Blowing Up While Going Down - 'Bridge' Hits #1

Fergie doesn't want to be known as just a chick Pea anymore, and having the #1 song on the Billboard charts might just be the way to do that.

Fergie Ferg's new single "London Bridge" achieved second biggest leap in Billboard Hot 100 history last week by going from #86 to #5, was featured on this week's episode of "Entourage" and is now the top single in the country.

Fergie told MTV.com "We wanted to make it more of a tough feel, which the song is."

If by "tough" she means "dancing like a ho," then it appears as though the Billboard charts are going to need prophylactics.

46. You know, while people who obviously are over the age of the demos who buy music are calling her a "wigger" and bashing hip hop, your younger sisters, brothers, nieces, and also your children are certainly buying it! And it's not getting to #1 by just being sold to the kids in the 'ghetto". It's mainstream!

For everyone bashing Fergie, this song has raced up the charts in record time and has given A&M records it's first hit since Michael Bolton sang "When you Love a womam...." in 1995!

I think white suburbanites need to wake up and look at the music world and realize that rap and hip hop and this kind of music are what kids are listening too.

You may hate Fergie, but while you are hating and putting music in the "ghetto" category, kids are listening to the Peas and seeing people of 4 different races and cultures singing hip hop and pop, and are liking it.

Now I am not a kid, but I can think back to the music that was so "great" when I was a kid and realize it was not all that deep or wonderful either! People in their thirties who love Madonna who put crosses in her crotch in the 80s and makes Fergie look very mild, need to stop and realize they are becoming old farts who can't see that every generation has this and their's what not that much more deep or wonderful!

I think it's great that the racial barriers for kids with music are coming down, too bad the adults still need to put people in boxes.

47. this song is as stupid and mindless as that other one she obviously wrote (My Humps). She is so ghetto and I do think it's a Gwen Stefani rip off. Oh and by they way if you think this is a rap song, you're just as retarded as her. But i guess the american public is stupid too (wow, what a shocker) for making this assinine song number one. Go back to singing back up for the BEP's, "Fergie Ferg".

49. To Post #9 and #22: Have you now idea how ignorant you sound?
I cannot believe in 2006 someone just said "wigger" and I really cannot believe that someone (I am sure a middle aged white man) had the nerve to ask the question, "Why must black people act so uncivilized?" Yeah, I guess you have been missing all the shooting ups of Arby's and Grocery stores by middle aged white men with boring lives. The fact that you guys think that you are justified in spewing such shit is amazing.
DO I like Fergie? Not especially, but the song is catchy. If you are seriously saying that songs like this turn people to country music, then you were never a fan of true hip hop. This song DOES NOT represent what good music is today, but she hit her mark, it's catchy, it will sell a great deal in her first week, and that is all she wanted.
Alos....rap in itself cannot make a kid think that it is ok to call a child a bitch or a hoe...it is the parents job to distinguish acceptable behavior and if you are the kind of parent that would have a child that would let music influence their thoughts...well, you are a bad parent. Don't blame a genre of music for your shortfalls.

52. why can't anyone just be happy for those who work hard and make it in this world? Good for her !!!!!!! For those of you who are b!tch!ng about your kids having proper role models.......it's up to the parents to teach them what is right and wrong. It's not the school's job or the music/entertainment world to do it for you. Also, if there wasn't anything "wrong" in this world how would you teach them??? Get off the computer posting your negative comments and go teach your children something. They are our future after all. Again, way to go Fergie. RJ

56. hey, i like the beat of the song, not necessarily all of the words. i never followed her with the peas, but then again, i primarily listen to country music. i like the dixie chicks the best. chicks rule, and so does fergie, to some extent.
