Gibson's Anti-Semitic Tirade -- Alleged Cover Up

EXCLUSIVE: MEL GIBSONTMZ has learned that Mel Gibson went on a rampage when he was arrested Friday on suspicion of drunk driving, hurling religious epithets. TMZ has also learned that the Los Angeles County Sheriff's department had the initial report doctored to keep the real story under wraps.

TMZ has four pages of the original report prepared by the arresting officer in the case, L.A. County Sheriff's Deputy James Mee. According to the report, Gibson became agitated after he was stopped on Pacific Coast Highway and told he was to be detained for drunk driving Friday morning in Malibu. The actor began swearing uncontrollably. Gibson repeatedly said, "My life is f****d." Law enforcement sources say the deputy, worried that Gibson might become violent, told the actor that he was supposed to cuff him but would not, as long as Gibson cooperated. As the two stood next to the hood of the patrol car, the deputy asked Gibson to get inside. Deputy Mee then walked over to the passenger door and opened it. The report says Gibson then said, "I'm not going to get in your car," and bolted to his car. The deputy quickly subdued Gibson, cuffed him and put him inside the patrol car.

TMZ has learned that Deputy Mee audiotaped the entire exchange between himself and Gibson, from the time of the traffic stop to the time Gibson was put in the patrol car, and that the tape fully corroborates the written report.

Once inside the car, a source directly connected with the case says Gibson began banging himself against the seat. The report says Gibson told the deputy, "You mother f****r. I'm going to f*** you." The report also says "Gibson almost continually [sic] threatened me saying he 'owns Malibu' and will spend all of his money to 'get even' with me."

The report says Gibson then launched into a barrage of anti-Semitic statements: "F*****g Jews... The Jews are responsible for all the wars in the world." Gibson then asked the deputy, "Are you a Jew?"

The deputy became alarmed as Gibson's tirade escalated, and called ahead for a sergeant to meet them when they arrived at the station. When they arrived, a sergeant began videotaping Gibson, who noticed the camera and then said, "What the f*** do you think you're doing?"

A law enforcement source says Gibson then noticed another female sergeant and yelled, "What do you think you're looking at, sugar tits?"

We're told Gibson took two blood alcohol tests, which were videotaped, and continued saying how "f****d" he was and how he was going to "f***" Deputy Mee.

Gibson was put in a cell with handcuffs on. He said he needed to urinate, and after a few minutes tried manipulating his hands to unzip his pants. Sources say Deputy Mee thought Gibson was going to urinate on the floor of the booking cell and asked someone to take Gibson to the bathroom.

After leaving the bathroom, Gibson then demanded to make a phone call. He was taken to a pay phone and, when he didn't get a dial tone, we're told Gibson threw the receiver against the phone. Deputy Mee then warned Gibson that if he damaged the phone he could be charged with felony vandalism. We're told Gibson was then asked, and refused, to sign the necessary paperwork and was thrown in a detox cell.

Deputy Mee then wrote an eight-page report detailing Gibson's rampage and comments. Sources say the sergeant on duty felt it was too "inflammatory." A lieutenant and captain then got involved and calls were made to Sheriff's headquarters. Sources say Mee was told Gibson's comments would incite a lot of "Jewish hatred," that the situation in Israel was "way too inflammatory." It was mentioned several times that Gibson, who wrote, directed, and produced 2004's "The Passion of the Christ," had incited "anti-Jewish sentiment" and "For a drunk driving arrest, is this really worth all that?"

We're told Deputy Mee was then ordered to write another report, leaving out the incendiary comments and conduct. Sources say Deputy Mee was told the sanitized report would eventually end up in the media and that he could write a supplemental report that contained the redacted information -- a report that would be locked in the watch commander's safe.

Initially, a Sheriff's official told TMZ the arrest occurred "without incident." On Friday night, Sheriff's spokesman Steve Whitmore told TMZ: "The L.A. County Sheriff's Department investigation into the arrest of Mr. Gibson on suspicion of driving under the influence will be complete and will contain every factual piece of evidence. Nothing will be sanitized. There was absolutely no favoritism shown to this suspect or any other. When this file is presented to the Los Angeles County District Attorney, it will contain everything. Nothing will be left out."

On Saturday, Gibson released the following statement:

"After drinking alcohol on Thursday night, I did a number of things that were very wrong and for which I am ashamed. I drove a car when I should not have, and was stopped by the LA County Sheriffs. The arresting officer was just doing his job and I feel fortunate that I was apprehended before I caused injury to any other person. I acted like a person completely out of control when I was arrested, and said things that I do not believe to be true and which are despicable. I am deeply ashamed of everything I said. Also, I take this opportunity to apologize to the deputies involved for my belligerent behavior. They have always been there for me in my community and indeed probably saved me from myself. I disgraced myself and my family with my behavior and for that I am truly sorry. I have battled with the disease of alcoholism for all of my adult life and profoundly regret my horrific relapse. I apologize for any behavior unbecoming of me in my inebriated state and have already taken necessary steps to ensure my return to health."

6556. All I have to say is "let he who is without sin cast he first stone"....Mel Gibson is
not perfect and neither am I or any of you. Just for the record my biological father
was Jewish.

6557. I don't think Mel is against the jews. He was drunk and he let the enemy got to him. The lord will forgive Mel and so should we!

6558. Mel Gibson is a B actor loser. His tirade only confirms what everyone already knew. In my opinion, it's the police supervision which needs to be scrutinized for trying to "sanitize" their own officer's report. Our country is doing enough "covering up", do we really need local PD supervision, who the local taxpayers support, CONTROLLING what we are allowed to know. Kudos to the officer for doing his duty ... and Mel, why don't you just take your hate messages and find a nice slimy rock to live under?

6559. Dear Sweet Melvin,

So Melvin, you own Malibu ... that's rich. You don't even own control of your own hate. Take a few more slugs Mel, maybe you can own Auchswitz too? You'd love that, wouldn't you. It's too bad you think that you're better than everyone else. Oh Mellie, come judgement day, G-d has some more sizzling real estate for you to own ... it's set aside especially for people like you. Oh, but don't forget the
SPF 1,000,000,000; I heard that it can get pretty, pretty, pretty (from Larry David's show) warm down there ... no worries Melster, I've heard that Adolf's got a stolen air conditioner. I bet if your really "nice" to him Melvie, he might even share.

6560. Lets stop the Mel bashing. Yes, he said some things I am sure he regrets and he has appologized for them. He was drunk. What I would like to know have his critics never made a mistake? Do they not accept an appology? Let us remember all the good things Mel has done, they far outweight the one brief episode he made while intoxicated.

6561. When alchol is the factor, one may say things the do not mean. It is unfortunate that Mel did say those things. I believe he should be forgiven. He has had enough bad publicity. Give him a break.

6562. Mel is dissappointing here in two ways. First, it's always so very sad when celebrities allow their fame and fortune go to their head - when they believe they are so much better than the "common" person that they used to be.

Secondly, it's equally sad when you find that someone has so totally misrepresented himself to us - epecially to this magnitude. Mel portrayed himself to be, at minumum, a very good, kind, caring person - especially regarding his "Passion" efforts - and now we find that, deep down inside, Mel is a self-absorbed bigot.

Yes, everybody makes a mistake on occasion, but being drunk is no excuse for the deplorable things Mel said or the disrespectful and condescening way that he acted. Being drunk would not cause Mel to suddenly make up hateful feelings that did not exist previously. I strongly commend the police for trying to do the right thing for the sake of all by using a "softened" police report, but Mel didn't deserve that favor.

That aside, people do make mistakes and people do learn from them. So we can only hope that Mel learns from this incident and his new Passion will be to become a kinder person that is more accepting of others ...like Jesus was, and like Jesus taught us to be.

6563. Thank god he didn't say anything about Muhammed! He'd probably end up dead like Theo van Gogh! Of course, the 'Jews', now have a right to burn flags and kill indiscriminately. Oh sorry, they aren't affiliated with the "Religion of Peace".

6564. OMG I cannot believe these people think this story is undocumented LOL
Mel has admitted he said these things. I agree when people drink they say all kinds of stupid things do stupid things and have remorse in the morning. He has damaged him, self deeply by this tirade and will pay for it in many ways.
Jesus was a Jew. The RCC has admitted theninfact Jesus was not killed by the Jews and they did nothing about the Hollocost and infact they supported it. Mel was raised by a moron who denies the Jews were slaughtered . What do you expect froma man raised by this moron.?
Mel needs to clean up his act. He has even said his wife probably wont go to heaven because she is not a good catholic. ! His ego is a joke and he has small mans syndrome.
He is talented no 2 ways about it but his wife ha put up with years of adultery and boozing by this man and he needs to be taken down an notch . If anyone gets into the gates of heaven it will be his wife for forgiving him his sins LOL and not divorcing his sorry ass. She is the saint LOL
I think most of the bigwigs in Hollywood have just ignored his crap anmd are getting on with their business. He is amoney maker and they all forgive if the cash comes in for them but don't look for them to invite him to any Bar miz'es
lol He was wrong admits it and now has to pay the price and saying sorry isn the answer proving he is really sorry is what he needs to do.

6565. No matter who this is. Nobody is perfect. What Mel Gibson said, he should be ashamed of himself and apologize. From what I can see he is ashamed and has publicly apologized. I for one can say I have said some pretty dumb things in my life and I thank God, that the people that I affected forgave me. I truly thank them. Can one imagine how this has turned his life upside down, along with his families. He is paying restitution for this. I don't believe he is a bad man. If we as supposedly, "loving human beings" can't give him another chance, are we a better person?????

6566. It's funny to hear people ridiculing Mel, like they know him, like it will make a difference in their lives or his. You, who are passing judgment, need to look at yourselves before looking at others. If you're looking for sin, start at home.

In America, we enjoy this little thing called "free speech." I'm Italian and if Mel or anyone else whined about Italians, I would care less. Worry about what others speak of you, especially while in a drunken state, is a sign of insecurity. Be at peace with yourself and you'll be more tolerant of others. Mel's words did not hurt anyone except himself. Nobody has to be nice to anyone and nobody has to like everyone or speak good of everyone. Be yourself. In your life, no matter what you do, some will like you, some will dislike you, some will hate you and some will love you. If you spend your time worrying about what others think, you'll be living a charade. Be honest and be yourself, good or bad. I would rather someone who doesn't like me be honest about it rather than humor me. Honesty really is the best policy, no matter what the Liberals say! (O:=

6567. Judy...

You do not get to Heaven by doing good deeds. There is but one way to get to Heaven and that is through Jesus Christ, our Lord. You should read up.

Judge not, lest ye be judged. Forgive to be forgiven. Let he without sin cast the first stone.

Mel does not owe anyone anything, including an apology. It is a free country. He has the right to believe and say as he wishes. We have the right to [not] accept him for who he his but we have no right to demand anything from him.

Had he not been a celebrity, we would have never heard about this incident. I'm sure you wouldn't want your every move publicised. I watch Mel's movies because I like his acting. Unless he denounces God, publicly condemns our military, changes his party affiliation to Liberal (see anti-Christ) and/or gives aid and comfort to our enemies, I'll continue to.

6568. I'm your average young man, 21 years old, attending university for political science.

Take a moment to consider the following:

1. I head to the local pub, and have a few drinks.
2. I get in my car, turn the key, and go for a drive.
3. I may be exceeding the speed limit, and am pulled over by the police.
4. I may or may not rant and rave about Jews/Homosexuals/
5. I'm taken to the station and spend a few hours in a cell.

Are you following me? We're almost finished.

Q: Would this make the evening news, or be cause for discontent across the nation?
A: No.

Q: Besides any moral problems you have about driving under the influence, would any of you, who are SO outspoken about this issue care?
A: No.

So my final question to you is this ... Who cares? So Mel Gibson had a few drinks ... Yes.
He was wrong to violate the law, and endanger himself and others with such reckless actions.
Mel Gibson is not God, he is not the President of the United States, he's just a guy .. like you or me, so why all the commotion?

6569. Mel,

Now he has been "scooped" for sipping a Bud.
Naughty, naughty Mel.
(In a restaurant,in public, in moderation, in a roped off area to prevent scoopers parachuting in and lickin' his licquor!)

Jesus was a Jew but as far as I know he didn't suggest running around financing and now fighting wars since before and after he was born. And what about the 20MM russians that died on the eastern front in WW11, that nobody mentions.

It is time my jewish friends (my partner is jewish) just started to realize they aint the centre of the world; much as they have succeeded and wish to be.

Give Gibson a break and move on dudes - time to look forward as you are beginning to bore us all stiff.

May all the gods bless y'all,

Mike wood

6570. Ok, Mel Gibson got drunk and said some nasty things. Who never did? If Mel was not the extemely handsome man that he is or was not the big star that he is nobody would care. He made a mistake and he apologized for it. What is he supposed to do now? He can not apologize anymore. He came forward with his alcohol addiction and I believe that was a hard thing to do. Mel is a great man and I feel the public is being too hard on him. People in glass houses shouldn't throw stones. Is there anyone who never said something they regret? It does not matter unless you are a star.
