Rosie's Angsty Pre-"View" Poetry

Rosie O'Donnell is clearly conflicted about her upcoming debut as a co-host on "The View" -- and she's letting her feelings spill out for all to read. On her blog, O'Donnell has given her fans and observers a taste of what she's been thinking in advance of joining Barbara, Joy, and Elisabeth at the kaffeeklatsch, almost in real-time and in a stripped-down shorthand (and all-lower-case) verse that might best described as Hai-M.

Last Thursday, she caused a minor stir when she reacted to having seen the new "View" promos, in which she's portrayed as just one of the girls. "It will be hard 4 me/2 not b/the boss," she wrote. But Friday, she did something of an about-face, writing, "I am excited about the view ... hoping they all like me ... cuz there is nothing better/than being a cast member."

And then yesterday, Rosie described an interaction at Saturday's Creative Arts Emmys (pictured above) with a reporter from Access Hollywood, who apparently asked her if she was happy about her former nemesis Star Jones' firing. Rosie wouldn't take the bait, according to her: "It would not have been fun for me/fighting everyday/life is 2 short."

Though her unabashed self-explication is certain to continue to make (little) waves, Rosie herself explains that it's just a way to work things out: "The discord is internal/inside myself. . .feelings are not fights." Rosie's full poetic discourse on "The View," complied into a mini-anthology, follows.

The Pre-"View"

by Rosie O'Donnell

i saw the new view promos
and found myself in the position
i loathe most
powerless

it will be hard 4 me
2 not b
the boss
it is already
and we have only just begun

i am excited about the view
like a new kid on the first day of school
hoping they all like me
that i fit in
cuz there is nothing better
then being a cast member

access hollywood
asked if i was happy
star was gone
b4 i could reply he added
- i would have loved 2 c u 2 go at it
smiling

it would not have been fun for me
fighting everyday
life is 2 short

391. Rosie is not only an unschooled, lousy poet and poor communicator, but she has to be one of the ugliest men I have ever seen. Somehow, those credentials should fit in nicely with Barbara Walters and her lame show.

392. Rosie does not make any sense in her poetry which seems to be nothing but ramblings of someone who has mental problems. I will find something else to watch because as of now one less viewer of The View.

393. I cannot believe how rude and infantile you people are. Your responses sound like those of a child picking a fight on the playground. Yes she is a lesbian and there is nothing wrong with that. It's not like she's going to give off evil lesbian vibes on the show. And why do all of you "adults immediately attach her looks? Talk about infantile comments, I bet none of you are beauty queens, but guess what it doesn't matter- inside is what matters. Rosie is entitled to her own opinion and can say whatever the hell she likes, it's obviously worked for her in the past, she is a lot richer than all of the rest of us. Also she writes like that because it is poetry and who are we to critique her art. For God sake, grow up.

394. I agree with the vast majority who believe that Rosie O Homo is the worst thing to happen to The View. There are two vacant seats on that panel. Since she's agreed to take one they can't seem to pay Miss Piggy enough to fill the other one. No one wants to sit on that panel with her and it seems according to public opinion, no one wants her there. She is going to push her liberal gay agenda at every opportunity. Who will they hire next, John Karr? It's sickening. Barbara Walters is clearly suffering from Dimensia and has scraped the bottom of the barrel for this "thing" If she wanted a loud mouthed cow with an annoying voice she could have hired Rosanne Barr. At least she's funny and doesn't have an agenda. The View has gone to the dogs. Two weeks with that big mouthed shemale and Elizabeth the ding bat will run screaming from the set. I will quit watching this farce on Sept. 5th when sheman walks on the set.

395. I can't wait for Rosie! She will bring the show back to what Barbara intended
it to be. I loved Rosie on her old show and love her even more now! She has
mellowed and yet is passionate about her views. I think this is a perfect fit.
Selfishly, I can't help but wish that Elisabeth would be let go. She doesn't
allow anyone else to talk when she is ranting about her right wing, extreme,
beliefs. The funny thing is that most Christians don't like her ranting and
feel that she is giving christianity a bad name. You can't reason with her
or even get a word in at all!! She needs to go!! Rosie's blog reflects her ability
to listen to everyone. She won't have a problem, but will bring a refreshing
honesty to the show! Love Joy, too!. Can't wait to see them together. This
is a good fit and I would be willing to bet - will send the ratings through the
roof.

396. Lay off the Rosie bashing. She is human like the rest of us. I think she will add the right amount of spunk that the show needs at this time. She did a great job on her own talk show. Look at all the good she did for people in need and charities. Because she is gay is no reason to bash her. She does not bash you because you are straight. Sit back relax and enjoy the view. If you then decide you do not like it with Rosie on it then change the channel. Personally I will love it. I liked her on her show and think she will do a great job on this show. At least she is not phoney like Star Jones Reynolds was.

398. Barbara Walter's choice of Rosie O surprises me. Is this her idea of a ratings booster? The View does not need venom and vindictiveness to increase ratings. I enjoyed it when it was a panel of intelligent, witty women who shared their views on current events. I too began to grow tired of Starr, especially during the engagement, but assumed if she were ever replaced, it would be by someone equally intelligent. I haven't watched the show since. Sorry Barbara, I think you are making a big mistake.

399. Rosie O was about the WORST choice for a new cohost. I couldn't believe they chose her; although I'm sure Joy is happy. I've already stopped watching the show -- I just can't take it anymore. Anyone who doesn't agree with Joy or BW is shut down and can't get a word in edgewise. I don't know how Elizabeth can stand to be around these nut cases!! I used to think BW was okay and tried to be somewhat impartial but even she has turned out to be a goofball. Poor Elizabeth -- if I were her I'd get my resume updated and start the search before their crazy ideas start to rub off on her. I hope The View has a quick death and they fill the spot with something more representative of average america.

402. I hope Rosie proves everyone wrong. She has done a lot of good things in life.
If you look at her with negativity, then thats what you will end up seeing , no matter what she does.
I think she loves children, that she is a huge fan of the arts...and that she has an enormous passion for life. I don't always agree with her opinions...and how she voices them...but, at least she has the courage to have an opinion..
Her personal lifestyle doesn't matter to me one bit...
As far as the way Rosie writes, with letters and numbers..I know people a lot older that use that same form of emailing....Who cares? Can't a person choose their own way to write a message?
Not everyone is a Barbara, Elizabeth or a Joy...I think Rosie will be a good asset to the View...The show needs some spark!

403. I like the fact that Rosie has joined the view ,that is the reason I will watch the show.
she is a woman with common sense and is highly intelligent ,it is too bad she cancelled her previous show ,she did good and helped out a lot to poor children and sick people too, she did more good than the people who is saying bad things about her.
