Actor Lou Diamond Phillips Arrested

UPDATE 4:00 p.m. ET: TMZ has learned that Phillips was released from jail on his own recognizance at 12:00 p.m. PT He did not post bail. Representatives for Phillips tell TMZ that no charges will be filed and that the entire incident was a "misunderstanding."

TMZ has learned that actor Lou Diamond Phillips was arrested early Friday morning for alleged domestic violence.

Police were called to a home in Northridge, Calif. around 2:00 a.m. and found Phillips and his live-in girlfriend in an argument. The couple had apparently gotten into a heated verbal disagreement that escalated and allegedly became physical. Phillips was arrested and taken to the Devonshire police station where he is currently being held on $50,000 bail. The name of the woman was not released.

Phillips is perhaps best known for his portrayal of 50's teen idol Ritchie Valens in "La Bamba" and has most recently been seen on NBC's "Law & Order: SVU" and various other TV guest star appearances.

TMZ is awaiting comment and more information from Phillips' rep.

16. Actor Lou diamon Philips Alive

I was surprised as you all might have been to discover that LDP is not dead but is in fact living in a house in a California community called Northridge.

After learning about the success that Lindsay Lohan has had at drumming up publicity LDP decided to try his hand at driving the spin machine. Turns out that it is more difficult than he expected, and this was his unfortunate effort at publicity.

Mr. Philips was unavailable for comment, as he is going to prison, but his live in girlfriend was quoted as saying

"Ouch, that really hurt. You beat me."

Although failing to drum up any positive publicity whatsoever, the LDP camp said that "bad news is better than no news". Gossip rags like TMZ welcomed this news as there was a lull in domestic violence incidents in the Hollywood community, and it is expected that they can rally around this event.

18. Lou did a bang up job playing a really bad dude on SVU this past season. Perhaps he's a method actor after all and is having a hard time getting out of character.

20. Too bad Johhny Cochran is dead.

Women generally get shafted in rape cases and guys get screwed in domestic violence cases and divorces.

Doesnt anyone think that Sir Pauls' now ex-wife needs some domestic violence after conning him out of 400 million dollars. Yeah right, a homemaker deserves to earn 80 million dollars a year...please....slap

21. I bet he gets a big movie now. And then they will write he's going to marry his girl star in this big movie. Then they will write she is pregnant. Then he will hit a photographer. Then the movie will go to video. And finally he will beat up his live-in girlfriend.

23. I'm sorry for him. He's probably still not over finding out his wife was a lesbian and left him for some "woman" a few years back. I loved him in La Bamba, because I remember Richie Valens, but the one who was the best in that movie was Esai Morales. I'm still hooked on him. I was so sad when he left NYPD Blue.

26. "Physical" could be as simple as Lou shoving her away from him. I know because I was arrested for shoving my husband away from me before I would have done worse. "Physical" could even be putting your hands up to block your face.

29. Unknown to me, or the public as far as I know, D-Phil (take that K-fed) has not run into domestic violence problems in the past. The Zone failed to mention to his 'credits' his exceptional appearance on Miami Vice, the TV series, albeit it one episode. But still, it was Miami Vice. As mentioned, this guy is a lover, not a fighter. We do not even know the extent of his *domestic violence*. Everyone has their limit. Also, are you sure you're not confusing him with Benjamin Brat on the Law & Order SUV appearances? Just checking. I'm rooting for D-Phil until more info, none of which is our business, btw, comes out. And even then, you can rest assured it is not the whole story. He does seem to pick out flaky girlfriends (bisexuals, etc; no offense to bisexuals or gay folks). Maybe this one was full of more drama than he counted on. Either way, keep your head up, D-Phil. And no matter what the rumor mill presents to us, I think you'd find more peace taking a hint from P-Hilt - celebacy for a year. Clear your head. Take stock of your inner spirituality. And just as one final unasked for word of afvice, don't get back with this girl. Forgive her, be friends, all that. But living iwth someone who now has your reputation as a possible abuser - not good. Settle it out of court, move on to a year of spritual celibacy, and take stock of your life. Your fan, C-Candee

30. If a woman takes on man in a fight, well I feel she gets wants she is looking for. And belive me there are alot of woman out there that can fight just as good as a man. They aint all that helpless and the bad part they have the law behind them.
