EXCLUSIVE: Mel Gibson Busted for DUI

Mel Gibson was arrested by the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department in Malibu, Calif. early this morning for suspicion of DUI. Bail was set at $5,000.

He was pulled over for speeding in his 2006 Lexus as he was heading eastbound on the Pacific Coast Highway and a Breathalyzer test was administered. The arrest report lists the time of arrest as 2:36AM and the time booked as 4:06AM. Gibson was released at 9:45 a.m.

A spokesman for the Los Angeles Country Sheriff's Department told TMZ, "Mel Gibson was arrested for suspicion of driving under the influence. He was released later this morning. The investigation was still ongoing, just like it would be with any other person."

A rep for Gibson tells TMZ they are "checking into" the matter.

46. Another pretty face with a famous name. Does not matter if he had one beer or 10in my state u are drunk!! He prob was over the limit , and one would think he would have called a taxi or had a friend (non-drinker, if there is one of those left) drive him. He may try to get out of it which can be done you know, but i think he will prob own up to his mistake. Notice they said under suspection

DUI, so he drank too much, so he think Jesus would approve of his movie, so he thinks Jesus would forgive him if he had hit and killed someone, so he knows he's rich enough to get out of any trouble. Well Mel, remember what the Bible said: It is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for a rich man to get through the gates of heaven. Think about that one Mel. 54. FYI: Sometimes it does take over an hour to get booked. There's the additional breathalyzer to be done at the station. Then all personal items have to be removed and documented, ie jewelry, keys, shoelaces, etc. Then comes the fingerprinting, of ALL your fingers, which are scanned and reviewed onscreen, and THEN the paperwork all gets filed, and that's the time they put down as booking time. Its a long, arduous process.

Way to go Nancy! Mel made a movie, people. He's a director! He's an actor! He makes mistakes like the rest of us all! I can only laugh at the idiots who call him things like 'nazi lover', 'holier than thou', and 'jackass'.

How embarrassing a mistake he made though, and I do hope he learns from it!

57. Ok everyone who is perfect stand-up please. We all make mistakes, Adam and Eve made mistakes, and I'm sure everyone of you negative naysayers have made your fair share of mistakes as well. Get a clue people. I don't condone drinking and driving but I know alot of people who get pulled over everyday and if he weren't a celebrity noone would even care.

60. That goes to show he is human just like us. No matter what I'm still a fan and praise God for touching him to make the movie Passions. A lot of people changed their life because of it. He can drink if he wants to. Thats between him and God. Its just that he got caught driving. Now he has to deal with the police. My prayers are with him.
