Bloom and Bosworth Dine, Leave Dog in Car

Orlando and Kate to be hitched?Orlando Bloom had a great weekend, with his "Pirates of the Caribbean" movie making another 62 million at the box office, but that doesn't mean his dog can come into the restaurant.

Bloom and Kate Bosworth were spotted going out for a late afternoon lunch (they had scallops) and - just like the rest of us - Orlando had to leave his beautiful black dog in the car.

We all know how dangerous a hot car can be for an animal- the risk of death is quite real. But Orlando took care of his best friend, making sure the window was cracked and getting up twice during the meal, possibly to go check on the pooch.

When he and Kate came out of the restaurant, the car had been moved to a shady spot. It is unclear if Orlando requested this or if the valet took the initiative. Either way, Orlando gave the guy what looks like a substantial tip.

And Orlando's right - it's worth a few bucks to ensure your pet's safety.

106. Elizabeth, the comment about people being jealous of Kate because of the negative remarks they're making about the way she looks is way off base. She's not the only skeletal female celeb that people comment on. Bottom line, she needs to eat -- A LOT. Frankly, she looks like a walking straw from a haystack. There's nothing beautiful about that. That's not jealousy; that's just pure honesty -- brutal, but honesty all the same. And her being a model has nothing to do with her being too thin. There are a lot of models out there that are thin, but in a healthy way. Not to mention, she's an actress before she's a model. And she's more of a spokesperson than model per se. She, like all the rest of the girls like her, look sick. They always look like they're one less meal away from having to be admitted into the hospital. Pure and simple. I've heard a lot guys comment specifically about Kate and they feel the exact same way. Therefore, get off the jealousy thing because jealousy's got nothing to do with it.

As for Orlando, I agree, he's a sweetheart and he loves his dog. However, whether or not he was wrong for leaving the dog in the car can't be determined. None of us were actually there, so we don't know the whole situation. It's crazy that alot of people are making snap judgments about him and they don't know him nor were they even there. From what I saw in the video, the dog was not even panting which is a tell-tale sign of heat exhaustion for dogs. So unless you are Orlando or Kate or the darn valet attendant, stop with the name calling because you were not there. It was not a baby he left in the car, it was a dog. Animals, by nature, are more capable of adapting to the environment. He rescued the dog from Morocco for crying out loud where the heat is a lot worse than it is in L.A. I'm not saying that leaving any living creature in a car in the heat is a wise thing. If that is, indeed, what happened, then truly that was a big mistake. One I hope Orlando doesn't repeat. What I am saying, however, is until we know all the facts, it's just pure speculation. Guesswork. In other words -- bologna.

107. Is this article for real? No dog should be left in a car on a hot summer day. I do not take my dogs anywhere in the car in the summer. We've all read the articles that say that the temperature in a car can reach 120 degrees in just a few minutes, even with the windows cracked. Can these two not read? I feel so bad for that poor dog.

109. As much as I once lusted after the man, this is a big turn-off. NEVER leave an animal or child in an unattended vehicle. Windows down? In the shade? Not enough! A big tip before the meal and I'll bet a valet might have been convinced to hold the leash for an hour. Money can't buy common sense or compassion.

If you see an animal locked in a car, call the police. I've dialed 911 several times for this, with varying results. A couple of times the cops went into the building and made an announcement and gave the owners either a verbal or written warning. Once, when the owner couldn't be located, a deputy took a "slim jim" to the car and let the dog out until the owner came out and then wrote a ticket for animal cruelty. On one other occasion, the officer called animal control after forcing the door and left a note for the owner to pick up their dogs at the pound, after paying a fine for each.

Speak up people, it feels good to do the right thing - you'll get over any embarrassment quicker than you will the guilt for not doing anything.

111. I think the public should stop paying so much damn attention to actors. They are all human beings- some are extremely bright and talented- others serve as excellent ambassadors for our country and provide millions for charity. Regardless of whether or not they star in ridiculous re-make movies while bombing a pop-star career, or they have committed to the completion of exquisite films- they have their own lives at a home somewhere- believe it or not. It is NOT up to us to mock, judge, or spy on them. We choose to abandon reality and immerse ourselves in their wonderful artform- we already expose every ounce of expression they may show in the theatres- why strip them of their dignity and personal freedom? I am an actor, and believe it or not- there exists a REAL LIFE outside of the prop room and behind the camera operator. Granted, some "stars" like Paris Hilton and all those other awful, disreputable, and overall disgusting role models strive to gain public attention by acting juvenile and shallow. However, the true actor- the one that enjoys the art itself and simply wants to revel in a life of happiness, despises the critical eye of the masses. We want to share a gift that we have- must we share every facet of our lives as well? We ALL have flaws in our character and past acts that may blacken our name...SO WHAT!!! It is human to be this way....and seeing how you've all picked apart the flaws and mishaps of actors- that SHOULD PROVE that they ARE human too. Let's all grab a hobby and life of our own, shall we? There should be a lawsuit protecting actors from this demeaning treatment. In fact, there will be someday soon if there isn't an action in place already...I will see to it.

112. Cracked window!!!! That wouldn't let in enough air to keep a mouse going. Because of the horrible heat we have had all summer, the only safe place for a dog is at home, indoors, with cool water and a fan. Having a way to get in and/or out to the yard is the ideal situation, but lacking that indoors is the best place. Those of you who say my dog would rather be where I am, I can only say since when does a child know what's best.
