Jessica Runs For Cover

Jessica Simpson is her own one woman cover band. And by the looks of her career, her breasts may be the only original thing about her.

One of Simpson's first singles was "I Think I'm in Love With You" which featured a sample of John Mellencamp's 1982 hit "Jack and Diane."

In 2004, the former "Newlyweds" star covered Berlin's Oscar winning song "Take My Breath Away" on a special edition of her album "In This Skin." That same album also featured a cover of Robbie Williams' song "Angels."

The following year Simpson recorded "These Boots Are Made For Walkin',"a cover of Nancy Sinatra's 60s hit, for the big screen remake of the TV series "Dukes of Hazzard." Sensing a pattern here?

Jessica's latest single "A Public Affair," although not a cover, sounds suspiciously similar to Madonna's 80s hit 'Holiday." Regarding the comparisons, Simpson said "It wasn't a sample or something I meant to do, but she did influence me and still does today." Apparently so, Jess, apparently so.

In an interview with MTV.com last week, Simpson revealed her next single may be -- you guessed it -- another cover.

While La Simpson believes her rendition of Dead or Alive's 80s hit "You Spin Me Round (Like a Record)" isn't a cover and maintains "it's a sample, really," she does say "it reminds me of that "Waiting for Tonight" Jennifer Lopez track that everyone embraced." Two covers, er samples, in one ... sweet!

And since three times the charm, Simpson's new album "A Public Affair," out Aug. 29, features one more cover.

Jessica credited Patty Griffin's "Let Him Fly" with helping her through her breakup from ex-husband Nick Lachey and recorded a rendition of it to close out her album.

Simpson says the song "is about how sometimes you just have to know when to let something go." If only she were talking about recording covers!

Despite her penchant for mimicry and by the sounds of her previous albums, the only thing less exciting than a Jessica Simpson cover -- is a Jessica Simpson original.

31. Jessica Simpson is a clon since day one. She came out as a new Britney Spears and when I saw her fisrt video I was just so mad - it was so obvious that she wanted her cut at Britney's expense, I mean instead of creating something original they just copy what is already mega succesful.
As for her much praised looks, well, her face is pretty, she has photo - perfect features , period, even if there was some work done still it's pretty, because if you are not pretty by nature no surgery will make you pretty, But her body - I mean what's up with all that buzz around her body ?.. Just look at her super short and thick legs, in her first videos they can even hide it, her legs are very short. I am not saying they had to be Claudia Shiffer like, but at least avarage - to earn her a title of somewhat descent body. Ok, she's got boobs, OK, guys like boobs, but there is sad true about big boobs - they start sagging the moment you grow them - when you are 13-16 .

Her voice. She's got voice and very good voice, but what is she doing with it? Killing it, I mean when you listen to Public affair you get an impression that she has no voice at all. As for the song - it's not even about Holiday , it's just that song is so plain and so below avarege that it's not worth mentioning.

And - she does remakes succesful songs and it's very bad of her. Robbie Williams wrote his songs and they are great so if should be his fame, not hers. My fave is Way to Mondelay, bom-bom-bom[. Love it.

32. I really wish the radio stations wouldn't play Public Affair simply because it's Jessica Simpson's song. It really is the worst song I have ever heard. For God sakes Paris Hilton's single was 20 times better! She has no talent and I hope she fades soon!

33. Poor jessica such a daddy's girl, she let the best thing slip away from her (which was probably daddy's doing) I feel sorry for her she is a no talent has been. Nick has finally found a real woman who is not tied to daddy's strings. Her father should be ashamed of himself he is an ex preacher did you check out his earring he is a joke!!!! Nick is better off without her and her family.

34. Does anyone else realize that she's just making a remake of a remake??? Dixie Chick's covered this song years ago on their album "Fly". Their version was good but I bet Jessica's wil be all squealy and overdone like everything else she does. She just tries to hard and in return ruins everything she records. If I have to listen to one more of her crappy squealy dog whistle songs my eardrums will burst!!!

Jessica made Nick???? Where the f*&k have you been? Nick was the star when they married, she opened for his band. If is wasn't for their television show, we would not be participating in this stupid war of words.

I remember an interview they gave after the wedding, and Nick was saying how they went into debt for the wedding of his dreams. Then they had their hit tv show, etc. etc.............Because of her marriage to Nick, she now has mucho bucks.
Because of that alone, he WILL GET HALF. God knows, he deserves it.
And she better invest or save the rest, because based on her no talent whore image, she won't be making too much more. But, she can always sell some hair extensions/make up/knock off shoes....

Yeah, nick had a little fame before he got married to jessica but who the hell kept the money rolling in during the marriage??? HER. Nick is getting half of HER money....she's the one that was bringing in the money. GET IT??? The only reason we know as much about nick and jessica is because of the tv show. 44. The only damn reason it's an issue that there wasn't a prenup is because jessica has all the money. If she didn't...there would not be a fight over money. Remember when they were trying to figure out when they spit because Jessica had earned a few million dollars on a performance she did and Nick wanted to see if he gets that money. Nick is just a piece of shit trying to take whatever he can get his hands on because he knows he can't do anything good for himself. That's what I'm getting at, you moron.

If Jessica got her fame from marrying nick, why was nick so UNFAMOUS during their entire marriage. Even on the show nick was a nobody.
