WWE Smackdown: Wrestling Stars vs. Ohio Police

rob van dam

Unfortunately for Rob Van Dam, Ohio state trooper J.N. Baker is not a wrestling fan.

Trooper Baker pulled over the WWE star on July 2 for going 72 in a 55-mile-per-hour zone. Unfortunately for Van Dam -- whose real name is Robert Alex Szatowski -- Baker and his partner also smelled pot in the car, and slapped the wrestler with a misdemeanor citation for possessing marijuana and vicodin. Terry Michael Brunk, who goes by the wrestling name Sabu, was in the passenger seat of the car and also was cited. Brunk, who was wearing a cap picturing a marijuana leaf, admitted on the police tape that he had smoked dope before getting into the car.

When Van Dam tried to explain to the officer that he was on his way to a gig, the officer admitted "I don't follow wrestling." Later, Baker looked inside the driver's window and asked, "You always drive with your shirt off?"

91. ok.. I agree that what they did was not legally permitted, especially if they are public figures. Wrestlers are under contracts and they must follow rules and be responsable for their actions. That's the deal here, marihuana is legal in other parts of the world (I wonder why?) man!! its no big deal to smoke pot, the deal here is that they are in a position where actions like these are not well-seen in society. as far as their wrestling abilities go....they are among the best wrestlers ever to step in a ring!! damn... to bad things like these happen to successful people. Imagine if it was HHH....he wouldn't be placed against the wall, WWE was affected but I bet they're saying....they were ECW wrestlers under WWE contracts... and on a personal level RVD is a great role model. So he smokes pot, and? how is that bad? did he kill someone? did he steal? did he bang a nun? NO something a lot of people do and have the odasity to point fingers

92. Everyone who knew RVD knew of his history with marijuana and I agree it was wrong place at wrong time and it ain't like he was going 90. I personally know christian people who drive between 70 and 75 on the expressway. I also cleaned their dressingrooms back in the day at one of the auditoriums and I believe that yes they smoked before they left. A person who smokes cigarettes smells like cigarettes. I support RVD and SABU concidering the drugs were pain killers it ain't like it was LSD or CRACK if anyone knows the two wrestlers they were both fighting very grueling matches. I believe the marijuana and pain killers were actually for the pain. Marijuana relaxes you so does vicodin.TERRI... WE LOVE YOU RVD AND SABU AND SUPPORT YOU.

94. RVD and SABU are awesome wrestlers and deserve a second chance because they had to make the next show and had no choice but to drive. So apparently all the superstars drive the same way but just haven't gotten caught. E_C_DUB_RULZ_420 XANGA SITE AND MY SUBSCRIBERS SUPPORT YOU...~TERRI~

95. I'm late, but I'll still comment. I'm not surprised at all that RVD was caught. I mean, RVD used to go by RVD 4:20 (Like Austin 3:16) back in the day and did the whole "High Flying" thing. And besides...it's RVD.

97. Big deal! I love RVD and tons of people smoke weed every day and in all facets of American society. Doctors, lawyers, architects, dentists, and people from all walks of life smoke bud so don't give me this "Holier Than Thou" attitude because marijuana is barely even a drug. It doesn't hurt/kill nearly as many people as alcohol, plus WWE had to know what they were getting into when they hired my boy Rob. They knew his 4:20 angle so it shouldn't have come as a surprise. Bottom line is that Rob Van Dam can hold his own in the squared circle far better than 99% of the superstars in the federation today.
