Celebrity Feuds
Coldplay Takes Aim

Chris Martin: Click to watchAt a press conference in Hong Kong, the band's frontman made both a jab at Vice President Dick Cheney and fueled speculation that Coldplay may go the route of Weezer and disband.

When talking about why they don't get into fights with other bands, Chris Martin spoke out against the second in command, "You know, if you don't like [the music], just listen to something else. We'd much rather have a fight with Dick Cheney, you know - people who really do things that we consider to be bad." The comment brought laughs from the crowd and prompted the moderator to add, "Did everybody hear that?"

Martin seemed to dominate the presser and admitted it could be a while until the world gets new music from the band. "We won't do another album until we think we've written the best songs in history, and that could take a while. So we could be waiting, 20 years or 50 years. Who knows? Our next record seems like a long way away."

1. Well, since Chris Martin is BRITISH, not AMERICAN, he doesn't really need to be patriotic for America, but he should atleast keep his thoughts to himself. He needs to just sing, not be another Dixie Chick.

3. Any Coldplay fans out there should take a look at www.one.org for information on the Make Poverty History campaign. With the upcoming G8 summit in the news, now is a good time for people who believe in the eradication of debt, increased trade & increased aid for the world's poorest citizens to ensure their voices are heard. And by the way Holly - Chris Martin, along with every other person on the planet, should have the right to express his beliefs when asked. If you don't want to listen, then don't. If you don't like the music of the Dixie Chicks or Coldplay, because of their legitimate political beliefs, then don't buy it. Part of being an American (or in my case, Canadian) is believing in the right of every person to express themselves freely.

5. I don't listen, ALI, I read. And I just read a political view that I don't agree with. So now, I am being an AMERICAN and expressing myself FREELY.

6. AWW LOOK AT ALL THESE ABORTED FETUSES! YOU GUYS NEED TO DIE ALREADY. IF YOU ARE ALLOWED TO STATE YOUR STUPID OPINIONS THEN CHRIS MARTIN CAN SAY WHATEVER THE HELL HE WANTS. AT LEAST HE USES HIS WORDS IN A SMART WAY UNLIKE YOU UNEDUCATED MONKEYS WHO JUDGE EVERYONE OUT OF JEALOUSY. SILLY LIL KIDS. GO GET A LIFE FOR YOUR OWN SAKES!

7. Okay then Holly, let's be consistent, shall we? You wrote that Chris Martin "should keep his thoughts to himself" because you don't agree with his political views. And since I don't agree with what you wrote, how about I tell you to do the same. See how that works? It's not so fun when the shoe is on the other foot...

11. Martin seems to suffer from a case of thinking that we are all waiting on the edge of our seats for the next Coldplay album. They aren't the worst band in history, but if they never make another song again... well, I won't be crying in the corner over it.

12. It's more like this - celebrities are given a forum to express views, but are typically some of the least qualified to offer legitimate view of the situation because their perspective is skewed.

It's easy to criticize the administration but few critics actually have the skills or desire to suggest a viable alternative.

When you have as much wealth as Coldplay and obtain it by singing for fans, you're not really 'working' anymore or in touch with how economys affect a typical person.

13. JILL- fox news is the most slanted right-wing excuse for a news show ever created. It makes me laugh. If you want real, unbiased views try reading a freakin' newspaper.

I don't particularly like Coldplay, but I think it's good that they speak out against a corrupt administration...even if they are brits.

14. I would certainly think we would NEVER hear from Coldplay again if Chris Martin thinks they can't release a new record until they have "written the best songs in history." Does he really mean to say that the bands former albums top the works of the Beatles, The Who and other industry legends. If so, he truly is a wanker or is on drugs in the recording studio.

15. I didn't ask any questions JD. Thanks for your concern, though.
