Gibson's Anti-Semitic Tirade -- Alleged Cover Up

EXCLUSIVE: MEL GIBSONTMZ has learned that Mel Gibson went on a rampage when he was arrested Friday on suspicion of drunk driving, hurling religious epithets. TMZ has also learned that the Los Angeles County Sheriff's department had the initial report doctored to keep the real story under wraps.

TMZ has four pages of the original report prepared by the arresting officer in the case, L.A. County Sheriff's Deputy James Mee. According to the report, Gibson became agitated after he was stopped on Pacific Coast Highway and told he was to be detained for drunk driving Friday morning in Malibu. The actor began swearing uncontrollably. Gibson repeatedly said, "My life is f****d." Law enforcement sources say the deputy, worried that Gibson might become violent, told the actor that he was supposed to cuff him but would not, as long as Gibson cooperated. As the two stood next to the hood of the patrol car, the deputy asked Gibson to get inside. Deputy Mee then walked over to the passenger door and opened it. The report says Gibson then said, "I'm not going to get in your car," and bolted to his car. The deputy quickly subdued Gibson, cuffed him and put him inside the patrol car.

TMZ has learned that Deputy Mee audiotaped the entire exchange between himself and Gibson, from the time of the traffic stop to the time Gibson was put in the patrol car, and that the tape fully corroborates the written report.

Once inside the car, a source directly connected with the case says Gibson began banging himself against the seat. The report says Gibson told the deputy, "You mother f****r. I'm going to f*** you." The report also says "Gibson almost continually [sic] threatened me saying he 'owns Malibu' and will spend all of his money to 'get even' with me."

The report says Gibson then launched into a barrage of anti-Semitic statements: "F*****g Jews... The Jews are responsible for all the wars in the world." Gibson then asked the deputy, "Are you a Jew?"

The deputy became alarmed as Gibson's tirade escalated, and called ahead for a sergeant to meet them when they arrived at the station. When they arrived, a sergeant began videotaping Gibson, who noticed the camera and then said, "What the f*** do you think you're doing?"

A law enforcement source says Gibson then noticed another female sergeant and yelled, "What do you think you're looking at, sugar tits?"

We're told Gibson took two blood alcohol tests, which were videotaped, and continued saying how "f****d" he was and how he was going to "f***" Deputy Mee.

Gibson was put in a cell with handcuffs on. He said he needed to urinate, and after a few minutes tried manipulating his hands to unzip his pants. Sources say Deputy Mee thought Gibson was going to urinate on the floor of the booking cell and asked someone to take Gibson to the bathroom.

After leaving the bathroom, Gibson then demanded to make a phone call. He was taken to a pay phone and, when he didn't get a dial tone, we're told Gibson threw the receiver against the phone. Deputy Mee then warned Gibson that if he damaged the phone he could be charged with felony vandalism. We're told Gibson was then asked, and refused, to sign the necessary paperwork and was thrown in a detox cell.

Deputy Mee then wrote an eight-page report detailing Gibson's rampage and comments. Sources say the sergeant on duty felt it was too "inflammatory." A lieutenant and captain then got involved and calls were made to Sheriff's headquarters. Sources say Mee was told Gibson's comments would incite a lot of "Jewish hatred," that the situation in Israel was "way too inflammatory." It was mentioned several times that Gibson, who wrote, directed, and produced 2004's "The Passion of the Christ," had incited "anti-Jewish sentiment" and "For a drunk driving arrest, is this really worth all that?"

We're told Deputy Mee was then ordered to write another report, leaving out the incendiary comments and conduct. Sources say Deputy Mee was told the sanitized report would eventually end up in the media and that he could write a supplemental report that contained the redacted information -- a report that would be locked in the watch commander's safe.

Initially, a Sheriff's official told TMZ the arrest occurred "without incident." On Friday night, Sheriff's spokesman Steve Whitmore told TMZ: "The L.A. County Sheriff's Department investigation into the arrest of Mr. Gibson on suspicion of driving under the influence will be complete and will contain every factual piece of evidence. Nothing will be sanitized. There was absolutely no favoritism shown to this suspect or any other. When this file is presented to the Los Angeles County District Attorney, it will contain everything. Nothing will be left out."

On Saturday, Gibson released the following statement:

"After drinking alcohol on Thursday night, I did a number of things that were very wrong and for which I am ashamed. I drove a car when I should not have, and was stopped by the LA County Sheriffs. The arresting officer was just doing his job and I feel fortunate that I was apprehended before I caused injury to any other person. I acted like a person completely out of control when I was arrested, and said things that I do not believe to be true and which are despicable. I am deeply ashamed of everything I said. Also, I take this opportunity to apologize to the deputies involved for my belligerent behavior. They have always been there for me in my community and indeed probably saved me from myself. I disgraced myself and my family with my behavior and for that I am truly sorry. I have battled with the disease of alcoholism for all of my adult life and profoundly regret my horrific relapse. I apologize for any behavior unbecoming of me in my inebriated state and have already taken necessary steps to ensure my return to health."

6511. unsubstantiated, undocumented? Did you even bother to read all the words in the article? and I quote " ...Deputy Mee audiotaped the entire exchange between himself and Gibson, from the time of the traffic stop to the time Gibson was put in the patrol car, and that the tape fully corroborates the written report.". And as for all you quoting the Good Book, I thought there was something about judging others as being up to a higher power. Mel was brought up in an enviroment of hate and misinformation, it is hard not to let that slip out, when his whole childhood was reinforced with bigotry and lies. I find it very hard to believe that any one has not slipped up and uttered some sort of hatred against gays, fats, blacks jews, slopes or some other group. The test of a person is apologizing with sincerity and trying to overcome the hatred deeply instilled within. He made a terrible mistake and he will pay for it in the long run.

6512. I'M CONFUSED. MEL GIBSON OPENLY ADMITS WORSHIPING A JEWISH SAVIOR AND HE'S AN ANTI-SEMITE?

6513. As a Jew, I can say that Mel is precisely correct in his anti-semitic sentiment. Obviously, he has thoroughly researched Jewish history. The Babylonian -
Talmud IS the Grail for Eastern European and Russian Orthodox Jewry.
According to that un-sanitized version of the Talmud, Jews have all of the rights,
and the rest of us are no better than "animals". Jewry has ruined the American
and Western Cultures by use of money begetting power, and total obfuscation
of real facts; twisting and turning them to make us believe that religion is the
ultimate evil. The "Illuminati", those educated Jews who actively advocate
anti-Christian values, and want to run a one-world Gov't., are running our major media: magazines, newspapers, TV show production, the movies, our elite
universities, and the legal profession. We have been brain-washed and dumbed-down by the Jewish introduction of governmental policies that do not accrue to
American interests. Mel Gibson has used his own money to produce the only
pro-Christian movie from Hollywood since 1975. He is truly a man with a candle in a dark cave. Bravo for Mr. Gibson. Nobody else will stand up and tell you the truth for fear of being labled anti-Zionist and therefore anti-Jewish. Israel was established in 1948 because influential Jews here insisted that our Federal
Gov't put their full weight behind the Jewish establishment in the Mid-East.
In so doing, we are among the most hated nations in the world today. Other nations know that we are under the thumb of Jewish money, like their giant
AIPAC pro-Israel lobby in Washington. Gibson knows all of these things and wants to let people know the TRUTH. We should be 110% behind him, if we want to save our Nation and culture.

6514. What did he say wrong besides "sugartits"? The Jews do start all the wars, but they didnt tell you to get in the car drunk! Im tired of Jews whining about everything! I work with negros and all the time hear anti-white remarks only thing is im too smart to let it bother me and consider the source! Jews are a cancer on this Earth but pick your battles against them better or suffer Gibson-like consequences! Most of all whatever your b.s. religion...DONT DRINK AND DRIVE!!!

6515. If Mel has a drinking problem he could have said and done things he didn't mean or believe. I have walked that path, I used to drink heavy. I did a lot of stupid things and said things I didn't really mean. And most of the times I didn't remember a thing I said or done. I have now been sober for over 30 years but can still feel shame of things I did and said. Give him a break, It is a sickness that with help he can overcome.

6516. Anyone who made a post about how his bashing of jews was wrong obviously didn't realize that he was DRUNK. People can't think straight when they are drunk, and say things that they don't really mean. JUST IN CASE YOU DIDN'T READ THAT: HE WAS DRUNK.

6517. If you really want to know what's on someones mind, get him/her drunk. Enough said.

6518. Mel Gibson is a fat, ugly, rude, loud, nazi.

6519. Being drunk is not an exucse for making those comments. OOPS! I called you a little bitch! But I'm drunk so it doesn't count.

6520. Alcohol losens inhibitions. Mel said what he feels. He is a bigot, a Jew hater.
Yet he ammased his fortune of a largly Jewish industry. We all make mistakes but how can a professes religious man be so intolerant? None of this is what Jesus taught. Hie father denies he holocost. The apple does not fall far from the tree. Just proves that people with enermous talent can be bigots or worse.

6521. Hi everyone....um, yeah this is a pretty bad story and nothing good that Mel did can cover up something bad like this. But who are we to judge Mel or anyone else? Can you say that you have never thought things like that towards someone? We've surely all acted like that to our parents when we were little and the only difference is we're not stars so no one knew about it. It is HUMAN. As far as this quote:

"Jesus would be ashamed of you."

I think that is really pathetic because the reason Jesus came was because we need Him to save us from our own dirty human nature. Can you say you would represent Jesus when you are drunk? I am not saying it was fine, it was definitely a mistake. That is why we need Jesus, who still loves Mel and all of us, and hopefully Mel's apology was sincere and he will seek God's help to leave alcoholism for good.

6522. Mel drank too much and said a lot of crap he didn’t mean. We all did at one time or another. I think many religious organizations or so called members are also narrow minded. This whole religious thing is too radical on all sides now days. That’s why I'm not religious. Religion causes wars.

6524. Some consider the story of the persecution and crucifiction of Jesus to inflame anti-Jewish (as in against the followers of the religion of Judaism) and hence anti-semitic feelings. 'The Passion of The Christ' released a stream of hate against Mr. Gibson because he showed the cruelty inherent in the story and this was perceived by some as being 'anti-semetic.' Strike one against Mel Gibson. (note: By the very over-reaction of his detractors, feelings of anti-semitism may have been stirred in Mr. Gibson.)

Mr. Gibson is a high profile Christian who has come out against the actions of Mr. Bush and by extension, the neo-cons and their agenda to destroy our Republic and bring war and misery (aka: 'collateral damage') to the innocent semites who aren't Jewish. Strike two against Mel Gibson.

Human as he is, Mel Gibson makes a very bad mistake and ends up getting arrested. Being a drunken fool, he behaves in a manner totally unfitting a dignified Christian individual. Strike three against Mel Gibson.

It would appear that this incident is the perfect opportunity and it's disclosure is a deliberate attempt to take advantage of the situation by those who have an axe to grind against Mr. Gibson.

Lastly, regardless of what he did, the Sheriff's Dept and/or deputies had no business releasing the arrest report or such inflammatory reports of the incident. BAD POLICE WORK. Should Mr. Gibson decide to go to trial, his attorney should have an easy time convincing a judge that the jury pool has been prejudiced by this disclosure.

6525. He was drunk. I guess the judgemental ones are the ones who have never done something stupid, or said something stupid when they were drunk. I said I was going to make love to the Great Lakes PD in the middle of a chocolate cake. Would I? probably not..
