"House Hunters" Gets Star (Jones) Treatment

Star Jones didn't waste any time in her post-"View" career covering tales of the absurd and grotesque -- namely, trying to buy real estate in New York City.

Jones' first (and heretofore only) TV gig since she says she was very publicly fired from her ABC seat is as a fill-in host on Home and Garden Television's "House Hunters." The show typically follows the travails of a relatively modestly-budgeted real estate customer trying to decide between three alternatives, most of which tend to be nicer than anything your local estate agent has listed.

For this week's episodes, Star introduces the show's segments while strolling down a brownstone- and tree-lined street in Manhattan, spouting the usual cliches about New York (It never sleeps! Lots of people live here! Real estate is real expensive!) of which people from outlying states just can't seem to get enough. But we never actually get to see her interact with the little people.

Wearing a snug flowered dress and gamely smiling through her script, Star tells us that getting an apartment anywhere in New York City for $230,000, as the couple on Tuesday night's show do, is a bargain. And when she tells us that New York real estate is either "expensive," or "unbelievably expensive," she knows of what she speaks: Star put her and husband Al Reynolds' Upper East Side penthouse apartment on the market at the end of May for a not-very-bargain $2.25 million.

46. You all are pathetic! If you don’t like her why in the world are you hunting her TV appearance, reading an article written about her and commenting on it?

You all make me sick! 'am not even a fan of Star.

47. I have a great deal of respect for Star Jones and think she has been villafied by the media in many ways over the years. The was ABC treated her was unreal ... everyone spouts about 'tell the truth' and 'can't stand those hollywood types because they always lie or are so unreal' ... so she tells the truth instead of lying and people think that's wrong! Oh pleeze!

I've enjoyed her on House Hunters; I've never really watched the how before and tuned in just because she was hosting it. I hope she continues and people stop being so negative.

You want to see something really fake ... just watch the first few minutes of the View now ... they are trying so hard that it makes me sick! After watching that show since the beginning I have no respect for it, am no longer a viewer and hope it just goes away. So much for 'professionalism' as far as ABC and BW is concerned.

Congrats to Star for standing up for herself and being a professional!

48. People, people why are you all hating on Star, is it because she's black, smart and rich or just plain jealous and by the way jealous don't have any age. We all have made mistakes and God forgives everyone who ask him, why you think Star doesn't deserve a second chance at TV.

49. Star Jones let her emotions overtake her intelligence, unfortunately all contracts are not renewed. Star could have handled the situration with that and leaving the view in a more professional manner. Having a law degree you would think that she would have thought this one out more intelligently. Hopefully she will learn from this as she moves forward. BRIDGES ARE NOT MEANT TO BE BURNT. I just hope she takes this as a learning experience and grows from it.

50. I just feel sorry for the woman. She probably thought she arrived to have everything down the pipes, probably as a result of too much ego gone wild.

51. I like Star Jones. They cannot blame Star for the show going down hill. Barbara and Joy are no winners. The show as a whole is going down hill and bringing Rosie is not going to help only make it go down faster. It will turn into the Rosie show so fast. Start saying bye to Barbara, Joy and Liz right now. I feel sorry for who ever they get to be in Star's place because the show will be gone soon. You're all FIRED!

52.
When Oprah lost allot of her weight it was hard at first to get use to how she looked also.

I haven't watched the View for awhile but she was my favorite host on the View when I did watch it.

I am more than not likely going to watch the View at all anymore. I don't thnk they handled the situation with Star very well.

And as for Rosie that is a complete turn off. I am so sick and tired of celeberties cramming their views down our throats.

53. I am glad that Star Jones got a new gig. Good for her. She was good for the View and quite frankly I did not always like her, but I do miss her.

54. ok, I really don't hate Star, I find her extrmely annoying. I also really used to like her on the view, then the marriage, weight loss... yada, yada, yada. She changed, so people changed her opinion of her. I like many people lost respect for her. House Hunters was missing something for me when she hosted. I think it is her voice, also it just had a stuck up feel to it. I hear she won't be doing it again, thank goodness. So I won't have to stop watching one of my fav shows. Can't wait for Suzanne Wang to be back!

55. Star was the most educated professional on the VIEW. This was evident by the way others rant and rave on the program about various topics and Star always came up with facts and figures from actual research. Star has proven even when she was being ousted without advance knowledge just how professional she she could be.

If Barbara thinks getting that overbearing Lizzy, on the View will increase the shows rating, she is very badly out of touch with reality. I didn't watch the View every day. However now that Rosie will be a co-host, I don't plan to watch the View ever again.
