87. How many of you have heard your spouse say someone else's name while in their sleep (subconcsious), or heard someone say something so stupid/crazy while under anesthesia? How about when a woman is menstruating? They are crazy animales when their hormones are raging out of control. They don't really mean what they say, but someone their subconscious is in control. We don't hold people responsible for actions, or words, or behaviors while under this mental state. There is nothing wrong with him disliking Jews. Who here can honestly say that there is not one type of person that they dislike? Mexicans are taking over California, Tiger Woods should eat Kentucky Fried Chicken, Arabs should stop riding their camels, Gays are the only ones who pass the aids virus, need I say more? These comments don't denote hatred, but rather ignorance to some level or an agitation against a group. Mel isn't going to bomb any temples because of his views. And he should not donate any moeny either. He is entiltled to his views, he should stop apologizing, and move on. Where were the jews when they told Tiger Woods to eat fried chicken, or when they try to oppress the mexicans b/c they are robbing the US of its employment opportunities, or hell, how about some compassion for the Armenians who suffered a similar halocaust? Nope, unless you are jew, they don't give a damn.

88. think there is too much made of this. First, the word "jew" does not denote something vile, as with the "N" word. It is no differnent than someone calling me a mexican girl. I think some people get into this overlysensitve balloon wherein only their views, standards, and morals exist. Sorry the world is not that way. Mel said things that while being sober, he simply would not have said them or thought of them. How many of you have heard stories of you/spouse mentioning another persons name while they are asleep Is it reasonable to punish them and grill them over it since it was subconscious? It's not his/her fault that something came out when it was not their conscious mind. Same thing happens when one is under anathesia. They may say silly, harmful, or ignorant comments, but how can they be held responsible when that is a part of the mind that we cannot control. How would you even know you said something because your are not going to remember. How many of you have been around menstruating women (TMI) that behave like wild animals because of the hormonal changes they are going through? I, myself, am gulity of some very vulgar words and mean spirited emotions. This is a time that my looks could literally kill someone. During the remainder of the time, I am sweet, always smiling, cheerful, helpful, sincere, compassionate, and happy go lucky. I would be mortifed if anyone saw me in this condition. But women understand what we experience, and even my husband carefully drops in a box of chocolate before entering the house to see if everything is ok. Basically, alchol is not the excuse for his comments, but rather a temporary loss of his normal capacities to think and speak coherently. He is entitled to have beliefs about Jews, Mexicans, Blacks, and any other color, etc. Neither the govt nor the public can dictate what goes through ones mind and try to play judge & jury over someone's thoughts.
I did not see Jews up in arms when Tiger Woods was insulted over the "fried chicken" incident, nor when mexicans were devalued and demoralized for simply having brown skin, or especially in showing compassion & solidarity for the Armenians and their families that were involved in the Armenian Holocaust.
Maybe it is just me who is disallusioned by thinking that we live in a society that will not tolerate unjustice, bigotry, or hatred towards human beings. I would not walk by if a black person lay dying on the ground, I would run to his aid. I feel that jewish people will stand strong to protect thier own interests only. It is curious to note that some Jewish leaders have already mentioned that monetary donations by Gibson woud help in taking him more serious and evidencing his remorse and repent. "How convenient", money seems to make a lot of people forget and move on. There is no need to compensate and shame on them for even suggesting.
I feel bad that Mel Gibson said these things, but we don't know his side of the story and other factors that led up to him expressing himself in that manner.
I stand behind you Mel Gibson and I know that you will recover.

89. Dang it! When Gibson came out with the movie, it offended many powers that be, in the business. They went after his Father, and Mel.
For Crying Out Loud, he has never said he didn't have a drinking problem.

Give it a break! He has been a good Husband and Father.

I am sick of hearing about this. I will still see his movies, and I think he is still a great Guy.
You are suppose to be innocent until proven guilty. He was drunk!
