17. Mel Gibson is an extremely fortunate individual with fame and wealth. However I will share this with you. My mother, at the age of 29 was killed by a drunk driver. That was 1966. The man was a military official and was never charged. She left behind, 4 daughters ages 3,5, 10 and 13. Our lives were forever changed. I do not have and will never have empathy, or sympathy for any individual who gets behind the wheel of any vehicle when they have been drinking. Even one drink can impare your judgement. In most cases the driver is not hurt, but the innocent victims in the other vehicles or his own vehicle are hurt or killed. These are senceless acts and I believe stiff penalties should be imposed.

20. What he does on his time is his business-he's only human too. :-)

21. Are you people kidding me? So big deal, Mel got a dui!
Why all the hate? For one, it isn't any of our business in the first place, and why talk about him like he just butchered his family.

I do not agree with drinking and driving but, it happens, OFTEN. He is human just like everyother offender.

You talk about how it took to long to get him to the station. Believe me, I am shocked the officer actually took him. Obviously he wasn't star struck, but he did give the rest of the world something to talk about. Wouldn't want your lives to be so empty.

23. Jesus would say, "judge not less ye be judged!"

So Mel demonstrates that he is as human and fallible as the rest of us, I knew that already.

Unless you don't drink a singe drop of alcohol, (and I don't...) anyone is a potential arrest for DUI. It depends on how much you've consummed, in a period of time, before getting behind the wheel.

Breathlyzers are super sensitive, (rightly so), anyone can believe they are fine, and blow numbers that qualify for arrest.

Far be it from me to pass judgement on Mel Gibson, (or anyone else for that matter), just because he is famous. I wish him all the best, and everyone else too!

Have a peace filled day!

24. Hey, just about anyone these days has or gets a DUI. It's not as shocking as most people would think. So what, he got pulled over for that. BFD. It's not like he had a car accident or ran somebody over. We don't even know how much alcohol was in his system. Maybe he just had a couple of glasses of wine with dinner and felt perfectly sober. It is really hard to tell sometimes. He is human just like all of us, and humans make mistakes. All those people out there talking down about Mel, should take a long look at their own lives, can you honestly say that you never once made a error in judgement? Come on now, be real!

26. Mel Gibson was an admitted alcoholic for many of the years of his adult life. His father is an admitted Jew Hater and Nazi admirer...This apple doesn't fall far from his father's tree despite his proclimations of just telling it like it is...and I for one, hope he goes back to heavy duty drinking and drug use so he is one less evil aspect of humanity the rest of his have to deal with. His family now has enough money to take care of him forever and he can be their problem rather than the rest of the worlds...

27. Now, now, he was probably driving home after mass. So what if he got in the communion line more than once? Ain't between nobody but him and Jesus. Hallelujah!

28. Just sit back and watch all the comments that will be pouring in saying stuff like: "He can't be a Christian if he was driving drunk" or calling him a hypocrite. People will be referencing The Passion of The Christ Movie, relating his behaviour and expanding it to a belief/or un-belief in God. Bottom line. We all fall short! No one is perfect all the time. Most of all, it doesn't take a perfect man or woman to call themselves a Christian!

29. Holy Grail!! Hitting the sacramental wine (or Foster's) a little too much at your last supper, Mel?
And how about that God damn Los Angeles County Sherrif' Department? Obviously just another secular, anti-God bunch of liberal dupes..... Stay out of Malibu Ann Coulter, Bill O'Reilly, Rush and Sean Hannity. They're out to get all you patriotic God-fearing Americans!!! :-)
