Bloom and Bosworth Dine, Leave Dog in Car

Orlando and Kate to be hitched?Orlando Bloom had a great weekend, with his "Pirates of the Caribbean" movie making another 62 million at the box office, but that doesn't mean his dog can come into the restaurant.

Bloom and Kate Bosworth were spotted going out for a late afternoon lunch (they had scallops) and - just like the rest of us - Orlando had to leave his beautiful black dog in the car.

We all know how dangerous a hot car can be for an animal- the risk of death is quite real. But Orlando took care of his best friend, making sure the window was cracked and getting up twice during the meal, possibly to go check on the pooch.

When he and Kate came out of the restaurant, the car had been moved to a shady spot. It is unclear if Orlando requested this or if the valet took the initiative. Either way, Orlando gave the guy what looks like a substantial tip.

And Orlando's right - it's worth a few bucks to ensure your pet's safety.

92. If my dog had an anxiety disorder and it would not be appropriate to take him with me nor safe to leave him at home by himself, then I would hire a sitter. It is "worth a few bucks" to pay the dog sitter and not get all of this grief about how he chooses to parent his pooch. No?

94. This for all the people that responded that it is ok for an animal to be left in a car on a hot day. I would like to say, you're idiots. Let's see you sit in a car, with the windows cracked, of course, for just 5 minutes and see if you still feel the same way. Also animals, not just dogs DO HAVE separation attacks. I suppose you think they also dont feel because it is JUST a dog. It should be everybody's business when an animal is left in an oven (car), same thing when in the heat.
The dog should have been left at home, with a sitter if necessary, they can afford it. This way the dog is happy, safe and will see you again.

95. this proves that people in hollywood are just as dumb as the rest of society. it makes me so mad when people think that checking on their pet a few times (perhaps to make sure it is still alive??) and leaving the window CRACKED is being a good pet owner. the dog would have been better off tied up to a lamppost outside the restaurant with a bowl of water (perhaps pay the valet to watch the dog?? we know they have enough money), and even better off at home where it belonged.

96. Apparenlty those of you idiots who thinks this is acceptable are not animal lovers. My stance is that ALL HUMANS ARE SH*T!

99. It is our business Mili! Would you feel that way and continue walking if it was a baby in a car seat in the car? Animals are living and breathing creatures. Where's your heart and feelings.
PEOPLE leave your animals HOME!!!!!

100. OMG... I Luv all of you with opinions who can't even spell correctly! Didn't you even graduate or go to High School, pretty sad state? Yet you feel entitled to judge others and use words you can't spell- quite funny.
As far as these two idiots, I live just outside LA, and as far as the heat- it was almost 120 outside the vehicle- so the was NO EXCUSE for making an innocent animal suffer needlessly for any length of time within a vehicle even if all the windows were half down in the shade-- it would still be too hot. If the air was not running the dog should not have been left in there. Animal control should have been called to save that poor dog. Those selfish idiots could have taken him home first, or gotten their food to go.
No reason to make their dog suffer, you don't see everyone else doing that, do you?

101. Unbelievable! I had a friend who left his large black dog in his car for a couple of hours in a summer heat wave, with "the window cracked" and when I went out to his car with him (not knowing he had brought the dog with him and left it in the car) the poor dog was dead of a heat stroke, in what must have been an agonizing death. The guy was just torn up - but really, what a moron. Just like Orlando Bloom. Someone should leave him locked up in a car with the window cracked during a heat wave.

102. To Mili who commented . I think you were punched in the head too many times or perhaps abusive yourself! To the people leaving the dog in the car. The dog is miserable. I know, I'm here in Palm Desert. I think you only have 3 minutes before suffocating. STUCK ON STUPID !!!!! J. Gail

103. maybe Orlando isn't used to very hot weather. But the best strategy in hot weather is to leave the animal at home. If you're worried about him tearing up the house, get a large pen to place him in when your're gone. He will get used to the pen and even grow to love it.

104. It doesn't matter that he checked on the dog. It is very hot in California and the state has very strict animal cruelty laws. He was lucky the dog didn't die.

105. I was saddened to hear of the neglectful actions of Mr. Bloom. Pets depend on us to keep them safe. Just 5 minutes in a car even with the windows cracked or all the way down, can reach exteme temps. I know that his actions on that day will forever change the way I think of him. I hope that these comments reach him, and that hopefully it will cause him to change his behaviour when it comes to his pets. Shame on you Mr. Bloom. And don't forget, Ms. Bosworth is as guilty as he. If it were a friend of mine I would have no problem letting them know, Hey this is a bad idea.
