Hasselbeck Gets Hot -- and a Hug From Babwa

Token "View" conservative Elisabeth Hasselbeck doesn't hide her emotions when it comes to the controversy surrounding the morning-after pill.

A heated discussion about the subject erupted on Wednesday's show when Barbara Walters brought up that the controversial morning-after pill was being considered for approval for over-the-counter distribution by the FDA. Hasselbeck became visibly upset while arguing the topic and was scolded by Walters for being overly emotional. The agitated Elisabeth proceeded to tear up her cards as the show went to a commercial break.

When the show returned from the break, Elisabeth was being soothed by a motherly Walters as they sat in each other's laps. Barbara told Elisabeth that she respected her opinions and Elisabeth responded that she respected Barbara' s opinion as well--and that she loved being on the show. They then hugged and kissed.

While the display was slightly disturbing--to say the least--we're just happy this sort of mothering wasn't around when Star was on the show.

46. its funny how all the liberal open minded people are so close minded when it comes to anyone elses ideas. God bless Elizabeth. Its great to have a contrast to the rest of the lefties on the show.

47. I saw the show this morning and, while I absolutely admire passion in a person, Elisabeth went too far in not letting anyone speak. It was starting to feel like a speech...

48. I guess the View doesn't want Elisabeth's opinions. Send her packing with Star.

49. Thie whole controversy is stupid. If they ban the pill people will be desperate and try to get it any where they can....HELLO! Remember when they banned abortions and people just had them illegally? and ended up getting like HEP B and all that stuff? People are always going to have sex and take the pill. What's the point of banning them? I bet more people with be killed, hurt or poisoned by "imataion" Plan B pills that people will make in their garage. Think of the after math. STUPID!!!

50. I saw the show this morning and, while I absolutely admire passion in a person, Elisabeth went too far in that she wouldn't let anyone speak. And the idea of comparing using the morning after pill to thowing a baby out into street is ludicrous. I honestly think Elisabeth means well but is so limited in life experiences that she is very unrealistic.

51. Hey Ella-

The notion that a fertilized egg is a human is not a fact. It is, frankly, an idea placed into the world in order to get people to think of abortion as murder- and thus to vote Republican.

Before Ralph Reed noticed that evangelical Christians were a viable voting block which could be controlled through misinformation, no one suggested that life begins when an egg is fertilized.

If a fertilized egg WAS a baby, than every couple who has in vitro fertilisation (IVF) in order to conceive is as much a murderer as you think some poor knocked up teenager is. Because that process fertilizes dozens of eggs and discards all but one.

But since that doesn't involve punishing women for having sex, the religious right is not interested in that. Why not, Ella? After all, it's been going on since 1978. Think of all those murdered children.

52. You have to respect Elizabeth for standing up for her views... especially with that panel of atheist, "lets just use abortion for birth control". Wait til that lez-cow shows up... she's going to be flaunting her gay cruise and everything anti-conventional parenting. I don't know how E stays on a show like that to begin with!! And to have to debate with that relic Babs, she's not a wimp at all! You go girl!!

53. I think Hasselbeck makes the view very difficult to watch. It is ok to have strong opinions about certain issues but you need to be able to control yourself and not flip out on your fellow hosts and guest hosts. It seems that only her opinion is right and everyone else is wrong. When I watched the show this morning and I heard the morning-after pill mentioned I knew she was going to completely flip out. Personally I think she makes the show, as well as the people watching it, awkward and uncomfortable. If she will not calm down she should be replaced.

55. Blah, blah, blah, this chick is a total bimbo. All women have the right to choose what is best for them. If they want to take the morning after pill what the hell is wrong with that? What if they were brutally raped for pete's sake?

56. This wacko should put her money were her mouth is. Would she raise all the children all over the country woman have had who wanted to take that pill? Hell no! So think before you rant on and on like a rabid dog Hasselbeck.

57. Elisabeth, Elisabeth can someone please tell me why she's on the show or on televison at all. She has the personality of a gnat? She is so annoying. She absolutely does not deal in reality. It is so extremely difficult to see her as human, what a dweeb. She should pay attention to the backlash that Kathi Lee received for putting on a front as if her life were perfect. People are so tired of her with her uptight super duper conservative self. She is the main reason that I don't watch the view. Again why is she on the show?

58. I'M SO SICK OF UPTIGHT SELF RIGHTEOUS HASSLEEWHOEVER AND ALL CONSERVATIVES SAYING THAT AN UNBORNS LIFE IS SO VALUABLE...IF THEY REALLY THINK THAT THEN WHY DON'T THEY SPEND ALL THAT "PASSION" AND DO SOMETHING FOR ALL THE UNWANTED CHILDREN WHO WERE BROUGHT IN TO THIS WORLD AND LEFT BY MOTHERS AND SOCIETY WHO ABANDONED THEM??!!

59. I'm surprised no one mention what is going to happen when Rosie O is on the show come September. If Elisabeth gets that emotional with Barbara, who by the way was very claim thru it all, what in Gods name is she going to do with Rosie!!! I can't see those two getting along at all! I'm afraid Elisabeth will quit. I sure hope she gets it together cause with her & Rosie it will be good TV! This one is for Linda who commented earlier. If you call this Christian to be so one sided & closed minded then I want no part of Christianity!

Linda Too

60. I am soo sick of Elisabeth. Whenever they talk about something she disagrees about she goes overboard. You can believe in whatever you want, just don't preach it around to the rest of us. She is so close minded. Can someone please shut her up already. Plus, can the girl take a bit during a food segment, its rude.
