31. Mel Gibson has taken responsabilty for his action and has not try to denied what happen. He has apologized for what he did. He did not molest a child or kill anyone or bomb the trade center. etc. He got pulled over for speeding and DUI. Hello people this is not a first time someone got pulled over for something like this. The media likes to build a story up for more than what it is really is. There are more horrible things happen in the world today then focusing on something like this petty stuff. We should be more focus on keeping child molesters in prison and keeping our children safe instead of letting them out and them repeating. But "WE" (not me) wants to see Mel Gibson pay for what he did. He is not asking for us to sweep it under the carpet. t. There is no need to crucify him. Bless you all.

32. Re: #11
This is what pisses me off!
It's going to take how long for the DA to file charges????
This shows how F'd up LAPD and their band of DA's are.
If it was someone you knew that had been arrested for a DUI, they would've been in jail and sentenced already. It's sad how these people take advantage over normal people. It
************************************************

I disagree. Mel is facing a possible felony charge of resisting arrest. It's up to the DA to decide whether or not to charge him.

The longer the DA takes to make this decision, the more time there is for Mel to squirm. In the meantime, he might donate money, or turn over a greater percentage of his future profits to the studios. Who knows.

He's at their mercy.

36. I am a Jew and I really don't care what Mel Gibson thinks of me or other Jews. At least he is honest about his feelings about us. I have more respect for him saying what he does, than for closet Anti-Semites who say "Some of me best friends are Jews". I use to love his movies, but after I found out about his feelings for me, I choose not to pay money to see his movies that put $$$ in his pocket. He has his rights to say what he feels, just like all the other bigots in the world have. I am just glad I will not have to see a Mini Series on the Holocaust from a Nazi point of view. Just remember his families feelings about the Holocaust that never happened, it was just Jewish propaganda !!!!!!!

37. Good for MEl! He should be able to speak his mind. This is a free country!!!!!!! So what if Barbara Walters will not go see his new movies, there are plenty of Christians who will!

39. Enough already!!!!!!! There are more important things going on in this world at the moment. Luv ya Mel - these old busybuddies just cannot stand it that you went against them with Passion and made bucko bucks in the process. No more apologizing to the public is needed. Those with narrow minds can boycott his movies - fine stay away - but I for one will make it a point to see them. Drunks generally say things they do not mean - who knows what kind of day he had to get drunk to begin with - maybe he had a row with his dad that would explain the anti-semetic remarks. Oh the LA DA filed charges last night. AND TERRY- the war crimes being committed in the ME is by Hezbollah according to the Geneva Convention - google Geneva Convention - also read "EYE TO EYE" by Walter Koenig.

40. Actually Mel is wrong on one count - - - there is not a day that goes by where there is no Arab conflict.

41. Does anyone care that Mel could have killed a baby, a grandmother, a friend? Dr. Phil says not to persecute Mel in the news and what he did is not so bad, yet on Dr. Phil's program, he tells drunk drivers they should not be on the same road as his children. Drunks should be severely dealt with and should lose their priviledge to drive. This is Mel's 3 time, at least. Who knows how many cover ups there were in the past????

42. The most stupid defensive reaction to Mel's rant goes something like this--he has a right to speak his mind, this is a free country, blah blah blah. So, does this mean that others have no right to express their beliefs that what Mel said is wrong, hateful, and destructive? Some of Mel's fans have funny ideas of what free speech truly is. In fact, they have no idea of what it means. It DOES NOT mean that he can go off as much as he likes, without being held accountable--unless Mel is God himself, which seems to be the feeling that some on this board have...

43. I think everyone in Hollywood is so beyond hipocritical! They have no problem making movies that offend Christians, such as The Last Temptation of Christ, and Jesus Christ Superstar. Then they go further with a blasphemous picture of Kanye West with a crown of thorns on the cover of Rolling Stone. Give me a break!

44. Ok, as a Jewish woman I take terrible offense to the anti-sametic statments. You know when Passion of the Christ came out I actually paid to go see it. I can almost be certain that all Mel Gibson will get is a slap on the wrist with this DUI charge. But if it were me driving, I can almost be certain that I would be doing jail time. WHAT IS WRONG WITH OUR SYSTEM? I think Mel Gibson really needs to get his act together. I USED to be a Mel Gibson fan, but I will never see another one of his movies again.

45. justK - it depends on the laws of the state. Some states have open record laws. That is to say, offense and arrest reports are matters of public record and, with a few exceptions, cannot be withheld from a party that requests them.
This is a simple DUI and would not fall under the exceptions (most concern the release of names of juveniles, sexual battery victims, drug suspects, organized crime, etc). Therefore, the moment the officer completed the report and filed it, any interested party could request a copy (some do charge fees, however, for the cost of pulling the report and making copies).
You can bet the moment some newsies heard that Mel was arrested, they were camping out at Records waiting for the officer to file. Depending upon the laws, even the videotapes from the car and the supervisor's camera could be copied and released.
