Brad Pitt -- "I'm Kinda Sick of Myself"

Brad PittFor Brad Pitt, satisfaction is getting a burp out of "that thing" known as his baby daughter, Shiloh Nouvel.

That, amongst other things, is what Pitt told the Today Show's Ann Curry Monday morning in an exclusive interview from New Orleans, where Pitt was surveying the devastation of Hurricane Katrina and promoting environmentally-friendly solutions for the rebuilding of the ravaged city. Working in conjunction with the non-profit Global Green, Pitt said that he has invested $100,000 to help the citizens of New Orleans.

Pitt laid bare the impelling force behind his good works, telling Curry, "I got kids now. And it really changes your perspective on the world. And, you know, I've had my day...I'm so tired of thinking about myself. I'm kinda sick of myself."

And though much artistic work may lie ahead, Pitt says he's got a new project that's consuming him: "You can write a book, you can make a movie, you can draw, paint a painting, but having kids is really the most extraordinary thing I've ever taken on. And, man, if I can get a burp out of that, that little thing, I'll feel such a sense of accomplishment."

316. The venomous statements on this thread against a man who happens to be a celebrity and wants to express his profound happiness is shocking. Because he is a celebrity and is trying to do some good no matter how much..because he happy to be a father...is to be judged? By anyone here? What are any of you doing for the people of New Orleans. How much have you donated? Did it ever occur to you Brad Pitt did not write any articles or post pictures of himself the owners of all the publications who make money off of his photos did. Have you no sense of what it is like not to be envious?

319. So many haters!!! You guys are going to shorten your lives with so much negativity. What would any of you do with an abundance of wealth? Dish it out? Doubtful!!! Brad and Angelina are generous on MANY fronts. Besides, in America, if you are poor, disabled, jobless, homeless or on drugs, there is a program for you!!!!! There is plenty of help in the good old U.S.A if you are willing to get up, help yourself a bit, and get it!!! I admire and respect celebrities who put themselves out there and TRY to change the world for the better. Would you rather they stay in their mansions and keep all the money this countries screwed up priorities has given them?

322. Most of the negative comments are just stupid. You people need to your research.

1 - the $100,000 was to sponsor the competition
2 - aniston is quoted as saying that Pitt didn't cheat on her (but of course ince US Weekly printed it, it must be true)

If you are sick of him, then don't read the blurb on the site.

323. what about all the kids in america that need adopting. movie stars make way to much money and we help them by buying into the hype. who needs four homes in three different countries anyway. and it does more harm than good to a lot of their kids.

324. Maybe they should have had their baby in New Orleans instead of Africa. Surely they could have benefited from the money they spent there. I thought the saying was charity begins in the home.

325. I think that it's wonderful that Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie are giving money to people that really need it around the world. They can afford to do so and should do so, as it is a Mitzvah to give back to others. Yes, having kids is extrordinary however celebrities dont lead normal lives and therefore their kids are exposed to many things that most of us dont go through, being famous. Their outlook on life and expectations from others and themselves is drastically different as a result. Its a good thing that Brad realizes now at his age that he doesnt come first and luckily he realizes this so that he can stop basking in the spotlight and focus on what really matters, his family and not his career and endless supply of money. I think most celebrities should give back to others and focusing on others is healthy for the mind and spirit and makes one a better person in general

327. I think Brad is showing tremendous growth. Good for you, Brad! Also, he and Angelina are showing their children the gift of love, giving, and standing up for something outside of themselves. I applaud both of them. It's obvious they love their children, and are excellent role models. Please, don't pass judgement, you can't possibility know their hearts. Also, keeping track of what they give and where--as some posts have stated--is silly. The fact they're giving to many, many causes is wonderful. And traveling with their children is a marvelous education for them. How lucky they all are. Good luck to you Brad, Angelina, and your beautiful babies! Sending warm light your way.

328. Well, do we complain about the stars or should we complain about ourselves for putting them where they are today? I guess it is us to blame for where they are. And since I didn't donate $100,000 to the cause I guess I shouldn't complain about that either. Any donation should come from the heart and who knows really what prompts one to give anything anywhere. WE can only speculate. Easy for those of us in middle class or poor to judge others but the fact remains, we gave the stars their position in life. And for that the real blame fall on us.
