in hopes of getting and keeping him. Doesn't like a smart woman at all?

No one is jealous of her. I feel sorry that she has lost touch with the person she use to be. We need more women like she was out here..............

45. Star Jones is like anyother human being, if an opportunity comes anyone would have taken it, Barbara Walters has always been a good person, but it all goes back to life on a whole, America will always be a racist country towards immigrants, once you stand out, they will shut you down, they make you and then break you, at least they gave her an opportunity to leave with her head up, and she will get back to that stance one day, Star Jones needs to just stay humble, riches come from the heart, and class is within, you cannot buy class, that is the problem with people that have money, they think that they can buy everything, you could be the poorest person and have class. Also to the gay people that are always trying to link black people to the evil deeds that they are doing, let me say one thing, how the hell would anyone know that you are gay, if you don't tell them.
