Gibson Says "All My Friends Are Cops"

Mel Gibson: Click to watchTMZ has turned up video shot by "EXTRA" of video of Mel Gibson with Los Angeles County Sheriff Lee Baca, shot in June, 2002, where actor talks about his close relationship with the Sheriff's Department.

Gibson served as spokesman at an event for LASSO (Los Angeles Sheriff's Star Organization), a foundation that gives scholarships to the children of fallen deputies. At one point, Gibson said: "I was late in coming here today and I think I almost got a ticket."

Gibson was praised by the Sheriff as "a wonderful man." During an interview, Gibson talked about how one particular deputy would come by his home every few weeks. "Officer Friendly pops around and just checks to see how things are..." Gibson said. He continues: "He just has a cup of coffee for ten minutes and hits the road."

Gibson said "All my friends are cops...I get on with them."

When you write a movie that shows them responsible for having Christ

198. Why is it news if anyone says something anti-black or anti-semitic, yet night after night every show on tv portrays christians as kooks and fodder for jokes. Get over it. Mel was drunk, drunks say stupid things. We didn't elect him to office...he is an actor, not an ambassador....who cares!

199. People who know Mr. Gibson says he gets belligerent when he drinks. It
should have just been ignored and never brought out in public. I had
something said to me once (and I am Caucasian) and I just told the
person, " you have a problem, I feel sorry for you" and walked away.
This should have just been ignored since he had been drinking.
I like Mr. Gibson and best wishes to him and I hope he kicks his alcohol
problem.

202. All I can is that we all make mistakes. A celebrity's mistake is broadcasted. He made two mistakes, driving while drunk and saying stupid things about a race. No one can raise their hands and say that privately they haven't said stuping things about other races. Let the man heal. Sometimes God works in mysterious ways. Maybe Mr. Gibson needed to fall that low in order to heal.

203. I have enjoyed reading all of the comments about Mel Gibson. He is a handsome man who can really act! What he has done in his private life has not yet affected any one of the commenters. I feel bad for the people who have such anger. There must be something else in their lives that allow such venom.

209. Get over it! Where were the Catholics when Madonna and Guy dressed up like the Pope and Mother Theresa for HALLOWEEN! They were not drunk driving that was a sober decision. Actions speak louder than words and Every Catholic ( of every nationality) across the world didn't get together and destroy her career. She didn't have to apologize for her and her family's actions! He has apologized enough! Forgive and forget or your worse than he could ever be!
