48. Actually, Steph, we're pissed off about priests molesting little boys. THAT'S why we're scapegoating Mel Gibson. (I'm kidding, but I hope you get my point that your argument is way off-base.)

49. As a Jew I am appalled that the establishment Jewish community would be so quick to accept the facile apology of Mel Gibson. Of course the man is anti Semitic.! He was innebriated and therefore his defences were down. He said what he would be able to withold when sober. Gibson should be held accountable. Instead of being fired from the CBS Holocaust movie he should stay in the cast and give his earnings to an organization that promotes tolerance.LIp service is all very well Mr.Gibson, but how about volunteering to speak in schools around the country campaining against any form of hate speech? Ater all,you have had plenty of personal experience.

51. Silly Jews...After reading today's threads on this site, it's obvious that a lot of people are in tune with your tactics. Remember, what comes around goes around.

52. Well kudos to you Harvey!! You not only made the public aware of Mel's DUI, but you "broke the story" which made us aware of all the "uglies" that surrounded his arrest. Wow. The arrest just wasn't enough for you, I guess. You're probably getting alto of pats on the back, a lot of attaboys, and I bet you're really strut tin'. Isn't there some award for best "reporter" or something? I bet you'll get it. Oh! Can't forget your appearance on Court TV. Boy! were you pissed. Why?
Anyway, what I want to know is -- I'm sure Mel is as embarrassed as you have made him feel. He's certainly not hurting for money, and for crimony sakes, is he the first celebrity to have been arrested on a DUI -- or even worse?? Is your head so big, Harvey, that you couldn't stop from trying to ruin somebody's life? Now THAT'S ugly, Harvey.

53. Can someone explain to me why Mel didn't get a ticket for speeding? They clocked him going 40 mph over the speed limit and he gets no ticket for that. I just heard, that in California, if you get a DUI and are going more than 20 mph over the speed limit, you get a mandatory 2 months in jail. I guess they will not be able to enforce this punishment since no speeding ticket was issued. Wasn't that the reason they pulled him over for in the first place? Great job, sheriff department!

54. Well it seems to me people want to make Mel serve six months in jail not for DUI but for saying mean things abouts jews. Get a grip people he wasnt arrested for stupid insults he was busted for DUI..and he shouldnt be punished for anything else but that.

How many times must he apologize for insulting jews? he said it and asked for the Jewish community to forgive him and even help him and now they are kicking the man when he has come to them for help.

Didnt God say turn the other cheek....

56. I think the Jewish community needs to get over themselves and take a look in the mirror when it comes to bigotry and racism. Look at how they treat the countries and people that border Israel. Like dirt. I know, I've seen it first hand. You are hippocrates. Mel Gibson's opinions, inebriated or not, are his own opinions. We are in America where freedom of speech hasn't been taken away from us...yet. I'm not a racist or a bigot, but I gotta tell ya, I'm sick of the Middle East and all of their religious and sectarian crap wars. Peace isn't that difficult nor is forgiveness.

57. Why should a Hollywood star get preferential treatment? Anyone else would get the max; He could easily have killed someone and the whole idea of punishment is to drive home (pun intended) that message. Wynona Rider got punished, and her career suffered, and so should his. He is nothing but an arrogant bigot, and there needs to be a deterrent punishment, otherwise others will think they can get away wityh such despicable and selfish behaviour. He is scum in my book.

58. If the phrase: Middle East Peace Process isn't the biggest oxymoron ever, what is? They've all been fighting over there for thousands of years. I'm F---EN sick of it! KILL EM ALL AND LET GOD SORT EM OUT! That would solve 2 things: middle east peace and high gas prices. Amen!

60. Did anybody read the ad that Merv Adelson took out condemning Mel? This from a man who pretty recently was arrested in Aspen for driving under the influence of alcohol and prescription medication with his small adopted daughter in the car? Those who live in glass houses...blah blah blah. If anybody should understand what alcohol does to a person's senses, somebody who has been in those handcuffs should. Was he thinking clearly when he put that child in the car and drove her into town? How does he explain that?
