WWE Smackdown: Wrestling Stars vs. Ohio Police

rob van dam

Unfortunately for Rob Van Dam, Ohio state trooper J.N. Baker is not a wrestling fan.

Trooper Baker pulled over the WWE star on July 2 for going 72 in a 55-mile-per-hour zone. Unfortunately for Van Dam -- whose real name is Robert Alex Szatowski -- Baker and his partner also smelled pot in the car, and slapped the wrestler with a misdemeanor citation for possessing marijuana and vicodin. Terry Michael Brunk, who goes by the wrestling name Sabu, was in the passenger seat of the car and also was cited. Brunk, who was wearing a cap picturing a marijuana leaf, admitted on the police tape that he had smoked dope before getting into the car.

When Van Dam tried to explain to the officer that he was on his way to a gig, the officer admitted "I don't follow wrestling." Later, Baker looked inside the driver's window and asked, "You always drive with your shirt off?"

31. I think that it is good that RVD got caught, Mick Foley did say he was a high flyer. He has a big responsibility, as for Sabu you already can tell he's on drugs by the way he looks. I know that the WWE is stressing but they could've done that in private, instead of the car.

35. Trooper J.N. Baker??? That wouldn't happen to be John Baker, formerly of the California Highway Patrol, would it? I bet he gets tired of people asking him where Ponch is.

As far as the pot goes, I don't think it's a big deal......BUT, if ya got pot in the car you might want to keep it around 5MPH over the speed limit, not 17MPH. At that point he's just asking for trouble.

37. Coming from someone who has been a wrestling fan for 25+ years and have children who love the new "sports entertainment" era, I applaud the police for doing exactly what they were suppose to. If these "superstars" are going to live their lfe in the public image they need to be held accountable for their actions. You can't be a proper role model for kids if you are out there smoking pot and popping pills. Kids now adays have enough peer pressure to deal with from their everyday life, now we have to worry about this as well. I am very disappointed with this situation and hope that WWE and ECW will take a long hard look at the peolpe they have representing the company!!!

38. Correction. RVD and Sabu are not wrestlers for the WWE they are ECW wrestlers. Secondly, RVD is no longer the WWE champion thanks to Edge and no longer the ECW champion thanks to the Big Show. RVD and Sabu I hope you get it together. Best of luck to the both of you.

40. I'm sorry for the negative image portrayed by the Ohio State Troopers, however while I did admit smoking pot earlier in the day, I was NOT wearing any clothing celebrating the use of illegal drugs, in fact the hat I was wearing was a camoflague Toronto Blue Jays hat and on this particular hat the logo for the canadian maple leaf and a very small logo of a blue jay both appear green, which is why I am giving the Ohio State Police Trooper the benefit of doubt in what I can only percieve as a poorly lit situation being that it was roadside, and at night.

I would also like to state that my perscription for LORTAB which is a variation of VICODINis valid and was prescribed by a physician employed by the McMahons for a nagging pre-existing injury and I am well within my rights to travel with the medication. My only mistake is that they were not in the bottle from the pharmacy and instead were in a keychain capsule around my neck on a lanyard in which I keep my daily dose at the ready. The actual pharmacy bottle was in my possession at the time of the incident but the officer refused to let me show it to him claiming that he had no reason to believe me since I had admitted to him that the botte was empty and the last dose was in the aforementioned capsule.

I am by no means an angel but the media has aided in blowing this out of context, I would just like to hope that my fans don't loose any respect for me or for what I have worked for. The things I could tell you about the other guys in the industry, without legit injuries or perscriptions would make you hate the industry forever.

Sabu out! One Love!

41. Ok heres the thing. First off, Marijuana is legal in some states for medicinal purposes. Mind you I'm sure RVD's wasnt legal, however what the world needs to understand is that wrestlers especially RVD and Sabu put their bodies on the line constantly. And you know instead of turning to harder drugs to qwench the pain they both im sure are constantly in, they have nothing else that can see them through it. We all including the fuzz that pulled them over, dont have nearly as grueling of a "job". Mind you speeding and smoking while driving although fun, was really the culprit of the altercation and stupid on behalf of RVD. But in todays world of everyone self medicating themselves, (F) society and its need to bash a plant that grows naturally and isn't made of 1000's of chemicals in a lab. Im more pissed about the vicodin that who knows maybe he had a script for. I can really see those guys rollin down the streets of the D trying to score some pot and pills. Its called vinnie mack gots yo back. He knows whats going on, hell he probably supplies them himself. Kinda like steriods back in the day. You know cheers to RVD for giving up the belts, word is he recommended it. Because of the stupid a$$ stigma surrounded by a plant that causes far less harm the alcohol. But you know he realized to "save the business name", he had to let go for a few and watch as the smoke rises and clears the path once again.

42. Im sorry to say this, but Champs or not, famous or not, the law is the law and there to protect , it can't pick and choose who to bust for whatever reason, I know it seems kind of minute of a charge, but they did break the law, trust me, I have done worse, but If I got caught , my a** be in jail too!!! Im glad to see not all cops are crooked and pick and choose who they nail!!!

43. I hate to say this but, Im glad to see there is still cops out there who don't pick and choose who they will enforce the law for, Im not famous and trust me have done alot worse than they have done, BUT, there isnt a cop out there who would of let me off the hook...Im not famous, rich, ect....So, if you play , you pay, as small as the infraction may seem....Im glad to see some cops still respect the laws in place to keep everyone on a even level.....Come on' I think RVD and Sabu knew it was wrong, just didn't care, and thought they are BIG ECW stars, so they were exempt......This proves the opposite.!

44. I think wrestleing is GAY. It's a bunch of fairies running around in tights or a speedo. Groping eachother, and besides that it's fake, real fighters fight in the UFC. Now that is the sh*t that makes you want to go train for a fight and if anyone fights in World Fighting League Beat the sh*t out of my sons father, excuse me sperm donor Alex Boom-Boom Rivera he's a joke.
