48. I feel that a lot is being made of this. However I do beleive that when one becomes such aleading world personality he has responsabilities. And those are that his behaviour and public displays are better mannered.
I am no particular fan of his but I as an Aussie feel that he has behaved badly and represented us in a bad light.
I have a brother who has been an AA for 20 years plus I know how hard it is.
I also believe that the true thoughts of a person are spoken when drunk.
Forget the fact that he was antisemetic for a moment was it right to speak to a cop the way he did some example tha was.
I'm sure if some one attacked him he would be the first one to call for help from the same cops he abused.

58. The only people that truly care and are offended by Mel Gibson's comments, against the Jewish, are the intelligent people. As you can see by the response of most of your readers there isn't too many intellingent people in this world. 59. I think the Police Department needs to keep their mouths shut. Mel needs to file a lawsuit for invasion of privacy. He was singled out because he is famous. I totally respect the Jewish Community but they didn't need the hurt. This compares to a spouse feeling guilty for cheating and telling their partner. Keep your mouth shut and stop the pain. Mel was drunk and arrested for that. People who get drunk get stupid. I have done my share of being silly. I'm a giggler after 1/2 of a cosmopolitan. The Jewish community is at the top of the chart in the accomplishments. They are a group to be admired with the pain and hearbreak of the holocost. The officers that arrested Mel wanted notariety. They knew he would suffer embarrassment and they would be in thelimelight for gossiping.We pay them to serve and protect not gossip. Our protectors have become crookedand get paid to play God. I want the officers to be suspended and written up for there actions. I bet if you checked into their backgrounds they are drunks, abusers, womaizers and just plain smut. Mel was drunk and he shows our children that we pay for our actions. They act as though drinking was a small part of his actions. He will pay just like anyone else. Get out of their business. We do not own them!!! I'm sick of people trying to ruin their lives because of envy. They are commiting the same sin as HITLER. He was envious that the Jewish Community was up above all others. His envy turned to hate and look what happened. Jews don't need anyone to protect them. We need all others to learn from their hard work, determination and love for family and life. When they love you it's for life. Mel will pay because he's a good man. He made a mistake and he has apologized. He's not God so let him make a mistake and learn. Are you all going to fill Hitler' shoes and ruin him for the sake of being envious? Last time I checked alcoholism was a disease. He was arrested for being drunk. If he was sober then I would say its bad. Being drunk makes you unable to think or move properly. Leave it up to the judge! I think a lot of people are calling the kettle black.

60. Part of the responsibilty of Mr. Gibson being allowed to leave an establishment completely intoxicated and then drive in his this state must be placed on the establishment ~ Moonshadow's. There is a responsibility that goes along with obtaining a liquor license and its not just taking the customer's money! Cutting a customer off that is obviously intoxicated is part of the job of bartending. The manager, bartender, waitress, valet, fans, and other patrons, (etc.) all could have displayed a moral obligation based on safety, compassion, responsibility, and common sense and offered Mr. Gibson a cup of coffee and called him a taxi and insisted that he not drive for his own safety and the safety of others. It doesn't take a rocket scientist!
