Teri Hatcher Protects Her Young

Teri Hatcher and Emerson RoseTeri Hatcher was spotted last Thursday shopping at a cellular phone store in Los Angeles with her 8 year-old daughter, Emerson. The duo were shopping for a pink RAZR cell phone that Emerson wanted. Hatcher appeared hesitant to buy Emerson that particular phone because she said she had heard bad things about the phone's quality.

Sources tell TMZ that Hatcher was very protective of her daughter- not letting her roam the store unless she was by her side. When asked for her daughter's Social Security number to activate the cell phone account, Hatcher was reluctant to give the sales clerk such information. Hatcher immediately phoned a male confidant on her cell phone to get advice on the matter. The confidant okayed giving Emerson's Social Security number to the clerk, and also advised Teri not to buy the RAZR for Emerson due to his own daughter's problems with her phone.

In the end, Hatcher opted to buy a Samsung phone for Emerson.

16. This story is utter bullsh*t... legally the parent or guardian (anyone over 18 actually) must be responsible for the bill. This PROVES that a lot of what you read here is total crap. Harvey, I hope you step in a big pile of dog sh*t.

17. Appreciate your sense of humor Alex. And Bugga's comment makes you think. Just how reliable are are any of these "sources"?

18. Um, I work for a cell phone company and you DON'T need an 8 yr old's social for ANYTHING. If she was added as an auth user than she could have picked a password instead. They were scamming her lol.

19. This is a good example of the fact that not only does money not buy class, but also intelligence. An 8 year old with a cell phone? f***ing ridiculous. buy her some barbies instead.

21. Why do you people think this is any of your business? If TH wants to get her daughter a cell phone it should note a crap to you! It is her life and her kid. Lay off....you're probably just jealous that you can't afford to get your child a cell phone. As a mother of 3...cell phones are great to have for communication. Stop being so critical of others...you guys need to lighten up!!!! Too many other problems in this world to concern your self with this story. YOU GO TERRI...DO AS YOU WANT WITH YOUR DAUGHTER...IT IS YOUR BUSINESS AND NO OTHERS! Have a great Friday every one!!!!! :-)

22. Yea,

Snapple or Pepsi. We are no longer going to judge you Terry. Your all grown up now, and I guess we should just let go and move on.

I wonder what Emerson is having for lunch today ?

24. Interesting. Why would they need a child's social to activate a phone? I'm with Teri. I'd just have to get her a cheap-O prepaid deal and not jeapordize my kid's safety that way. Good mom for not letting her kid roam all around the store like some morons do.

25. P.S. Children need cell phones, probably more than adults, because it's a nice safety device for them. With all the psychos out there that like to victimize children, I've reconsidered my stance on cell phones (unnecessary and overused, in my opinion) and am pretty sure that if my son walks home from school ever, he'll have one. You never know what could happen and why take that chance with your kid? Now the fool that likes to sit in the movies, restaurants, and in the stores using them SHOULD be kicked in the ass. THAT is unnecessary and rude!

26. I dont take any chances. I have my children tethered to me at all times. This can be akward, considering that little Stevie is now 32 and his younger sister Susie is 27. But I am not going to take a chance with all those psychos out there who want to steal my babies to take to their unabomber style shack and make child porn to spread on the internet through newsgroups. No way.

So take out your pens and let me give you other little protective pearls of wisdom

-2 cell phones are better than 1. If you have more money get three phones.
-Paint your kids with phosphorus dyes, so they can be spotted at night
-Toss their cells randomly
-Once they reach the age of 10 they may be ready to carry a handgun for protection

Good luck and stay safe.

27. DrP,

Umm I dont think you are picking up tongue in cheek humour. Ask one of your friends or co-workers to explain this to you ? You must have a rough time walking around the world taking everything literally and missing everything else.

29. What the heck! Why give an 8 y/o a cell phone? Do these parents have any common sense? I don't think so!!! Crazy people! What else can they buy with their money. Too much money for these idiots do they really deserve it? Nope.
