Gibson Says "All My Friends Are Cops"

Mel Gibson: Click to watchTMZ has turned up video shot by "EXTRA" of video of Mel Gibson with Los Angeles County Sheriff Lee Baca, shot in June, 2002, where actor talks about his close relationship with the Sheriff's Department.

Gibson served as spokesman at an event for LASSO (Los Angeles Sheriff's Star Organization), a foundation that gives scholarships to the children of fallen deputies. At one point, Gibson said: "I was late in coming here today and I think I almost got a ticket."

Gibson was praised by the Sheriff as "a wonderful man." During an interview, Gibson talked about how one particular deputy would come by his home every few weeks. "Officer Friendly pops around and just checks to see how things are..." Gibson said. He continues: "He just has a cup of coffee for ten minutes and hits the road."

Gibson said "All my friends are cops...I get on with them."

19. I'm sorry but hasn't everyone made mistakes in their lives? In fact, for those who believe in Jesus and/or his moral teachings, I believe he said "He who has not sinned shall cast the first stone". I'm sorry, but for those who judge Mel on this matter, you need to look at yourself and ask yourself whether or not you would want something like this smearing your name for the rest of your life. In fact, why don't you all get over it and deal with your own problems.

Jennifer Mel sinned in the eyes of the suits in Hollywood...Most moguls in Hollywood are Jewish (nothing bad here) He made a movie they turned down and when it looked like it was going to be a hit they screamed "anti-Jewish" Mel made millions while they looked on without filling their wallets thats his crime and they will do everything in their power not to have ablockbuster like that again. I don't see the Italians boycotting "soprano"

26. I agree with response number two. It doesn't diminish his work and the person he is. So he got drunk and was picked up for DUI. He said some things he is sorry for and he admitted he has a problem and will get help.Let the man alone. I think a lot of people just love to see celebreties get in trouble and that mystifies me.

29. I am so over America always making such a big deal when a "STAR" Makes a very human mistake. I will continue to watch Mel's movies because he is fabulous and a human!

30. What Gibson said was unforgivable. However, change the word to Catholic from Jew and there wouldn't even be a ripple in the news. Think about it.
