Young Model Killed in Horrific Accident

Heather BrattonHeather Bratton was a rising star on the modeling scene.

With just one year of modeling under her belt, Bratton had already landed the cover of Italian Vogue and walked the runways of fashion powerhouses like Gucci and Prada.

But that all came to a tragic end in a fiery crash on July 22.

The 19-year-old was en route to Newark Airport when the hired car she was a passenger in broke down in the center lane of the New Jersey Turnpike.

Bratton's car was rear-ended by an SUV and then struck another vehicle. The car caught on fire and Bratton was trapped inside. She was pronounced dead at the scene.

Bratton's agency, Women Management, released a statement saying, "Heather was a sweet, gentle and thoughtful girl who achieved a remarkable level of success during her first year modeling, which is a credit to her distinct beauty and spirit."

17. I feel so horrible for her and her family! That is an absolutely horrendous way to die! And yes, i also feel bad for the people in Israel and Lebanon who are dying, all we are saying is that this is a horrible way to die. i just pray she wasnt conscious......

18. Get over it, people! Your misplaced, phony compassion is nauseating. How about feeling for people that are alive and going through hell? Riiight: death is a prerequisite for people to start caring.
Oh, wait. There is nothing also glamourous about Joe Smuck who's not on the cover of some magazine... really, nothing inspires more than the death of a beautiful woman. A week ago --if you had seen a different headline attached to this girl's picture-- most of you would have said she wasn't "like, even pretty!" Or something similar.
You know?
Yeah. You know.
OK, phonies, time to lash out at some of the living! Smelling any fresh blood in the water yet?
Go ahead; have at it!

20. Any death is sad but this death may seem more tragic because the person died so young and had a seemingly rich and full life ahead of her. Why would anybody want to demean or degrade the death is beyond me. Rest in peace Heather.

21. Oy Vey There are insensitive jerks all over the world and today you win the prize. The compassion is for the family. Nobody deserves to lose a child in such a terrible manner. My family was totally destroyed by my sisters death. I hope your parents will never have to face it but seeing how '' CHARMING'' you are, maybe they have nothing to do with you already.

24. Belynda--
"We're both part of the same hypocrisy", however you shouldn't take gratuitous shots at another person's family.
But, maybe, in your family YOU do know what to do when it gets too hot. Your sis had the right idea. Get out of the kitchen! Just don't take five weeks. Be inspired, B!

25. May she rest in peace and God be with her family at this time.

26. oy vey! God looks at our hearts everyday and for these comments to come from you in this way, especially talking about an 11 yr old child who lost her life, I would fear that want goes around comes around. I pray that nothing happens to one of your family members, so that you may experience the pain that you are so lacking for your fellow sister or brother in God. GOD HAS BLESSED US WITH A HEART!!
USE IT TO BE COMPASSIONATE AND UNDERSTANDING TOWARDS OTHERS AS YOU MAY NEED SOMEONE TO BE COMPASSIONATE AND UNDERSTANDING TO YOU!!!

THANK YOU AND MAY GOD BLESS YOU AND YOUR FAMILY.

28. "Oy Vey" needs attention!!! Hey "Oy Vey!" Do ya need attention???? Did you get ignored as a child?? It's allright.......there there......

Posted at 6:21PM on Aug 2nd 2006 by Holly

29. Oy Vey,
Your remarks are shocking. Are you doing this for shock value or are you really cold hearted and cynical? I agree that the deaths of Lebanese children, or Israeli or Iraqi or Rwandan or any child that's died in a war zone is horrific, but the death of a young model at 19 is equally horrific in the capacity of the death and to the family. This is an entertainment site and such stories will be reported. Perhaps you can go to CNN or Fox or Al-Jazeera and comment there about man's inhumanity to man. We are all well aware of it. Why do you think we come to this site to escape it?
