Hasselbeck Gets Hot -- and a Hug From Babwa

Token "View" conservative Elisabeth Hasselbeck doesn't hide her emotions when it comes to the controversy surrounding the morning-after pill.

A heated discussion about the subject erupted on Wednesday's show when Barbara Walters brought up that the controversial morning-after pill was being considered for approval for over-the-counter distribution by the FDA. Hasselbeck became visibly upset while arguing the topic and was scolded by Walters for being overly emotional. The agitated Elisabeth proceeded to tear up her cards as the show went to a commercial break.

When the show returned from the break, Elisabeth was being soothed by a motherly Walters as they sat in each other's laps. Barbara told Elisabeth that she respected her opinions and Elisabeth responded that she respected Barbara' s opinion as well--and that she loved being on the show. They then hugged and kissed.

While the display was slightly disturbing--to say the least--we're just happy this sort of mothering wasn't around when Star was on the show.

It should not be considered a birth control method, it should be given to women who have been raped!

6. I think Elisabeth had a very strong opinion on the subject and it is her job to speak her opionion on the show, right? I completely disagree with her views, but I'm glad she's passionate about them. I'm not one of those ignornat people that refuses to listen too or make irrational comments about people with different views. I don't get you people that become so hateful at someone just because they don't think like you. You need one way tickets to Stepford town.....

7. She's such an idiot. She freaks out about women breastfeeding and now she freaks out about a pill that prevents pregnancy. She's a reality show person and why she's on TV I'll never understand.

9. Hitler was less strident than she is. I'm so tired of her moralistic uptight ass I want to scream. There is never a gray area with this girl. She's obviously been sheltered from the world and has no idea what's really going on, because her utopian mind rejects reality. When your views are this rigid and unyielding, and you make them public, you're headed for a huge fall. See: Gibson, Mel.

10. Elizabeth offers balance to the show sometimes, but she lacks a lot of information to back up her opinions.
For the record: The morning-after pill will prevent or delay the release of an egg from the ovary if given prior to ovulation, or it will help prevent the egg from traveling down the fallopian tubes and implanting in the uterus if you have already ovulated. The morning-after pill reduces the chance of getting pregnant; it does NOT cause an abortion.

11. ECJ is 100% right, she is a moron. Open your eyes & do not mistake her loud and by-the-way incoherent delivery for 'passion'. She speaks as a typical, upper class, white woman who has never been in had to make difficult decisions, aka deciging whether to give birth to a rapist's child or to terminate the pregnancy.

12. I don't think elizabeth is a compliment to the show. She is very aggressive and argumentative all of the time and should be replaced. Lisa Loeb was a welcome addition although they did not give her a chance to speak

15. I'm just anxious to see if Elisabeth will be back on the show tomorrow. Barbara was very loving and even gave Star a standing ovation, right before she kicked her off the show. I'd miss Elisabeth if she wasn't on the show - since she seems to be the only one who stands up for Christian morals, I'm not sure if there'd be any different views on the show, if not for Elisabeth.
