We all knew Matt Lauer had a passion for fitness ... but holy cow!!! Who knew Matt Lauer was hiding such a muscular physique underneath his suit?

Thursday afternoon, cameras caught the "Today" show hunk spending some quality time with his family on the beach in Southhampton, New York.

Lauer has been co-anchoring NBC's Today show since 1997, giving us plenty of time to get to know the guy. But rarely do we see our favorite news anchors trading in their on-camera garb for beach wear.

Looks like PEOPLE magazine was right when they choose Lauer as one of the 50 Most Beautiful People in the world back in 97.

Anchor or no anchor -- Matt we applaud you for the ripped six pack.

34. In matter of fact I won't mind taking a look at Al Roker's body. We live in a celebrity-driven, body infatuated society. Face it skinny people are not always attractive! But Matt does look good., not only for his skin but his intelligence.

43. Matt McConaughey needs to look out! He's not the only one. Matt Lauer's got a well chiseled six pack! I thought he didn't look like that at first. Lauer just might convince some of us out of shape guys to hit the gym, exercise more and get some abs like his! He looks sharp and he has such well pumped muscles on his arms. The beach wear he has looks comfortable and relaxed. How were you able to get that picture? Does Matt know about it? Very impressive picture of him with his little girl!
