Teri Hatcher Protects Her Young

Teri Hatcher and Emerson RoseTeri Hatcher was spotted last Thursday shopping at a cellular phone store in Los Angeles with her 8 year-old daughter, Emerson. The duo were shopping for a pink RAZR cell phone that Emerson wanted. Hatcher appeared hesitant to buy Emerson that particular phone because she said she had heard bad things about the phone's quality.

Sources tell TMZ that Hatcher was very protective of her daughter- not letting her roam the store unless she was by her side. When asked for her daughter's Social Security number to activate the cell phone account, Hatcher was reluctant to give the sales clerk such information. Hatcher immediately phoned a male confidant on her cell phone to get advice on the matter. The confidant okayed giving Emerson's Social Security number to the clerk, and also advised Teri not to buy the RAZR for Emerson due to his own daughter's problems with her phone.

In the end, Hatcher opted to buy a Samsung phone for Emerson.

31. Never give out your social security number. Don't people know this? The phone company doesn't need to know your social security number.

33. Terri must have felt some competition from the phone since RAZRs are thin and look pretty but seriously SUCK in quality. Smart of her to teach her daughter about leveling the playing field by buying the Samsung.

34. first of all a normal 8 yr old does not need a cell phone but this is not a normal 8 yr old. If i was a celebrity i would want my daughter to have a cell phone in case anything happened with all these sex maniacts running around who knows what could happen. its better safe then sorry. give her the phone

35. why does people keep using safety as a reason for a young kid to have a cell phone? so if a kid is walking down the street and someone tries to kidnap them, they are supposed to tell the kidnappers,"hey, if you try to grab me, i am going to call my mom you!". damn its scary how stupid people are these days, lol

36. Again and again - the general public is so negative and judgemental about celebrities!! Don't they realize that EVERYONE has their own opinion and what works for one doesn't work for another?. Why criticize someone if they have a different opinion? They're not bothering the public - so leave them alone! I'm sure EVERYONE has something about themselves that other people can criticize them about. If you don't think so - then you're definitely not being realistic.

37. First of all I think it was a good move on Teri's part to get hedr child a cell phone. With her mom being a celebrity and all, think of all the dangers that lurk out there. All the sickos who hurt innocent kids. Now that little girl will have a way to call for help in case something happens. Or if she is somewhere with her friends and they get lost they can call for help. There's tons of reasons to buy a child a cell phone as long as you(parents) teach your children to be responsible when using their phones. Wouldn't you want your child to have a cell, if some terrorist hijacked their school??? Or kipnapped them?? Think abt it first before being negative with your opinions

38. I think it's sad that they can't shop in peace! Good for Teri - her daughter's cell phone is an added measure of security.

39. what's wrong with getting a cell phone for an 8 year old daughter? I don't know about the rest of the world but when I have money, my children have money, when I have this , they have this. Nurturing is a privilage not just a responsibility. Safety alone , for a stars child to have a cell. Also the comfort factor, assurance of either, parent or child to be enabled to dial a phone and reach the other. HELLO???? Need I say more?? also.......if you don't know the answer to a question.....don't be stupid.....ask someone who eoes. If Terrri didn't know if it was safe to give out her daughters ss#.She was wise to call someone who did!!!
