Rick Dees Returns to L.A. Radio

Rick DeesTMZ has learned that legendary radio personality Rick Dees is returning to the airwaves on the brand new L.A. radio station Movin 93.9.

Movin 93.9 represents a new radio format called Rhythmic Pop Contemporary and will feature the music of such seldom played artists like Beyoncé, Gwen Stefani, Jennifer Lopez and Black Eyed Peas.

Dees will serve as host of the live morning show. This marks Dees return to L.A. morning radio after being replaced by Ryan Seacrest on KIIS-FM in 2004.

Meanwhile, Movin 93.9 replaces Country 93.9 KZLA.

Though Country 93.9 called itself "America's Most Listened to Country Station", country music stations have not been doing well in urban markets like Los Angeles and New York. Fans can still listen to Country 93.9 via Internet streaming as well as on their HD Radio side channel.

While Movin 93.9 bills itself as "The Mix That Makes You Move," we're hoping the station managers aren't moved to add Dees 70s hit "Disco Duck" onto the playlist.

108. I'm so excited that RICK DEES is back!! Thank goodness someone came to their senses. Sorry, but Ryan Seacrest is no Rick Dees! I'm listening to Rick's show now along with his guest - Jack Nicholson!! Yippeee!!!

109. Finally... Dees has returned! LA is safe again, safe from the mediocre talents of a ClearChannel creation dub'd Ryan Seacrest. I'm sure that Metro/Seacrest is nize dude, but 'Where' the Hell's the center -- Does he have one? Is he alive?
Does he breathe air?

It was soooo shameful for a Southern conglomerate to kick a talent like Rick to the curb. But they did it.

LA radio -- Forget that -- Radio has become moribund. To finally be able to hear Rick Dees again, be exposed to some of his wacky calls... is as close to Heaven as one can get on this terrifying ride we call "Life."

110. I must Add:

I loved KZLA. You know what, though, you and I and the rest of the LA audience mean ABSOLUTLY nothing ( 0 ) to the creeps who run the radio stations -- It's all about bottom-line. So now we have Rick for awhile. I say 'Hooray,' but soon the bottom-liner's will make another short term, short sighted decision, and we'll all be the poorer for it.

Look at Seacrest -- What a load of bupkis! There's nothing there, folks. If he didn't have the availablity of the HUGE Clear Channel Press Grinder and the access to all the inter-related entertainment co-sponsorship press deals, he's be shining shoes in Atlanta... No... wait a second -- He'd be mopping floors at Mickey D's...

Seacrest is 'What' is wrong with America. Talent means NOTHING anymore; they can create it out of whole cloth, vis a vis, "American Idol." Look at the out-takes of Kelly Clarkson or any of the others... It's scary.
On "The Last Comic Standing," the show's 'Talent finds' were all micro-managed demographically. None of those 'Winners' were any good; they were lame, 'flash-in-the-pan' instant network creations.
At least Dees has some talent; you may not agree, but then you can switch stations.
KZLA was a GREAT station with GREAT music, but those dudes who run up the price of oil. speculate on your retirements by spec'ing the Futures Markets, capitalize on housing -- Yep those bottom-feeding slime bags who've NEVER done and honest day's work in their miserable lives -- will do what they have to do in order to make a quick buck.
Clear Channel is run by a bunch of 'Born-Again Christians,' so it seems all of the values that made America what it was have left....

112. I'm glad Rick Dees is back! I listened to Rick on the first morning he came back. He picked up right where left off, almost like he never left. One thought, too much of Patty (long legs) Lopez. Give her less of a role. I never did like Ellen (the turncoat, fair-weather friend of Dees) K having so much say so on the old Rick Dees show.
Never did take to Seacrest. He only got famous because of American Idol. Kiis execs were probably having meetings on how to not lose sponsers and listeners. So long Kiis, Seacrest, his metro whatever, and good riddence to Ellen (the mouth) K, also her Kiis exec husband. Welcome back Rick Dees.

114. Welcome back Rick. I am so fired up with your return to radio. I was transferred back home from overseas 2 years ago and began to listen to your show with the other station and was enjoying that incredible style of yours but unfortuantely I was not aware that you were leaving that week , so I only got to listen to your for about 4 days. I was so ticked off that the legend was leaving radio. You have made my radio listening once again a pleasure All the best to you and your team GRACIAS Amigo!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

115. I'm glad to know that Rick Dees has returned and that he's doing an awesome morning show. I seriously stopped listening to the radio when I found out that Seacrest was replacing Rick. No one made me laugh or made my ride a great time in the morning like Rick did, Welcome Back Rick! Sad sad KIIS, Rick is back and he is kicking some major radio butt...lets get Movin'.
