Blowing Up While Going Down - 'Bridge' Hits #1

Fergie doesn't want to be known as just a chick Pea anymore, and having the #1 song on the Billboard charts might just be the way to do that.

Fergie Ferg's new single "London Bridge" achieved second biggest leap in Billboard Hot 100 history last week by going from #86 to #5, was featured on this week's episode of "Entourage" and is now the top single in the country.

Fergie told MTV.com "We wanted to make it more of a tough feel, which the song is."

If by "tough" she means "dancing like a ho," then it appears as though the Billboard charts are going to need prophylactics.

33. Well.....

I think the song is TERRIBLE!! I dont understand what the appeal is with Fergie, she's just a HOT CHICK! She is NOT talented in anyway. She has a trashy image and the only crediblity she has is fact that sh'e apart of Black eye Peas. Those guys are good artist/mucisins and I am disappointed that they felt they needed a "slutty" white girl in order to sell records. Black E Peas music used to be interesting, relevant, and socially aware, and now they have resorted to "booty-shaken", pointless rants with their favortie "hoe" singing on track.

Fergie is waste of time and acts like a real HOE! The song is Whack and she's had way too much plastic surgery. If you saw a picture of her from 15years ago, you wouldnt even beleive it was her.

34. Fergie is NOT a rapper so this song is NOT rap!!! She isnt ripping off gwen or anyone other singer. The song is great, i personally dont think its directed to young kids its more towards older teens and people in there 20's. Songs dont make young girls sluts, bad parents do. I love this song, but my music prefence has nothing to do w/ who im going to sleep with. Fergie is an independent, talented beautiful woman, how is that a bad example for girls??

37. Hilarious that anyone thinks anyone could be a Gwen Stefani ripoff when everything about Gwen is "borrowed" from Madonna! Talk about a lack of originality... And Bobby listens to country music because he's too weak to handle anything else; a poofta, nothing more! HE may as well go the emo route if he's going to burn his ears listening to country. Tight jeans and sex with your sister...good old country music, I tell ya!!!

39. I didn't like the song at first but its catchy. I think you guys need to lighten up. She's not trying to make a ground breaking record just something to make you dance. I think the song is silly but fun to listen to. Urban culture has dominated the U.S. and of course racists are upset about that. To the poster who said the nonsense about whites being black is stupid. "Urban" applies to "ALL" races nowadays. Its a lifestyle. Was it started by black people? Of course, but the reason Rap and R&B dominates the charts is because a lot of white like it as well as blacks. If you don't believe me just go to a rap concert. The audience is about 50% white! There are conservative whites and blacks (have white collar jobs, go to plays, listen to old school music), and there are urban whites and blacks (who listen to rap and wear baggy clothes etc.) So what? Btw I like this song a hell of a lot more than that song Hollarback girl song. That has to be the worst song that Gwen has ever done.

40. That song sounds exactlly like Gwen Stefani "Bananas" song...can she be more orignal?

41. Bobby,

You clearly don't know anything about the history of rap. I am a law school graduate (yes, I am a black woman) and I listen to rap (old school rap). It is only fairly recently that rap turned into what it is now. Rap did have a message to send- usually about racism or advocating for social change in impoverished neighborhoods. It was only in the 90's that rap became violent and began to include lyrics degrading women: so-called "gangsta rap."

Even today, many artists stick to to social messages that rap was created to express. One of those artists is Kanye West. Have you ever heard "Never Let You Down?" Tell me there is no social message in that song, or even in the song "Through the Wire," a song about achieving in the face of adversity. Have you ever listened to Nas' "I Know I Can," a song about achievement by children, with lyrics such as "I know I can...be what I want to be.. if I work hard at it...I'll be where I want to be."

You shouldn't lump all rap into one category, some rap has positive messages. If what you listen to is mainly country music, all you probably know about rap is Nelly or P-Diddy. You should get educated about a subject before insulting it, or you will sound ignorant.

42. Nicole I am 40 so I have been around for awhile...I don't just listen to country music...I listen to it all....But when you turn on the radio and your kids are in the car and Nelly or 50 cent comes on I turn it....I loved the first cd by the Peas...But Fergie has gone down the road that so many woman have...They think shaking there ass and talking about going down on a guy is cool and sales....Just like the video by Pink...She is right...Why not find a better role model.......Teacher your kids to love and respect not sell out......

43. Well, i'm a huge fan of all types of music..... i can go all the way from britney spears to 50cent........... I'm a lyrics person... i like songs cause of there words.... yes there are some rap songs that are abit over the top.....but who know that 2Pac can make such an incredible song like "Dear Momma"... it's about his father leaving there mom and she had to raise two bad kids on her own. He continues telling her that although he never acted good he wanted his mom to know that she was appreciated. Kanye west is also great, that song "Jesus walks" makes me feel like Jesus will always be with no matter what i do. I think that rap music is poetry. Some of the best i ever heard. Have you ever been mad at someone and just wrote alot of sh*t about them? Well these artist just turn there poetry to music. Now back to Fergie...... the song does su*k, the lyrics are horrible, but it has a great dance beat. If it came on in a club I'd dance my a** off. This song is great for dancing. Now i recently saw a commercial on "thats what we call music (for kids)" and they had a group of kids singing Kelly clarkson's "Because of you". They changed the beat to a tech-no vibe so u can dance to it. The song is about someone ruining your life. No one protested on that. Kids don't listen to lyrics, they listen to the beat. I'm not haten on Kelly Clarkson. I love that song. But it's really not that serious.

44. I just have one question, what the hell does that song even mean? Every time I hear it I think "What the hell is her London bridge"? Can someone please explain it to me.
