1336. Ok... this is ridiculous. I am glad he didn't kill himself or anyone else. For crying out loud.... the guy was drunk, stupid and pathetic. Let us all get over it and go on to bigger and more important issues like~~~~ .... if Japan's royal couple with have a boy. Now that is really ...really important~ this world is amazing!

1337. A man of faith recieves his reward from GOD: not man. His flesh is not what matters in this case. A DUI doesn't make you a bad person. It's the selfish and envious peace officer that wasn't forgiving that did wrong. Every individual is a potential business contact. There goes the officers gift--in a beer can.

1341. It amazes me that the Compassion of Christ is the movie that most of criticisms seem revolve around instead of the man. I don't recall Mel ever indicating that he had been anointed of god to be Saint Gibson of Australia. I certainly would have better sense than to pick any actor to be my spiritual guide through this life. It just so happened that Mel had enough savvy to produce a very lucrative film that someone, somewhere was going to disagree with. If the rather anonymous and vitriloic commentors have set themselves up as the next generation of Saints - beware that you don't break any traffic laws that endangers other people's lives: speed can kill, failing to signal can kill, illegal lane changes can kill, cutting a trucker off in traffic can kill, walking in front of a moving vehice can kill, bycycling out your lane can kill.etc.etc.etc.

If you don't like the Compassion of Christ so be it. But to somehow ascribe to Mel that he annnounced to the world that he is a Saint because he made a movie that he believed to be a historically accurate 'religious' film and that he may have gained more insight into religion thereby making him a nut is ludricrous.

That said, 'IFFFFFFF' Mel is guilty, then shame on him and anyone else who drives under the influence and endangers lives.

1342. This does not change how I feel about Mel Gibson. Yes, he may have a problem with drinking, but it is something he has to deal with. He is human like the rest of us and makes mistakes. Nobody is perfect. I agree that Stars deal with certain things differently than others, but maybe they get too caught up in their fame and fortune. Who knows? I feel that if Mel said what he said and did what he did, he should be tried like anyone else. If I did what he did, it would go practically unnoticed. Because he is famous and rich, it all gets to be big news and the celebrity has to pay for it one way or another. I hope all the best for Mel and I hope he can get this straightened out. In some ways I feel for celebrities because they can't lead an ordinary life like I do. But that is the price of fame and fortune.

Good Luck Mel & Family !! Hope to meet you some day in Washington State!

Your fan always,

1343. "I acted like a person completely out of control when I was arrested, and said things that I do not believe to be true and which are despicable"

That's what his publicist wrote for him to say in a statement.

What a bunch of crap. Everyone who knows anything about alcohol would know that when you are under the influence, you are more susceptible to say things and do things that you want to say or do, but usually wouldn’t.

I can’t believe he would read out such a statement when that fact is undeniable. He should have just apologized to those people he offended; it really is nobodies business what he believes.

Mel Gibson really does hates Jews from the bottom of his heart, considering the occasion had nothing to do with the topics of religion, he must really have it nailed in him.

1344. Hello I am Deaf Jewish guy from Rochester, New York, I do really hate Mel Gibson for his action of anti-Semitism toward the Jewish community. Therefore, there is no way for Mel Gibson to say his apologize to the Jewish community for his behavior of Anti-Semitism toward the Jews. Therefore, he is a true anti-Semitism because he did that several times in his life time included his father was one who really hated the Jews. Therefore, he is hated the Jews too.

However, when he was drunk that time, he expressed his true feeling toward the police officer about how he is really hated about the Jews. Again, there are obviously that he is a true anti-Semitism period. I pray that the Jewish community will not forgive him for his action of anti-Semitism toward the Jewish community period!

1346. I don't know about the rest of the world, but I am sick to death of Mel Gibson's "Apology Tour". Give me a frickin' break! If he didn't have a movie coming out, he would not be going out of his way to make any apologies to anyone. He's so arrogant and self important. It's so obvious that it kills him to have to even admit that he did anything wrong. He looks and sounds forced into it. And as far as all of his assorted explanations for what alcohol does to a person....who does he think he's talking to? A nation of people who have never been drunk before?? We know what alcohol does to a person a**hole! And just as it mentioned in the MSN article, it does NOT make you say things that aren't on some level in your psyche to begin with. If anything, it brings them to the forefront, and gives you the guts to say them out loud. Which is exactly what I believe happened here. And I'm so tired of his pathetic attempts at apology. He's not sorry. He's just sorry he has to apologize. There's a big difference.

1347. its not that we're attacking him because he's a celebrity, we're attacking him because he's an asshole jerkoff f*ck, and we enjoy seeing him humiliated after all the horrible things that he has done and said.

1348. As I read everyone's comments most negative......that is what is wrong with society. Everyone looks for the wrong in people instead of the good. Does anyone know how many people are pulled over daily for DUI's and does anyone know of those people how many lose controll and do and say things they don't mean? Of course not, because those people aren't making billions of dollars, and because they are not famous.
Famous people are no better than anyone else, we are all human beings and we are all equal. Everyone makes mistakes, every second of everyday, someone made a mistake. Mel Gibson clearly realizes he made a mistake and has apologized. He recognizes his disease, and intends to seek help.
This world would be a better place to live if people tried to help one another instead of looking to thrive on the negative. A thought for all of you out there who find the need to criticize and pass judgement on someone who has apologized for his mistake........you are not perfect you have made mistakes...how many of those did you not correct or apologize for?????
