Bruce Willis Says He's the Victim of a Shakedown

Bruce WillisTMZ has obtained a lawsuit filed by actor Bruce Willis against one of his childhood friends, claiming the friend is attempting a "shakedown."

The suit, filed Tuesday in Los Angeles County Superior Court, claims that Bruce DiMattia and Willis were childhood friends. Court documents allege that in 2002, Willis offered DiMattia a job. From then, until mid-2006, he was employed by Willis. One of DiMattia's responsibilities, the documents state, was to "organize private family photographs, videotapes, DVDs and films depicting Willis and his family members." Willis also says by nature of DiMattia's employment, he "acquired knowledge of certain highly personal, private and confidential information" about Willis and his family. The suit says that in addition to "other compensation" paid to DiMattia, DiMattia lived rent free in a home owned by Willis.

The suit says that after the termination of DiMattia's employment, he refused to move out of the home owned by Willis and has "wrongfully retained possession" of certain private photos and videos. The suit also claims that DiMattia informed Willis that he had "surreptitiously prepared a book manuscript" which features private information about the star which contains what Willis says are "several falsehoods and lies that could embarrass [him]" and that this manuscript has allegedly already been shown to at least three book publishing companies. Willis says that DiMattia has "threatened to unlawfully exploit private family photographs and memorabilia belonging to Mr. Willis, and to sell a manuscript containing lies about Mr. Willis" unless Willis "agrees to pay him over $100,000 and buy him a car." The suit claims these allegations constitute extortion and violate Willis' right of privacy.

Willis is seeking an excess of $1 million in damages and asks for return of Willis' private mementos, or if they cannot be delivered, a sum no less that $50,000.

16. This is one stupid guy he had a job that I would love to have had. Pals with Bruce free house to live in and who knows what he paid him for doing this job. But NO it just was not enough for the greedy bastard. Bruce needs some new friends and I for one would be happy to be his friend and sign an oath to never tell anything I see or hear when in his presence. That is why I would never employ friends or relatives. Now whats the bum going to do?

18. #15 Why sue? Come on. Put yourself in the place of someone who hired someone, forget the childhood friend thing, you paid a salary to them, let them live in your house rent free..no matter how many houses you have, your job was to take the photos which possibly Bruce paid for all the equipment and cost of that, etc.
Now that you have put yourself there, think of that person after they are no longer under your employ, they won't get out of your house, they won't give you back your property and on top of that they say give me money and a car and you can have them back.
They are also trying to financially benefit from these items.
Suing is the only thing to do. He has to get him out of the house, he deserves his stuff back and the guy needs to know he will not put up with any of this from him or anybody else.
He sues for monetary because this guy 1. probably got paid alot in 4 yrs, lived rent free and probably traveled with them free.
He is trying to make money off of what isn't his.

I already know you can't trust family members so if you can't trust friends...wow...it sucks. I know there is always one bad apple in the bunch but this would definitely affect Bruce to have trust issues with friends as I know it would me.

19. long story there Dee-Mom of three n twins regarding Bruce Willis....we have problems

20. Original Kat - each story has two sides....yes, you heard about Bruce's complaints but have you heard the other side? Not always, and most usual, most complaints are over kill, not all true, and exaggerated to get the other side sweating....and in Hollywood, money talks louder than Justice (Michael Jackson, Simmson, etc.)....so I dont believe all I read.

21. Willis also says by nature of DiMattia's employment, he "acquired knowledge of certain highly personal, private and confidential information" about Willis.

Hmmm... very interesting. Wonder if it has anything to do with Aaron and/or Nick Carter?

Harvey, I'm sure you know what I'm talking about.

Why not bust this one straight... out of the closet?

All roads on this lead back to the boy bander siblings.

23. Hey Bruce...
several people I know who have worked with you say that you are a nasty
person...one friend a stuntman was waiting at the elevator at the end of the day and politely asked you to sign a picture for his girlfriend..you said NO..then he said he knew a friend of yours ,,you still said NO..you said have him call you and then you'd send him a pic...(ditto..you did) Bruce..why the hassle? you say you had it tough..let them have it tough..come on ..you came to Hollywood and got on a hit tv show in your 20's..how tough is that?..if a childhood friend would do this..maybe
you are a nasty guy..I've never met you and don't know that I care too....even Mr Duncan on the set was afraid to talk to you...remember? . Bruce...say it ain't so.......

25. I have had the honor of meeting Bruce a couple of times. Each and EVERY time I found Mr. Willis to be EXTREMELY KIND, and Humble! No kidding! I saw how he interacted with his fans and he was/is very gracious. I am sure it was devastating to be betrayed by an old friend. I know I would be. I am surprised that more celebrities just don't hide in their houses and only come out for premieres. God Bless Bruce and his family during this most difficult time.

26. I have met Bruce Willis at a blackjack table in Vegas years ago. Really a nice guy.... easy to talk to.... friendly, but not overly. Just a nice person. I feel bad that he trusted a so called childhood friend with personal items. I wouldn't trust anyone with anything that might be detrimental to me at a later date when that person decided to just "turn greedy". Sorry, Bruce. You just don't deserve this kind of crap

27. Bruce,
Go and do the Cha Cha.

28. NO ONE and I mean NO ONE placed into that position or one almost identical to it is immune to the "sudden and seamingly foolproof reasons to pull this on Mr. Willis. Or, whoever the "superstar" would be. The amount of money Mr.
Willis has made, and will make, creates an earthquake in 99.99% of anyones mind that they can easily get their boss (Willis) to pay rather than call the police. As a former police officer I never ran into this particular issue, but I sure ran into GREED, GREED, GREED, over and over again. The crimes committed because of greed wrapped in the cloak of a "safety net" is endless.
PEOPLE ARE ALL THE SAME, N.Y. OR C.A., IT DOES NOT MATTER.
MR. WILLIS SHOULD HAVE TAKEN 100% RESPONSIBILITY FOR ANY PICTURES, FILM, C.D'S, D.V.D'S, HIMSELF. BY ASSIGNING SOMEONE ELSE TO WORK WITH THEM, HE EVER SO MINUTELY OPENED THE DOOR FOR THIS EVENT TO HAPPEN.

FRIEND, CHILDHOOD OR OTHERWISE, MAKES LITTLE OR NO DIFFERENCE BECAUSE THE SEEDS FOR CRIME/CRIMES LIKE THIS ARE ALREADY PLANTED INSIDE THE INDIVIDUALS YOU HAVE TO CHOOSE FROM TO WORK FOR YOU.
I WOULD IMAGINE THAT IF THIS FRIEND WERE PLANTED IN A CLOSED ROOM, NOT IN A POLICE STATION, NOT BUSINESS LIKE, CASUAL, ETC, AND FACE TO FACE WITH MR. WILLIS, HE WOULD GLADLY BACK OUT OF HIS DEMANDS, JUST TO GET OUT OF THE WHOLE THING. I'LL BET, HE IS FRIGHTENED NEARLY TO MADNESS. GIVEN A CHANCE DURING MY FOUR YEAR POLICE CAREER, I FOUND THIS IDEA MODIFIED TO THE SITUATION WORKED MOST OF THE TIME.

I HOPE THAT MR. WILLIS IS ABLE TO RESOLVE THIS MESS SOON, NO ONE NEEDS EVENTS LIKE THIS IN THEIR LIFE. AS A DISABLED 66 YEAR OLD MALE, IWOULD BE TURNED INTO A PERSON NEARLY UNABLE TO PROCEDE NORMALLY IF THIS WERE TO HAPPEN TO ME.

TAKE CARE MR. WILLIS, YOUR KINDNESS CLEARLY SHOWS WHEN YOU GIVE AN OLD FRIEND A JOB WHICH YOU PROBABLY DID ONLY TO HELP THIS INDIVIDUAL OUT, NOT BECAUSE YOU NEEDED A POSITION FILLED. HE PROBABLY LEARNED AFTER TIME THAT HE FELT HE WAS BEING "TAKEN CARE OF" AND BECAME ANGRY AT HIMSELF. THAT IS THE ROOT OF THE PROBLEM HE IS ANGRY,AT HIMSELF.

WELL, AS A SIDE BAR, I CANNOT THINK OF A MOVIE OF YOURS THAT I HAVE WATCHED ON TELEVISION OR D.V.D., (NETFLIX), ETC THAT I DID NOT LIKE. YOUR ROLLS AND YOUR POWERFUL PRESENCE WHEN YOU MAKE YOUR PART COME TO LIFE ARE PURE GOLD.

YOU ARE TRULY A PROFESSIONAL.
