Bulletin: Sheriff's Dept. Releases Gibson Mug Shot

The Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department has just released actor Mel Gibson's booking photo from his early Friday morning arrest.

TMZ was first to break the news of Gibson's arrest on suspicion of DUI and the first to break the story of an attempted cover up by the Sheriff's Department.

16. He should sing 'I Am Sixteen, Going On Seventeen' for me to be able to pass better judgement.

17. He doesn't look all that impared to me. I think a lot of people just would like to see him squirm, but Mel, I think you are doing great. When will we see your sequal about those 34 children killed 2 days ago?

18. He's not a nazi, just a nazi sympathizer. He's not a Christian, either, just a wannabe Christian.

You should be so proud.

Still a Mel Gibson fan.

21. When you've had a family member killed by a drunk driver, then you can defend this jerk and his oft-drunken driving non-citations. (Because he's a starrrrrrrrrrrrr.) No one's blowing it out of proportion; he took care of that himself when he behaved as he did. Thank God (and yes, I am a Christian) he didn't kill anyone--this time.

22. He looks pretty happy, but then again, being hammered will have that effect on you.

23. Attempted coverup? Does Harvey Levin have it out for cops or what? Jeez.

24. Well, the DRUNKEN MUGSHOT is FAR BETTER than the ridiculous hack-cropped-stoopids that TMZ has been running with their "EXCLUSIVE!" "coverage" of their determination toward the demise of Mel Gibson.

25. That's what a severe anti-semite looks like. He looks like everyone else. No way to tell the hate inside the man's soul.

26. Oh stop! Enough already. Damn, the guy was obviously inebriated, I'm certain that we have "all" said things we end up regret saying, out loud, while in the throes of an alcoholic bias. It just goes to show that even "public figures" are, in fact, human too. He's not a terrorist, or a child molester, or a murderer, nor a threat to society, so why castigate him so vehemently? I know many people who become belligerent when intoxicated, I respect them no less just because of their weakness. With all the "politcal correctness" emphasized on the ban of cigarette smoking (much less detrimental to society) one would think their is a great disparity of morals being perpetrated onto society, when you stop to consider there have been relatively few tragic deaths by "smoking and driving". Why is the Alcohol Industry allowed to continue to "push" their "drug" unchecked, to the public? If anyone is culpable here it is the "pushers" of the last "legal drug". I think we have our priorities backwards. God forbid someone should blow "second hand" smoke onto someone. Yet it's "OK" to get behind the wheel and become a potential scourge to society, so long as we do it, "in moderation", yeah right, try to convince someone with a latent alcohol problem, they must "stop" before they become dangerous to themselves as well as to the public. See how far "that" gets you. But "we" are allowed to keep on using (abusing) alcohol, then when the, inevitable, tragedy finally occurs, people just "cluck" their tongues, shake their heads and reassure themselves, "this could never happen to me". Yet the aftermath is so pathetically final, and real, that it boggles the mind how it remains permissible within a so-called "decent" society. Why "we" condone these travesties of common sense to occur, is a conundrum which leaves me baffled. Leave Mel alone, go after the "child molesters" and "murderers" and "deviants" which permeate our society and can be found in "every" walk of life, right down to our Government, Theological establishments, etc., etc., etc...........

27. LOL..i think Mel looks good given the fact that he was drunk and is a chain smoker. Mel, defintely don't grow the beard back.

Nice shot though. Not too bad for a mug shot for a guy his age.

Still loving Mel. Leave him alone already. I'd love to see TMZ and the Jewish community in Hollywood get this worked up for Anti-Muslim Anti-Arab sentiments as well as for racist crap that H'wood produces

28. Where is the real proof of an attempted cover up? Sounds like Harvey and the boys are out to get Mel. Police reports are written and rewritten all the time. Becareful TMZ because when the smoke clears you might find yourselfs taking pictures at Walmart.

30. To all the Mel Haters: Why can't we all get along! I think he looks pretty damn good. I think all the haters are worried that his new movie is going to make more than passion. What did passion make, I think it was around 600 MILLION DOLLARS!!!!!!!!!!!! Why don't you all go out and protest this new film, it worked so good last time. Peace.
